Strength:

the z28 and ss camaro are the two best street racing cars availableunder$40,000. The ss is capable of speeds almost at 170 and the z28 can tip the speedometer at 160 with a 6 speed manual. With a 5.7L engine it takes the 4.6L overrated cobra that has trouble keepin up with the z28.

Weakness:

nothing wrong

i would recommend this car to any guy who needs speed and doesnt wanna pay for a porsche, vette,or viper. i paid 32,000

Model Reviewed: 3.4 Litre V6

Strength:

Beautiful car with style and glamor. There is a lot of options to upgrade horse power from air chargers to computer chips. My car is a v6 but sounds like a v8, for only $200 I put a Flowmaster on it and 3'' tips and made it duel exaust. It sounds great, and sounds fast. Girls love it.

Weakness:

It's not a z28. Insurance is to high for me to get a z28 working at wal-mart.

I paid 6,000 for it and it was lady driven, it wasn't ragged out. It is a 93' with only 74k miles I put the muffler and some racing stripes on it and it looks and sounds like a fast car.

POWER, POWER, and more POWER. Even stock this is one bad car. I love the 6 speed. Its a real entusiast car. I love destroying Mustangs and those little rice rockets with the mufflers on them. It's a great car to drive, and a lot of fun also.

Weakness:

Cop magnet. Been pulled over twice, but what do you expect. Don't even think about driving it in the snow. Gas sucks, but I'd rather have the V8 over the V6 anyday.

Absolutly would recommend it to anyone.

Model Reviewed: 3.4 V6 5-speed

Strength:

I love the handling of this car, it takes the corners well. Always fun to drive. Maneuvers like a smaller car, but has decent weight and substance so you don't feel like you're in a small car. Gas mileage is decent, I get 20-22 on my combination city/highway drive, I have got close to 30 on highway only. Seems mechanically sound, I have 120,000 miles on it and have only had to do one big repair so far (knock on wood). Folding rear seat is a big bonus, you can actually haul quite a bit with them down, I've moved about 6 times with this car and didn't have to make a million trips.

Weakness:

Wierd clunking noise from left front drivers side wheel area that developed 100,000 miles ago, no dealer/repair shop has ever been able to diagnose it and no adverse problems have developed from it.
Orignal replacement Goodyear GA tires are spendy, you can buy an off-brand a little cheaper, but not much, although the original tires lasted about 80,000 miles. ABS acts up from time to time, but usually means you need a brake job or adjustment. Poor traction in winter, but if driven carefully will do ok--just don't try to blaze any trails.
Hinges on center console broke very early on. No room in backseat (although kids look pretty cute back there).

I ordered mine new from the factory in Fall '94, I paid around 17,500 with most options EXCEPT AT, leather/power seats and T-tops. If you can afford the extra cost of insurance I would say buy the Z28, especially if you are looking for the sports car engine. The 3.4 is ok, but the V8 or even the 3.8 V6 will add quite a bit of power. This is great for all around driving, 6 years later and I still love the way this car drives and handles, and it still turns heads. Overall I'd say the 3.4 V6 has quite a bit of bang for the buck. I would definately buy this over a car of similar size simply for it's handling. Had to replace head gasket at 118,000, but that is not out of the ordinary for a car this age with those miles, otherwise all I've done is routine maintenance and replaced alternator, tires and brakes.

Drove the Z28, this rides a lot smoother, but no comparison for speed.

Strength:

The sound, the look, what it can be. With a new exhaust system, window tints, I can put it in a car show. Really tough.

Weakness:

Low clearance, bottomed out on a dip and had to put in new radiatior. Trunk locking thing, I hate it.

I got this car reletivialy cheep, and for what I wanted in a sports car, it was the best investment I could have made. It looks great, runs forever, ect. The older camero's, like the 85-88 models, are a great deal for the amount of money one has to pay for.

88 caprice classic. Same engine, camero is 1/2 the size and a lot faster for some reason

Style, style and style! T-tops bucket seats, big engine.

Weakness:

305ci 4bbl, only 145 hp(base). 3speed trans but i change it with 700-R4(OD). Not good in winter season, since i live where snow is very common. Attracts cops, vandalism, small interior, rattles, t-tops leaking, AND GAS!!!!

had this car for almost 5yrs now, there's no big repair so far, i change the trans because of its slow 3speed(metric). put an 89 iroc rims, new paint, overall it depends how you takecare of your car. i do almost everything in my car. its my daily driver and long driving too (except for interior room, need more room).

Strength:

Great looks and handling. The t-top option is only about $900 which makes the t-top Camero about the cheapest open top car around. Reliability was excellent. At 55,000 miles it had been in the shop once to replace an oxygen sensor. I did replace leaking rear shocks myself.

Weakness:

The 3.4 liter engine is a dog for a sports car but adequate for everyday driving. Slippery on ice even with the manual transmission, 75 lbs of sand in the trunk helps a lot.
The black plastic gas cap would start binding after a couple years and would not seal properly. I was on my third cap and it was starting to bind

I paid about 15 thousand new with only the t-top and rear defroster for options. Very reliable, and enjoy driving it for 6 years until the crash. I swerved around a deer and went into a skid on a gravel shoulder. I think the the good handling allowed me to straighten the car out before I was across the road and was able to go straight into the trees. Otherwise I would have rolled it for sure on the steep embankment and may have been hurt.
How well did I like the car? I ordered a new V6 camero with the insurance money. Same colors and I will be getting a better engine and brakes.

78 Olds Starfire, 84 Olds Calais (like Grand . The big 16 inch wheels makes all the differnce in the world. Camero handled better and attracted a lot more attention.

Chics dig it. So do my buddies. It does what a car is supposed to do... makes up for the lack of 'manhood' I am missing... (hehe)

Weakness:

... A little worried about reliability tho I have had no problems. I did get the extended warranty.

Great price. Havent had it long enough to know if its reliable tho I would like it to go about 110k at least. I would recommend this car to anyone as a first sport car. So far its just been pure fun. Luckily my parents let me on there insurance policy so insurance isnt much more than what it was on my truck. I would like it to drive till about 110k without any maintenence... but from what I read, thats just wishful thinking.
