PRICING!!! Best bang for the buck of anything out there. Mercedes Parts throughout. Pickup off the line. Cornering. Stereo. Stying.

Weakness:

None, this is a sports car, not a Starbucks!

I was looking on the freeway while driving, for a car that spun my head around. Living in LA I've got quite a selection, but none got me. Then heading to Palm Springs one day I saw a convertible gray Crossfire and my heart flew out the door. I sped up along side it and thought it was the hottest car I'd seen in a long long time.
I landed a great deal on the exact same color and style and LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS CAR!!! It is sooooo tight on the road, yet drives like a dream, the cornering is totally amazing. And the power is stunning. I had a Jag XKR Turbo convertible and Crossfire just kicks its ass on almost every level. Crossfire turns on a dime, and will completely make you forget about all the cars you thought you might fall out the door.
Good going Chrysler?Mercedes, I look forward to this becoming a collector car.

Strength:

Strong engine and smooth transmission
Drop dead gorgeous styling
good fuel economy for it's class
sporty interior
**9/10 overall on this car. I'm in love with it.

Weakness:

It has a cupholder...sort of. A little flip up one in the console, that I've repeatedly knocked my coffee out of.

Can hardly see out of the back window. Comparatively, I should just put it in reverse, close my eyes, and hope for the best. The blind spots are huge.

I was set on an 05 MR2 or a Crossfire. I've been in love with the Crossfire since it's '01 debut in Detroit (I just stood and stared at it for almost an hour with my mouth open). I test drove a 6 speed and got stuck in traffic, that ended my need for a manual. I really had few requirements...low miles, red, automatic, good price. ok, a lot. The dealership next to where I work traded one, and the next day I drove home in it. It's been AMAZING to drive. A real headturner! I've never not parked and gotten compliments on it. The engine is strong, shifts smoothly, and is very responsive when the AutoStick is used. I average 27-28 MPG on the highway, but when I get on it around town, that drops to 19-20. Maintenance priced are a bit high. Full synthetic oil change (0w40 Mobil-1 is recommended under the hood) runs $74 on average. Tires (eek!) are grossly expensive. On the upside, it's not like you need tires once a month, but a set will run about $1200. I priced all the maintenance pre-purchase, and it wasn't bad enough to sway me. Overall, this car drives like a car that should cost twice as more. It's gorgeous, handles beautifully, sounds beautiful, and gets reactions everywhere I go. Sporty interior and suspension. Feels like it'll go fast. That's what I expected. You can't buy a car like this and expect it to ride like a Lincoln and have enough room for 3 sets of golfclubs and a couple bodies. It's a sports car.

Similar Products Used:

Porsche Boxter- I couldn't justify the maintenance for what you get.
BMW Z3- It was nice, but I thought it looked like a whale from the front.

350Z- Nice, but couldn't figure out why insurance was twice as much as the Crossfire. It became unaffordable.

Miata- I like them, but could never admit to owning one.

3rd gen MR2- Good luck finding one in decent condition where they aren't trying to take your arm and leg. I would still like one.

Strength:

-Interior/Exterior Styling
-Gas mileage
-Infinity stereo system
-powered assist rear spoiler
-trunk storage
-Nice stock rims
-Mercedes underneath the hood
-dual transmission from auto to standard
-Mercedes options
-Price

Weakness:

-Side visability is limited when parking into small spaces
-Interior controls could be of better quality-they feel cheap
-Chrysler discontinued it-BIG MISTAKE!!

I just purchased this car a few days ago from the dealership I work at. The car is exceptional, I love the sound system and the interior as well as the exterior styling. It does handle and ride like a Mercedes (I drive them all day) but I think it is sportier than any Mercedes equivilent.
Initially this car was hard to park for me (I'm a small person) until I got used to it, practice makes perfect.
When it comes to the highway-it's no slouch, and very nice to drive. I find the seats very comfortable (I drive an hour and half one way to work) and all the controls are user friendly to the driver.
The trunk storage space is large considering the overall size of the car (I have a coupe) and wouldn't mind taking off for a week or two in it because of the storage space.
A lot of people make comments on it, everytime I pull into a parking lot somewhere someone always comes over to look at the car and make comments on it. It definately catches eyes!
I highly recommend this car to anyone!

No cup holder, limited trunk space with top down, can't rotate tires since they are two different sizes.

Having only two seats took some getting used to, and the road noise from the soft top, but I love this car! I get looks wherever I go. It handles exceptionally well and you can tell that it is German made, very solid.

Weakness:

Noise when top is down, lack of cup holder, limited luggage compartment.

My partner and I bought this car new in the spring of '07. The pricing was fantastic, particularly when you consider the competition in that price range. Initially, we were considering the Audi TT Roadster, but the Crossfires ride was superior and its price made our decision easy. We both enjoy taking it out for a spin, and really find not having cup holders as our major gripe. At highway cruising speed the drive is very smooth and quite comfortable, but keep in mind that we are both 5'8", so the fit is almost custom to our frames. Neither of us have owned a convertible in the past, so getting use to not being able to hear each other when the top is down can be challenging. This is meant as our spring, summer and fall toy..we park it for the unbearably long Minnesota winters. I recommend this car whole heartedly!!

Strength:

Beautiful design and amazing handling. It is a Mercedes in a Chrysler skin after all. :)

Weakness:

The only two weaknesses I have seen on this car are the lack of a cup holder and the aluminum console. I can deal without the cup holder by using an after market product. Unfortunately, to my knowledge no one has yet produced a wood grained retrofit for the console.

This is the second Crossfire I have purchased and I am quite pleased with the vehicle. Everywhere I go in Southern California, espceically in the summer with the top down, people stop me to comment upon the beauty of my black roadster. Before purchasing this vehicle I had tested BMW's, Porsches, Audi's and the Mercedes SL. As far as appearance, I felt the Crossfire outclassed any other two seater on the market.

The acceleration of the Crossfire exceeds anything necessary on the public roads and to opt for more horsepower means more fuel consumption which is not, in my opinion, an environmentally sound choice. Despite the fact that the horsepower is less than some of the competitors, I have clocked this six speed at 0 to 60 in slightly over 5 seconds. That is not bad at all for a vehicle that gets nearly 30 mpg's highway. I have actually beaten Boxter's and Z's off the line. The Crossfire is an environmentally conscious luxury/sports vehicle.

I have mixed feelings about the fact that Chrysler has chosen to discontiue the Crossfire. On the one hand, I am pleased that with less than 50,000 produced,in a few years this vehicle will be a collector's item. I am also pleased that this is a rare vehicle on the road. On the other hand, I am dissapointed that this will be the last Crossfire I will purchase since it will no longer be produced. I also hate to see Chrysler lose the opportunity to market the best car they have ever produced. All in all though, I would have to say that I am probably more pleased that it is being discontinued because that means that not only will I have a very unusual beautiful car, but I will have a vehicle that over time, should actually increase in value.

-Engine was not chosen because it was the fastest or the most economic on gas, but that it is one of the most reliable engines that benz has made. Not slow.
-Looks are amazing
-Can buy used cheap
-Better than a corolla

Weakness:

-Weak Resale
-Small -Im almost 6'2, im a bit big for it
-Windows should drop when doors open
-Low profile, big rims, sport suspension makes ride bumpy and noisy
-Directional tires cannot be rotated

Let be honest, there are certain things that make this car not seem like such a good deal. The fact that Chrysler has stopped making it, for one, made me reluctant. Also the resale value is not very high. These can actually be viewed in an optimistic way. For me, I don't want a car that every one has.. where I live and go to school there are 3 series bmws c class benz, g35s, and 350zs everywhere. Granted its not as fast as the japanese and not as luxurious as the "germans" (despite being based on the benz coupe). It is a great value. I purchased mine for 15,500 with every upgrade except the GPS. It had less than 30k miles. So, decision time for me, Im 20 years old, I can choose between a used crossfire or a new toyota corolla. Lets be honest, I made the better choice. I honestly don't know one person that would choose the corolla. As for the gentlemen who was complaining about the car who wrote the review before me.. how about you test drive the car before you buy it.. its not rocket science. What do you expect from a car that cost you 13,500... He said he is going to a buy a boxter after he sells his crossfire.. god, only chicks drive those, and yes, you could have 3 crossfires instead of the boxter. So yea, go buy 2 more crossfires and give them to 2 other people who would appreciate it.

granted the crossfires does need some improvements, you cannot beat the cost and the looks, I was choosing between an s2000, g35, rx8, and a couple others, I chose the crossfire because it looks amazing (esp on the freeway with the spoiler up), the cost (alot less expesnive than the others), and the fact that no one has it (people don't know it, and girls get turned on when I drive it)

Strength:

+ Front View and Rear View of the car
+ Engine Bay
+ Good engine/power specs
+ 6 Speed Transmission
+ Nice Looking Interior
+ Based off of a Mercedes

Weakness:

- Handling
- Strange "pull up" shift-to-reverse position
- Feels like driving a sedan rather than sports car
- Few aftermarket parts to upgrade and "play" with the car
- I don't want to bring this up but... POOR RESALE VALUE

I bought this car because it looked pretty unique and it's supposed to be a Mercedes with a Chrysler tag and I thought I was getting a SUPER deal. The V6, 6 speed transmission, 19inch wheels, and dual color interior was what sold me. However, after driving this car for a while, I've come to really regret buying the car.

The interior is very elegent, the lines look very clean, and modern. My only gripes about the looks of the interior are the digital readout displays and the radio look look cheap. When it comes to the seats, the power seats do not drop down low enough and the back support do not hug enough to give it a sports car feel. While driving, I feel like I am almost driving a sedan. The dashboard comes down too low. 4 out of 5 times, I'll hit my knees on the dashboard. This car would really use a better climate control system. For the original price of the car, I would have expected dual, auto-climate control or at least auto-climate control, such as those found in a Lexus, Mercedes, and even Porsches. The windows fog-up easily and it takes a while to clear up.

Handling... boy do I regret not taking it on some windy roads before I purchased the car! Again, I feel like I'm driving a sedan rather than a sports car. Ok now with the 19" wheels... I thought that the 19" wheels looked real sporty and that it would feel more sporty. However, coupled with the feel of the suspension, I'm truly disappointed. The tires on the 19" rims are so thin that you'll feel the bumps (but not the road) and hear the road noise. Not only that, I have ended up needing two alignments in the past 8-12 months.

The car sits a bit too high or at least it feels like it is too high off the ground. It figured that I would be able to fix this problem with aftermarket suspension parts. However, I've found that it was very hard to find aftermarket parts for this car. Ok, I must admit that I really like the looks of the car. The engine bay is very clean and I'm glad the "heart" of my car is beautiful. I also really like the car from the front view and rear view. The sideview is a little iffy. It looks like two different cars crossed together. I guess that's why it's called a CROSSfire!

BMW Z3 Roadster - Fun car. Great looks. Sporty Feel. Cramped leg space, like the Crossfire. Low elbow space.

BMW Z3 Coupe - Just like the Z3, without the soft top. Maybe slightly better cornering due to stiffer body.

Honda S2000 - Great Sports Car. One of the best roasters around. Cramp leg space.

Audi TT Quattro - Fun car. ALL WHEEL DRIVE!!! Low on the power side, but feels about the same in acceleration as the Crossfire. BACKSEAT! There is a BACKSEAT!!! (Not much of one, but there still is a backseat!)

Porsche Boxster - LOVE this car. Best handling car under $100,000. Midengine = Perfect Balance. Shifting is crisp. Handling is TO-DIE-FOR. Even the acceleration feel is awesome. Hands-down the best and funnest 2-seater and Roadster around. I will buy another one of these, once I sell my Crossfire.

Porsche Carrera - Awesome car. Out of price range for most buyers. Acceration is magnificent. Although the handling is not as good as the Boxster, it still is a no-contest compared to the Crossfire.

Pontiac Solsace - Fun car. No trunk space. Pretty decent city driver.

I was gonna purchase a 350Z till I read the reviews. Transmission problems at 10000 miles was all I needed to hear.
I bought this car after reading these reviews. I have had it for 2 weeks now and it's flawless. It runs great and is very fast. The rear spoiler is very cool. Not sure if it makes a difference but it sure does for the appearance. I have no issues with this car, its quick, agile and very responsive on corners. Has a nice Stereo and gets lots of looks. I would recommend to everyone to purchase this car.

Nothing (Who gives a hoot about a cup holder )

Why is this car not more populer??? It has to be the best looking car in its bracket, and drives like a dream. I picked it up second hand just a year old and paid 50% less than the on road cost here in Australia, what a bargain for such a piece of engineering, nothing comes close for value.
For those who moan about the cup holder or the lack of rear vision, who gives a toss !!!! its a sport car, I drive it to have fun in and not to worry about wether my drink is going to spill. If these two issues bother you then maybe you should sell the car and move over to something that is designed for the likes of you such as a people carrier, you obviously dont have the feel for a sports car.
I picked the car up and drove for 700miles straight and it was the best 700 miles I have driven in a car.
Go out and grab yourself a bargain while you can, they will become classics in the future.
Only the latest Ferrari attaracts as much attention as a Crossfire does on the road !!!
