Strength:

Styling Wonderful to drive (fast) in the rain.

Weakness:

Quality control. Besides the problem mentioned above, it does squeek and rattle a bit. In addition, interior plastic trim covers have a habit of simply leaping off their intended place and appearing on the floor of the automobile. Granted roads around Washington, DC are not the best, but we cannot all live in San Diego!

In my previous review I mentioned the horrible creaking noise my TT makes when going over bunps. It has done this since age 6 months. The dealer still has not been able to fix the problem. I have determined that it only occurs in temperatures above around 65 degrees. The dealer recently replaced service managers and - Jack - the new service manager has suggested that I leave it, appointment or not, when the noise occurs. Luckily there is plenty of warranty left. If anyone out there has a similar problem - particularly if it has been cured - please contact me. I still think the car is a bold design and as everyone even half awake knows, interior cues (aluminum, shifter, pedals) now show up on just about every manufacturers' vehicles. The Audi family styling cues appear everywhere as well. A friend at work even remarked, "I saw what looked like a pregnant version of your car." She was referring to the $70K Lexus offering (hardtop in place).

Model Reviewed: TT Coupe 225

Strength:

-Great handling -Quiet interior -Unique styling -Quality workmanship and materials -Spacious interior for a sports car(front seats)

Weakness:

-Small trunk space -back seat is not convenient

When I first saw this car I was impressed with it's style. Being 6'7" I had come to the sad realization that sports cars weren't my size. That is until I sat in the TT. The interior is spacious and with the seat all the way back and down I have about 2 inches of extra head room. I was amazed! I test drove the roadster but the only draw back was the huge blind spot because of having the seat all the way back. I dont have that problem with the coupe because of the rear window. I bought a white Quattro 225 with the upgraded Bose stereo and the Xenon headlights. Both are worth the additional cash paid for them. I would also recommend getting the all weather floor mats, they will catch a lot of debris and will last a lot longer than the carpet mats that come standard. In the 3 months I have had the car there has only been one cosmetic problem. The paint on one of the roof rails had a few small bubbles in it. I took it into the dealer they gave me a loaner A4 and I had my car back in 4 days, problem fixed. My dealer went out of their way to make sure everything was right even after I had signed the paperwork. The car handles amazingly at higher speeds and has a quiet interior except for the great exhaust sound. Because of the small size of the engine most of its power comes in the higher rpms. That took some getting used to but now is a non-factor. For the money this is a great all around sports car. Not the fastest, but can hold its own on the road.

Strength:

Styling, both inside and out, particularly if you get the ball glove interior. Excellent handling and you have great acceleration anywhere in the rpm range. Spacious interior that is quiet for a convertible. The largest useable trunk in its class for those long trips (the TTR quattro trunk is substantially smaller). Fantastic gas mileage for this class of car (28 mpg on trips and 23 city). Lots of aftermarket mods avaialble that can boost perfromance to 300 hp!

Weakness:

Hesitation off the line. Ride can be brutally stiff on older freeways like those in parts of LA.

I just had my 1 year anniversary with this car and still love it. It is a pleasure to drive and a looker to boot. It's not the fastest car available but it is the best sports car for long distance cruising.

Baseball Leather is awesome. Handling is surprisingly good for a small car. The engine cools down very quickly after ignition is turn off. Lots of little compartment for you to place stuff, but you can never find it afterward.

Weakness:

Radio Covers doesn''t have a lock. Cup holders are awkward. The glove compartment can only fit a pair of gloves, Trunk is small. Turbo lag when car is starting.

This is the first Audi that I''ve ever bought. I''ve heard a lot of bad things about Audi, especially TT. Originally, I was looking for the new A4. I went into the showroom and there it was, the new 2002 Audi TT. A brand new color, white, and the Baseball Optic Leather. This combination caught my eyes right away. Immediately, I ask a saleperson for a test drive. When I first started the car, I immediately felt the turbo lag. After first gear, I was convinced that this is my car. I didn''t expect a 180hp car to perform so well. The leather seat is very supportive. The hydaulic clutch is very light compare to the convenitonal clutchs. With the premium package added to the car, the supsensions are much tighter, the wheels are wider, and the exhaust is upgraded. When I had the top openned, the rear wind deflector really works. The Bose Audio Upgrade is a must.

Style, handling are the strengths. I have had little trouble with any Audi, contrary to some opinions I have heard. My TT has no problems at all yet.

Weakness:

Power could be better, goofy side windows are hard to see out of. Wish they found a way to put in a sun roof too.

I owned an A4 and one day when i took it in for service I saw my first TT. I vowed to own one. It''s so stylish that I still get looks even though the model has been around for several years. I enjoy its zip, even though the 180 hp engine is not a racing machine it''s enough for me. Handling is great, ride is good for a small car, luxury appointments make the deal IMHO.

Strength:

Nice Styling Loads of luxury features

Weakness:

Low-end power The amount of technology in the car is amazing, but more features means more malfunctions. I constantly have problems with the windows lowering themselves in this car.

I have driven both the S2000 and the 180 Audi TT Coupe. Originally, I was going to buy the S2000 because of the speed. No matter what anyone says, the S2000 will blow the roof off of a TT (180 or 225-hp) off of the line. The 225-hp TT does 0-60mph in about 6.7 seconds, the S2000 does the same in 5.4 seconds (with an experienced driver!). However, I feel the TT has much better styling both inside and out. The sound system on the 2002 S2000 is an upgrade from the previous years, but it still has very poor quality. The TT is more of a luxury car, and the S2000 is more of a sports car. The S2000''s interior is comparable to a Civic. If you are looking for performance, buy the S2000...if you are looking for style get the TT. As for engine noise, the S2000 is pervasive. The engine is a lot more noisy than the TT.

Strength:

Loves to cruise and can accelerate smoothly and swiftly from highway speeds. From a stop,it''s quick after you get used to the slight turbo lag.You just want to look at the car from all angles, and the interior is just awesome, with good holding seats, great sound and tight steering, shifting & brakes.I''ve heard the 225hp/Quatro is even quicker, but our 180hp gives enough thrills.Top down is the most fun,and the auto-top with glass window works well and keeps out the cold.Heated seats are worth it all year if you like it al fresco!

Weakness:

Slight turbo lag in first and a quick throw into second take getting used to.Left side window giving more wind noise than right, but top alignment may be a little off.

You can''t argue with unique design when you''re driving a concept car that others are now trying to imitate.Expect looks and lots of "parking lot rides" from friends $ coworkers. Quality build,no problems and warranty service is free.Good gas mileage, great cornering and good for an "everyday car".

Due to the car''s look, You will get a lot of attention. (but not anymore, since its been out for almost 2 years now) The car did give me a smile everytime i drove it for the first 4 months - i kept looking for a really big parking spaces - so others could not tough mine. Car does feel heavy, and stick to road, making it stable on highspeed. I personally prefer this over light cars for safety reasons on collisions.

Weakness:

Bad points - audi did great job with advertising and pushing its sales up by 40%+. its eagerness to compete with BMW and Mercs. It has the styling its cars, but lacks everywhere else. Audi cars are not dependable. I had and still have so many problems with my TT, it has to be taken in regularly every 2 months for fuel gauge, dimming lights, overheating, cd pannel not closing, ABS light coming on, window malfunction, turn signal not blinking... its too much trouble and hassle. this is an everyday car for me, but to deal with so much problem from audi''s engine and its electronics... doesn''t matter how good the car may look, bottom line it will tire you out. The customer service is pretty bad, but i don''t blame them, if so many ppl are coming at you, what can you do? i read a survey saying 53/100 ppl have problem with audi cars. 3/100 BMW, 2/100 Volvo, and some other figures, which i couldn''t remember. Bottom line, if you get a TT that has no prob what so ever, you got jackpot - but expect trouble for 8/10 TT out there.

Nice styling - inside and outside. althought not really fast, it has nice torqu to drive around town and even on highway without too much strugle. Inside cockpit feels like a bunker...

Strength:

Styling and Audi''s ability to put what was a cutting-edge show car into production. Inclusing all the interior aluminum that many thought would never be done. These days other manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers are stumbling over themsleves to cop the look. Is it evident that I do not appreciate the copycat. On to the car. Once inside there is plenty of room for two people and there luggage. Even two really big rolling suitcases. Lots of headroom and legroom too. The Quattro system is great as well. You can do things you should not in the rain and get away with it. The 225-hp is good once you get into it. The interior design is still killer. Everyone stares.

Weakness:

The car is assembled in Hungary and while it appears to be of relatively high quality I think the build quality is not all it can be. But I have a friend with a 200 A6 V8 that is suspect in the quality department. Mine creaks like the frame is broken when I roll over a speed bump - heads turn on the sidewalk. Despite repeated complaints Rockville Porsch Audi will not even acknowledge the creaking/groaning exists. I suspect they do the free mainteneace and never actually road test the car. I like the car for what it represents, but for a car with about 12,000 miles, the noise and Rockville''s response is unacceptable. I think Boxsterrs are ugly, but perhaps I should have bought one. My poor friend with the $58K V8 A6 has had even more annoying problems that Rockville Porsche-Audi claim they "fix" but never really do. In additon, on her Audi cheesey plastic pieces are starting to separate from their intended places. I had my first cheesey plastic piece do the same. I have three cars and do not drive mine exept for fun. Good thing it isn''t in daily use. My theory is that with Audi''s 4-year free maintenance (don''t think that the dealer eats that cost - when you sign invo

The 1995 TT show car was an instant icon in my opinion and has spurred an entirely new copycat avenue for me-too designers. Its influence is turning up everywhere. That new ($$$) Lexus convertible-hardtop, Nissan''s attempt at a new Z-car - the list goes on. All this makes the new T-Bird seem refreshing. Well at least one designer was original.
