Strength:

great power and speed (305). The 700r tranny is great and the gas milage isn't bad for a sport car (16-17mpg). the handling is also good

Weakness:

rust, break and gas lines all rust

I'm normally a chevy fan, and still am, but this car is crap. i've had to replace a lot of things like alt. gas lines, brake lines, etc. I really think I bought one that was beat to crap. The engine and tranny run great like most chevys, everything else is bad. I'm finally junkilng it after 6 months of spending but only because the fram is broke.

Strength:

Lots of horse power for low money. Better than average handling and looks better than anything short of exotics.

Weakness:

Have had to replace light bulbs regularly, but at a buck a pop, who cares?

It's a shame they stopped making the Camaro. I've had nothing but positive experiences with mine. The only modification made is a Flowmaster exhaust, but it's enough to keep most other cars in my rear view mirror, including stock Cobras and WRX-STI's. Maybe Chevy will find it beneficial to bring it back in the future.

Strength:

Effectively nothing more than straight ahead acceleration - on a nice day. More than offset by a host of disadvantages.

Weakness:

Single season capability (indeed dangerous in the snow!), unreliable, cheaply made - a throwback to the era before competition in quality and performance lowered the American car share of the market below 50%.

Darwin was correct! The dinosaurs died out because they couldn't adapt, and in many cases were just plain useless! Certainly the case with the late and unlamented Chevrolet Camaro. Cheap, and cheaply made, with a steering wheel from an Impala, and an interior that makes a taxi cab look luxurious, they were unreliable, single season vehicles. Consumer Reports and other consumer publications provide nothing but grief for the unfortunate owners identifying a large number of problem areas including power and electrial issues, engine, cooling, etc etc - a string of black marks from literally thousands of owners that no doubt lead to the death of the car. The advent of the mamals, quick, fast, and RELIABLE such as the Subaru WRX would have hastened this evolutionary process. Vehicles that not only don't lose their competitive edge when its raining, or sleeting, or snowing, but in fact increase their advantage in inclement weather now rule the roads.

Strength:

powerful stock engine. not only quick off the line but still quick in the quarter mile. engine won't die on you like an import would after many races. This engine was built to last and built to win. Good sound once you get an exhaust system. Truly the last american muscle car built. Mustangs and new vettes are sports cars. Camaros and firebirds were the last american muscle cars that lived.

Weakness:

interior makes small little noises some times. But you don't hear that anymore when you have an exhaust and supercharger. Bad driving in the snow, but then people aren't suppose to race in the snow now are they?

I have already written posts on here about my camaro before. I still love it so much. Still runs as good as the day i bought it. Nothing sounds better than a v-8 exhaust. Yea, there are many imports around now and the camaro is a dinosaur. Doesn't matter tho. It truly is a dinosaur in terms of hp. The damn thing is as hungry as a t-rex and as fast as a raptor. These imports are just a phase for young kids who can't afford to pay the insurance of a real man's muscle car. The damn supercharger killed my wallet though. As did everything else. But now with nos and supercharger, ferraris and porsche's and vipers and old muscle cars are all that my car and i like to beat. Imports are beneath us. At least the ones around me are. And i have many around. Long live the muscle car. The last true bang for your buck. Now yes, i'll admit the insurance is a pain as well as gas consumption. But i do promise you this, if you get a supercharger, a 125hp nos adjustment, a cold air intake, edelbrock header tubular exhaust, flowmaster exhaust, z stlye hood, 18 in chrome rims, you won't be sorry. Cause There are now no cars that outshow my camaro now. I used to get intimidated by supras and suped up evolutions. Now i laugh at them cause they don't even deserve to eat the dust that my car would give them. And your damn right my car is that fast now. I know its not the fastest camaro. But my god, its so much faster than everything i have encountered in NJ.

power, looks, price, this car has 122k and runs great, sounds great and is killer on dry pavement, eats the road, sport compacts, and stangs with ease, good brakes

Weakness:

tranny needed a rebuild, coil pack blew, other than that, its great

awesome car, love the power, handling and straight line performance, this car kicks a#$, with the 3.8L v6 automatic, this car is no supercar, but easily dominates rice burners civics, vw's and anything that you really want to beat, sucks in the snow, but its a sports car , right?! dont care about what people say about sticks and v8s, theyre great but for this price, great bose stock stereo (which i upgraded to an impecible alpine deck) is incredible, the leather seats are supportive and provide great support, especially in the corners, this car with new dual flowmaster exhaust, k&n air box, underdrive pulleys, jet tranny chip and wings west body kit makes this car an incredible deal for the price, reliability and the looks of the car which guys love, and girls love it too, believe me at 17 this is the perfect car for young guys who want an easy car to pick up girls, race every 4 banger import and get great mileage and super performance (134.7 mph at track in conn., a supercharger is in the works too), this is the only car for you at this price, it doesnt hurt to kill those v8 stangs either

Super fast easy to fix up, very reliable ,actually held up decent in crash

Weakness:

low gas mileage but a real sound car.

I had a 350 91 camaro jet black in color 18" rims wide slicks on the back. The engine had all sorts of stuff like a blower, exhuast system, headers, super charger etc... My car was pushing on estimate 1000 hp's. It ran at the 1/4 mile in 8.6 sec. it was a street leagal car. I was racing my friends 94 vette which runs the 1/4 mile in 8.9 secs, on the highway and we were doing speeds of at least 160mph and I ran over somthing sharp and my rear right tire exploded and i ran off the road through a field and hit a telephone pole at around 80mph the car was done for i walked away with 10 stitches in my forehead.

Strength:

The power, i've smoked mustanges other camaros and imports all through town.

Weakness:

a bit smelly and rich on gas

I bought this car, and the guys told me it was good for parts. He didnt tell me that I could fix it for less than $2000 and have it be a burnout machine. I got it and there were vacuum hoses pulled off everywhere, so i put them in their places, cleaned the carb, put a new tranny in, and brand new tires. She still needs a paint job, but all in all, I LOVE THIS CAR. I can always count on it starting in the mornings and when cruising the town at night, I always get lookers from the duel barrel exhaust monster sound. Burning off the tires is easy to do, but pricy when the cops catch you. I work in a Big Lots store, and the parking lot is about 250 feet long, i floored it and went 3/4 the way across before catching hold and the tires stopped spinning. What a car, I love it and it handles like a dream, but not in the rain.

The Naturally Aspirated V-8, The suspension ( W/ Bilstein shocks 7 Eibach springs), the brakes, Great look, Agressive sound.

Weakness:

Some of the plastics on the interior rattle in some places.. And everything hits the hood of the car ( Rocks,Debri)...

I've Had my 2000 SS for 3 yrs. now I really like this car. I've beetin the newer corvettes as well as killed the LT1 v-8 Camaros..I really don't have very many maintnance problems with it except for the clutch being replaced now for the third time ( because of the transmission which had to be rebuilt) which was covered under warranty. Besides that I get tons of compliments on the Car and it still runs strong after 56k Miles on it. For the record I was told by a race instructor from the Justin Bell Race school in West Palm Beach, Florida that the SS Camaro is faster than the Corvette C-5 and in fact they have to put limiters (govenor) on the Camaro because there that much quicker.... The car is a Blast and A Mustang Eater.....Have fun....&...Be safe... I Can't wait till I put the Supercharger on (560+hp)!!!...

Good in front end collisions, lots of power, fun to drive, beautiful car.

Weakness:

It is a rare car so I had to buy from Reliable Chevrolet near Dallas, and they had horrible service. The car itself is absolutly perfect!!

I am in love with this car. It is the rare anniversary edition and I always get offers from people who want to buy the car. I am a realtor and I use this car to advertise and it works! It has a lot of power. I am a young girl and guys don't want to race me, because they don't want to get beat by a girl. I live on an island in south TX, so I use the convertible top often. The car runs smooth and has a lot of pick up. Not to mention it is the best looking car on the road! I was in a bad front in collision accident in my white 2002 Camaro SS. A lady crossed four lanes of traffic and hit me head on at about 45-50 MPH. My car and her SUV were totaled. We both walked away from the accident basically injury free. I was impressed with the way the car held up and kept me safe.

Strength:

Been very reliable Great handling (now) Sounds great! Good ride!

Weakness:

Horrible in anything near rain. Even worse in the snow. Not as much aftermarket as the mustangs. Interior stuck in the 80's forever!

I got this car off of a guy on one of the local car boards. I needed a ride since I had got rid of my mustang GT and my mustang 2.3L's tranny had just went out. Well he needed money for his transmission on his IROC. He Sent me some pictures of the car and it looked great! Looked a lot better than 800 dollars! So I went over there and drove it went ahead and gave him 800 for it. I soon had to replace the water pump heater control valve brakes and catalytic converter. I got the car at 136,xxx. I have now racked it up to 157,xxx in 1 years time. Its been a great car but it is on the slow side with that 305 in there. So I added an Edelbrock open element air filter, edelbrock strut tower brace, edelbrock performance springs, hooker 3 inch aeorchamber cat back, polyurethane front and rear sway bar bushings, trans am front sway bar,Iroc wonder bar and did a few cosmetic upgrades. Those simple mods really turned it into a completely different car! She is still slow. My guess is around a mid to high 15 second car. But she has improved. In January the new motor will be done. It is a 90 Corvette L98 350 with a flat tappet Comp cams 274 cam with a set of 461 heads that have been ported I am staying mild with a holley 600cfm carb and a performer intake manifold. Got to pick on some of those Ls1's and LT1's. oh and my total investment in the car? My guess around 1300-1400 right now.. after the new motor? well around 1700-1800.... And it even looks decent! Not like a rough mullet mobile!
