Strength:
talk about power. and just when you think its done, you still got more power left. handling is the best of any car i owned. no matter where you are, you get stared at by everyone
Weakness:
none. worth every penny I got the conv. edition. i also got the lightweight hood option. i also got the tire upgrade, the 13" premium brake system, and of course, the slip maxgrip differential. i also went ahead and got the Mach 460 sound system (you need it when going that fast on the interstate). i am very impressed with this car. i had test driven a bmw 540i (doesn't even come close). if you got the money to spend, do it. you'll be one of not to many and you'll be glad you did. Strength:
With aftermarket acessories, my mustang now makes about 400 real wheel horsepower on the dynojet.
Weakness:
gas mileage. i cant park it anywhere without worrying about it getting stolen. When I first purchased my mustang back in the 80s, My first impression was that it was a tad slow (it only made about 260 engine horsepower) Similar Products Used: Lightning F-150 the stang is more of a drag strip car while my lightning is a daily driver, the truck is a little slower |

GT convertible 5-speed
Strength:
Great looks and styling, good speed and acceleration, a real head turner, a pleasure to drive with great handling and cornering. I drove both the auto and manual before i bought this one. My wife wanted the auto tranny but now tells me i was right to get the 5-speed. for me there is no comparison. Great factory sound system with 6 cd indash. Im 6`2 and find lots of room in the cockpit, i don`t even have the seat all the way back.Driving is fun again.
Weakness:
tiny trunk [like eveyone on here says], maybe a bit pricey {i`m guessing at the price in US dollars at the top, I paid 36,000 canadian for it) I really can`t think of much else that bothers me at all. I guess the back seat is small, but i have small kids that have room, for now anyway. We have a family vehicle if we really need to do any travelling though. I love this car!! Ihaven`t had a sports car for several years now and now i see what i was missing. There`s nothing better than pulling up to a light and knowing you will either beat the car next to you off the line or, in limited cases give them a run for their money!! It`s great to have a car with plenty of power to spare. There`s no waiting to turn into traffic because the acceleration is there for the asking. This is also the first convertible i`ve ever owned and there`s nothing better! A nice cruise on a cool summer night and the thrushy sound of the exaust behind you can`t be beat. This car black, with a black top and charcoal grey interior. It has the 17inch Bullit style rims with leather interior and of course a 5-speed.I have no complaints as far as defects with this car. I`m having the time of my life! Similar Products Used: no real comparble cars, i had a 200 f-150 with a 5.4 in it and i know it blows that away!!! |

Strength:
Easy to work on - engine, interior, exterior. Overall great car.
Weakness:
People in back seat have restricted amount of room. The car has a '73 302 so the car is fast and the engine and carb. is easy to work on. The car looks great, if you like the look of old muscle cars then you'll like this car. You don't have to worry about the computer controlled things like on newer cars. Unique, you don't really see a whole lot of people with older cars, with the exception of car shows. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Great handling. Drive the 110 freeway @ 80mph, it's great on fast curves and turns. Love the rear wheel drive. Good suspension.
Weakness:
Sound system. Gas mileage, not enough horsepower for 18 mpg. Cop magnet. Handling in the rain. Insurance price. A/C broke down 7 times, we gave up. It's a yellow 1989 2.3L EFI Mustang, 90HP 18mpg. If you modify the engine (remove catalytic conv, super chip, nit. systems, etc.) you can get like 130hp. The newer Mustangs are more efficient, but this one will still smoke most of those Toyota and Honda "toys." This car is very dependable and has never, ever broken down. The only things this car ever needed were new brakes and new tires. Mustangs are built to last, I see a lot more old Mustangs out there than old Toyotas and Hondas. Similar Products Used: 1998 Saturn SL2, 2001 Saturn SW2. The newer Saturn engines blow the 'stang away due to its age but the Saturns don't have the handling that the Mustang has. |

my '01 GT looks great. the new additions to the body make it one of the meanest mustangs since the 60's. with a bone stock run down the quarter at 13.79 (lower tire pressure and removal of the spair tire) this makes it one of the fastest mustangs ever also. this car is also very aftermarket friendly, if high 13's is not what you had in mind. since my first trip to the track i have added 2 chamber flowmasters, k&n airfilter, steeda progressive rate lowering springs, strut tower brace and tri-ax shifter and cooper cobra tires. the car screams now. when it explodes off the line there is a great ballance of power and traction to prevent too much wheel spin, of course you want to lay a patch. the car stays straight better than anything i've driven and it handles better that anything, but the bmw 540i. when powershifting, it is very possible to bark the tires through 4th gear (@104 mph). the power is definatly there, it just needs someone who knows how to handle it. the new cd player and mach 460 are great, they put out a great amount of bass and still handle the highs.
Weakness:
the stock exhaust is pretty weak, but the flowmasters took care of it. the stock shifter is fine for jsut driving and getting from a to b, but the new shifter helped out a great deal and the possitive stops are great. gas milage has not been a problem, i get anywhere from 19 to 27 (yes this is a GT and yes i am 18, the mileage was not a typo). the worst has been about 14 when i first got it. if i had to complain about anything it would be the road noise. the windows do not have a frame to go into, the just slide into the weatherstriping on the body, had there been a frame for them to slide into, i think the roadnoise would be must better. also the car is not too fast, from 0-60 or just a dead stop, there are not too many cars that can keep up, however the acceleration really drops off after 3rd gear, it's enough, but deffinately could be inproved. although the breaks are must better than what they used to be back in the day, they still have to do some work on that. the strut tower brace and the springs helped out the breaking distance greatly though. the back seat is kinda small, but it was never intended to be used, it's just for insurence reasons. if someone wants a back seat don't buy a mustang. you know what you're getting, a rocket-ship with a steering wheel and if the road noise or the thundering exhaust or the small back seat bother you, go buy a sedan. this car was made for fun, and it is perfect for that. i got the car in november of last year and have already put on 22,000 mile on it. after looking for a 95 5.0 for about a year, i decided to give up and get a '00 GT. this would have worked out except in october and november of last year all the GT 5sp's had a recall on the parking break, and i wanted a car then, so i went with the newer '01. this worked out for the better. after seeing the differences in the body (different spoiler, side scoops, smoked out front lights, large hood scoop, torque thrust wheels) and the new in dash 6 disc changer, i was sold on the new GT. Quick, looks, maintenance free (so far), rides nice.
Weakness:
Driver's seat is a little uncomfortable for long distance driving, it I love it! It's quick(not as quick as my 84 GT or 72 351), looks sharp and have been getting great gas mileage (20-25 mpg). Definatley suggest the premium package with the 17 in. tires & rims and 6 disc CD/Mach stereo. Similar Products Used: Firebird |

Weakness:
handling sucks, steering feels dead, top end speed, my old Porsche 4 cylinder leaves it for dead after 70 mph, sit way too high, suspension is too soft Intersting car. A nice engine, but without the chasis. I bought it on a whim, an is the only American car I have ever owned. It is fantastic off the light. It is my weekend car, my daily driver is a 1989 Porsche 944S2 with 88k on it that I bought for $12,000 a year ago, it is a 3.0l, 208hp engine. So I guess I can only campare it to my little 4 cylinder Porsche. The Mustang kills it of the light 0-60 in 5.5 vs. 6.6, but the Porsche crushes it top end. Once you hit about 70, even though the Stang has way more hp the Prosche leaves it for dead. In the Porsche you sit lower, the steering is superfast, and the handling is amazing. The Porsche flies at top speed, while the Stang is a redlight warrior. The Stang is comfortable, and very quick. It looks nice, but ther are too many around. It is very reliable, but compared with the old Porsche it is not fast, its steering sucks, you sit too high up, and the handling is atrocious. I think this is my last American car, I don't have any real complaints, but it definitely isn't a sportscar, but a very good engine. The Porsche, though 12 years old, makes it feel like a Cadillac, they are dynamically different, and though the GT is quick, once you hit the twisties, the Porsche isn't even straining, while the GT is ready to fall off the road. The suspension and brakes are much better in the old Porsche too. I know that you modify these these and make them run super quick quarters, but too me the car is the totality of the driving experience, and you can'y go from the Porsche to this. If you can afford an old Porsche to toy with get one . . . there is no substitute. Similar Products Used: 1989 Porsche 944 S2, very different. The Porsche is a true Sports Car, and very fast, and handles beautifully. The Stang is a super quick large engine with nothing else really going for it. |
