Strength:

pretty body - but not worth the pain you will suffer in your wallet after the warrenty expires.

Weakness:

engine durability even if you baby it like I did - expect serious/expensive repairs!

This review is for the VTEC engine that comes in the S2000 but in my case is from a Prelude. In general the commend is DONT BUY IT!!! Mine burns oil at a rate of 500 miles/quart. This problem persisted from the time the car was new. Honda told mw such consumption was normal - not to worry. I took it in over 5 times to have them look at it. The lst trip ws 200 miles before the warrenty expired and again they explained it was normal. Then, 200 miles later, I took it back becasue I wanted to see what the story would be after the warrenty expired. They told me then the engine was seriously broken and there was nothing they could do to help. Very sad. Don''t be fooled by polite sales or service help. Don''t be lured into buying trouble becasue the car style looks good. I know others with the same problem and trust me - you are buying trouble if you buy a VTEC engine!! Buyer Beware!!

Strength:

Acceleration, Handling, Stereo system(accoustic feedback system), looks, fuel efficiency (considering it''s class).

Weakness:

The left leg of the driver has little room when not on the clutch. I''m only 5''7 and it feels a little cramped. The moonroof slides on top of the roof, instead of into unlike the civic.

It seems that the people who can really appreciate fine automotive engineering, already know and love the Prelude. So, I''ll keep it brief. It truly reflects Honda''s strong background in racing. The crisp handling and acceleration are note worthy. The "cockpit" or driver''s area feels omni-focused, meaning they kept the driver in mind when they designed the vehicle.

Boot for top

My daughter wanted to buy a new car{Honda} and my wife and I took her to the local dealer.Looking around the showroom my wife spoted the S2000 and sugessted that my daughter buy it. My daughter is way to practical, I took one look at the car and after sitting in it and finding that it has 240HP along with the 2002 upgrades I bought it.I am very impressed with the handling and design.I took delivery and the first time out was a 150 mile trip upstate.I came home and found Comtech & rm Racing. My S2000 now has a supercharger and if it performs half as good as it looks under the hood I will be very happy.Wheels are coming next week ,ground effects this week.I always have loved cars and I probably have had at least 20 new cars, from Hummers to Porches and every time I pick up a new carI cant sleep the night before. The S 2000 is a tremendous bang for the buck. The fit and finish the engineering compares to a car selling for much more money.I look foward to playing with the Boxters and BMW`s and who ever else wants to play. Caution this car dosen`t play well with others.

Strength:

Build quality, driving position, steering, clutch, and shifter all combine to make for an extra ordinary driving experience.

Weakness:

Torque.

I don''''t own this car, but was very close to buying it. I''''ve never seen a car attract so much positive and negative attention before. Having driven it several times, I can say that this car drives like a natural extension of yourself. The clutch/shifter combination is like none I''''ve used before. Totally natural and effortless. Compared to other cars, makes you feel like you''''re not even putting any effort to drive it and keep it on a line. The driving position is perfect. Around corners, it rides like it''''s stuck to the road. The ride is stiff, but supple. The steering feels natural. The only major negative comment about this car that I''''ve found to be true is that it lacks torque. It gets up to speed very quickly, but you don''''t get the pin you to the back of the seat feeling. All in all, it feels more like a pod racer than a commuter vehicle because it''''s so tight. It has two personalities. If you''''re cruising around town, it''''s very relaxed and driveable. However, if you''''re in VTEC, it demands all of your attention. When you''''re racing down the freeway with the top down, it''''s a total visceral experience and there will be no doubt that you''''re driving a race car. In other words, it can be loud, edgy, and high-strung. This is the reason I didn''''t purchase this car - I didn''''t think it would make a good primary car because it can be so high-strung. In addition, I already drive a low torque, high-revving, high-strung Honda VTEC engine, and I was more than a little tired of it. Which makes it more amazing that so many people bought this car unseen when it first came out. This car is definitely not for poseurs. So make sure you drive one before buying. Then you''''ll see what I mean.

Strength:

So Exciting to drive and it looks so good!

Weakness:

lack of torque, stereo and plastic window

This car excells where it was designed to do so. If you want luxury buy something else. It is so exciting to drive and as racy as it is you can still increase its performance without making any engine adjustments. I am currently taking weight off of this already light car. Even though it lacks in torque, the feel of the torque can be improved by: installing K&N air filter using Synthetic oil replace the 21 -22 lb stock 2001 rims with a lighter racing rim. Replace muffler with a performance muffler that is not too loud but drops the weight and adds 8-10 hp and 10 ft/lb of torque. consider lighter ricaro seats. This will drop the weight so low that cars with more horsepower will not hang with it because they weigh 700-1000 lbs more.

High-rpm surge, amazing brakes, tremendous grip, comfortable seats, unique styling

Weakness:

Poor radio, plastic backlight (but this is trivial since I drive it top-down all the time, even when it''s cold...)..hmmm..not much else except for a little low-end torque

In the last 3 months, I have used my S2000 as a daily driver for a 112-mile round-trip commute to work, and I have never enjoyed going to work before this car!! While I agree with the low-end torque complaints, the fun to be had on the freeways here is unmatched. The torque-mongers among you (I was once one - ''93 Mustang Cobra), let me tell you about the joys of 9000 rpm. When that VTEC cam kicks in, watch out... As for those of you suggesting a Viper or Boxster S, if I go to Comptech and spend $4800, you will be sniffing vapors....

Top to bottom, front to back . . . there''s not a bad line on it. Easily the most subtle roadster on the market.

Weakness:

I''m not crazy about the boot for the soft cover. It''s not a quick up or down. But I''ll drive it with the top down whenever I can.

I''ve waited for two years for this machine. Paid too much for it, with accessories and markup the dealer was unwilling to trim, but it''s worth every last penny. Timeless lines. This is a classic! And it''s more fun to drive than it looks! Mine''s the deep silver with red leather seats. Includes ground effects package (which I could have left, but it''s subtle). My wife said it reminded her of the Harlot. Maybe that''ll be the nickname!

None like this one. This is my fifth Honda. All are still in the family. V6 Accord EX was a great car; it''s hard to give it up, but no question of which is the most fun to drive.

Provides miles of fun. A toy that just begs to be tossed into the twisties. Beautiful design, six gears, and a 9000 redline VTEC. Plus, it comes in yellow.

Weakness:

Noisy (who cares?), stiff (who cares?), limited cargo space (who cares?). It''s a SPORTS CAR stupid! Buy a Chevy Impala if you want storage space and quiet.

It is pure entertainment. This car is one that puts a smile on your face, and nearly everyone else who sees it. People love this thing. The smooth, uncluttered lines will be timeless. The car also backs up its racy looks with terrific performance. Imagine the reliability of a Honda Civic and the performance of a racing car. It is what a sports car is supposed to be, two seats, top down, nimble, and quick (though I will take the creature comforts like air anytime...).
