Awesome power, around 900 HP! Rocket-like acceleration, Burns every car on the road, Awesome looks, it intimidates people!

Weakness:

Not too much said here.

This car is awesome, Super fast, and has stunning good looks! I have put a carbon fiber shift knob, Greddy muffler, under-body light kit, NOS (nitrous oxide system), 4 point harness, DVD player, Playstation 2, Koss stereo system, body kit(to make it look like the one in "The Fast and the Furious"), 19" Veilside wheels, Pro racing headers, SuperFlow air intake, greddy intercooler, greddy Catback system, Boost control, Turbo timer, Viper alarm system, Vent Fenders, all new red & blue vacuum hoses, awesome paint job, 4 wheel racing disc brakes, flame accent dash control background, and 54 cd changer. This car was built to haul!

Strength:

the cars looks and overall performance...and at a very inexpensive price.....this baby has got it all

Weakness:

the only think i can think of is the interior vinyl and plastic work seem to creek a lot while you drive..but other then that...thats all..heh heh..no biggie.

all i can say is ...wow..this is the best car ever made...it might not be the best drag car out there compared to lets say a dodge viper..unless you have had a lot of work on the car done...but i would have to say..it is the BEST all around car you can get...handles and brakes just as good as those porsche 911's...0-60 in 4.9...WAY better mpg then all other sports cars that would even compare..this car also responds real well to new turbos and upgrades...the fastast cars out there are probably fixed up rx-7 to the limit

ive used an acura nsx...corvette..and a porshe boxer...none of these cars compare to the rx-7 to over all performance

Strength:

Acceleration, handling, speed, an overall fun to drive car

Weakness:

Discontinued and rust (due to the year, parts.

Mother f**Kin best car in the world, really fun to drive, maddd good acceleration..0-60 in 3.9 seconds..i beat any car i raced, tubro supras, integras, it ate civics for breakfast.. i had modifications done, to enhance the hp i learned that it needs to suck in air, so added a new air intake), 2 Coils for the hp..and it had the pipes for the NOS, i never used the NOS but i hear that car kicks a$$ with NOS..the max i did with this car was 140, without NOS..i could of probably push it to 160, however the governer stopped it..this car is a MUST..for an old car its awesome..expecially the price.

Corners like no tomorrow, superior engine esp. when upgraded, 0-60 in just less than 5 seconds, revs like a mad dog, and it gets the chicks!

Weakness:

Hard to find parts and expensive parts.

Freakin' awesome! I'm never getting rid of this car. It's incredibly fun to drive, and did I mention it gets the chicks?! Head-turner, the folks back home are jealous and all my friends are too. It's a rarer sports car, and leaves people in tears when I dust them! Hardly anyone knows what they're up against, and even with a stock engine it's incredibly quick.

Strength:

Power, lightweight, handling

Weakness:

too many rattles and squeaks...the engine...how many people fail to realize that rotories dont last very long? you should realize this before you go out and buy a rx7...the longest ive heard an rx7 engine lasting was 150k miles...that's horrid...every 100k+ you have to do an engine swap which costs a lot of money...and not to mention they're in the shop alot.. my friend also mentions that his drinks gas like homer drinks beer... but i guess for him the fun outweighs all this...

Note, this is not a review of my own car, rather my friend's...Welp, I've always liked RX7s because of their great power/weight ratio and great handling... not to mention they look killer in yellow, but then most real sports cars always do look better in yellow...anyway to me it seems that there are too many problems associated with this car...all i ever hear about rx7s is that they're always in the shop, they run too hot, etc etc.. i popped my friend's hood after about 30mins of driving...my damn hands almost burned off! the hood was just ridiculously hot...imagine the stress this puts on all the other parts...

300ZX, other similar RX7s...i like the Z, but the RX7s felt more like a true sports car...

Model Reviewed: RX-7 Convertible

Strength:

Shifting, Tightness, handling and interior layout, excessive convertible weight gain. Very reliable.

Weakness:

Doors are prone to dings due to upper seam, Interior electrical stuff is so-so.

First off, This car is a MACHINE!
When I was 17 (21 now) I picked it up with 15,000 miles. I knew from the start that because it's a convertible it wouldn't have the speed of a hard-top or turbo model. But years later, I attest that this car is well-built and engineered. It gives me a taste of a foreign exotic car for far less cost. Some complain about the poor handling in wet conditions, but what is to be expected of a performance RWD car with Z rated tires? I love my RX-7 more every time it loses it on wet pavement and I have to catch it because I know that not this car is serious and not for everybody. This is a great car for someone that may be considering a more expensive High Performance car as it requires some of the care of a more serious car while not being to picky. Basically, I check my oil every 6 days, change it every 3000miles with Castrol GTX (with Perulator Proline filter (2 dollars more)and replace the spark plugs every 15k.
Although this car has quirks, none are very bothersome to someone who has any notion on how to treat a car. This car begs to be driven fast! I'll only get rid of this one to get an RX-8.

Mitsu Eclipse, VW Jetta (performance Mods), Various Porsche products.
The RX-7 is far tighter than the girly eclipse, smoother than the clunky Jetta. This car is reminds me of a Porsche of that vintage, yet smoother. The Porsche feels a bit tighter though.

Model Reviewed: Base Model

Strength:

It's exclusive with only about 14000 imported to the USA for all 1993-1995 models combined - about 6 months of one-year Corvette production. It's lightweight and that produces tremendous performance advantages all the time - acceleration, braking, and cornering.

Weakness:

The Mazda dealers know little about this car and even though well intentioned, they are as apt to mess it up as correct any problem.

I bought this car new in August, 1992, so I've had nine years experience with it. After all these years, it still produces big grins everytime I take it out. This RX-7 twin-turbo is totally stock. It's ben garaged since new, and currently has 42k miles. I've found that it likes EXXON super premium gas - unlike other cars, it's very sensitive to differing brands of super premium - it hates Amoco and Phillips 66. The spark and/or boost is retarded about 50% of the time with Amoco and Phillips 66 but for some reason it always is on max performance with EXXON. My advice is to keep the car stock - the acceleration, cornering, and braking are already awesome, and it simply doesn't break when stock and well maintained.

1997 - 2001 Corvette C5 - a heavyweight clone of the 1993 RX-7 and not as classy, too much GM.
