Strength:

The LT1...285 hp with 330ish lbs of torque. 95+ mph up the mountain passes in the Colorado passes. 6 speed Borq Warner T56 six speed. Leather buckets with power lumbar and side supports. T-tops. Very durable...I am careful, but I drove it hard especially at SCCA events. It is the best value for the money...hands down!

Weakness:

10 bolt...I wished they still use the 12 bolt rear-end. However, if you don't modify it for more horsepower, the rear-end is adequate. The engineer who designed the LT1 was smoking crack when he put the optispark (distributor) under the water-pump. It is a royal pain to do a tune-up, and if the water-pump leaks, it takes the opti with it. It is also possible to get a lemon. The plant that closed in Canada had some quality control issues.

WOW, what a machine. After 93,000 miles of awesome service and racing, I retired it next to my '79. It was really an incredible car for the money. It is black with Charcoal Leather, and all of the options. I love the LT1 and the six speed almost more than my '79 400 4sp WS6 sitting next to it in the garage. The car had very few mechanical issues during its life that included the EGR valve (under warranty), the water pump (I changed), and the fuel pump ($650). I have less then a $1,000 in maintenance on this car...what a deal! Although, the tune-up on the LT1 is a horrible experience.

Strength:

Very fast. It is also a lot of fun to drive, especially with the t-tops off. Nice sound system considereing it's stock.

Weakness:

Driver side window controls are hanging off the door. Speedometer does not give correct reading. I'll be going 65 and says 90. rear end rattles when I go over bumps.

3rd F-body car I have owned. Overall it is a nice looking car with excellent acceleration. Mine is jet black with grey leather interior. The only modifications it has are a .373 rear end, borla exhaust(which is extremely loud), and a K&N air filter. I am happy with the car but if I could go back and choose again I would not have bought this car. Too many stupid little problems.

TERRIBLE IN EVERY RESPECT> A HUNK OF JUNK!

worse car I've ever had. Spent $500 every week on it. Is in shop more than driven, which is less than 300 miles. This car cost $10 per mile in repairs. GM should be ashamed of turning out such a piece of garbage. This vehicle is only for those who know how to fix it everyday themselves. Never buy anything GM makes again.

Excellent pickup, from the line no one will beat ya! Fair Customer Service (@ least the one I go to) The Firebird Legend

Weakness:

GAS EATER! NOT A V8 (ONLY MODEL WORTH OWNING) AMERICAN! GO GERMAN CARS!

OK! I thought the v6 would be awesome...and believe me it was for the time it lasted. I've had the car now for about 9 months, and have added Borla exhaust, new air intake filter, pretty much simple things that would make it more economical and faster; which sadfully this car isn't without a turbocharger. The car eats fuel like a pig in heaven, and the engine is only powerful enough for the Mustang and select GT models to blow off the road, then some ricers come along and your in their tracks. Truthfully im suprised; hearing about how cool and nice and shiny they are, their still american! MOOO! So tomorrow im test driving the VW GTI VR6 6-speed which could beat a Firebird in heartbeat...the fun will never last they say lol!

Strength:

Great blend of power, reliability, style, and affordability.

Weakness:

For do-it-yourselfer's: Changing plugs and wires on that LT1 is a demon! I also had a problem with a stripped gear in the headlight motor, but fixed it with an internet guide.

I got a 94 Formula with 74K miles on it from Ebay. The car has been fabulous. Great power from the LT1, reliable, and still gets 26-28 mpg on the freeway. I live in Utah, and I even make it through the snow with this car.

Strength:

Everything. The quality has been the best I have seen in cars.

Weakness:

After 9 years of constant driving one I haven't found a weakness.

I bought my first Firebird in 94 (from new), drove over a mountain every day for work. Changed my first tires at 60K miles and brakes at 90K. Gave the car to my daughter when it had 140000 miles on it and bought another new one (in 2001). They are absolutely awesome. Fun, very good quality and just the best. Pitty they don't make them anymore, I was planning on to keep buying them until I couldn't crawl into one. My old one now has 175000 miles on it and still going strong without problems - and still has the original power to it. My new one has only 23000 miles since I don't commute so far now. It's red and very, very beautiful.

Similar Products Used:

Mustang 5.0L which was faster in the acceleration but after having 2 of those giving me lots of problems when hitting 50K miles, I decided no more Fords for me.

Power and performance, looks.

Weakness:

lack of trunk space,

This car is AWESOME!!!!!! A real Head-turner. Aside from small problems that occurr due to wear and tear, VERY reliable dispite what the "experts" say. I have a Flowmaster 80 Seires exhaust system, K&N High flow airfilter, and a "JET" performance chip installed on my Artic White Bird. This thing will get up and move with no problem. Needs a little more power off of the start, but once it hits 30, watch out. It is not odd to be going down the highway at 95mph and not know it. The ride is smooth, handles on a dime, and let me tell you.........what a chick catcher. I have had it for 11 months, put 27,000 miles on it, and its running better than ever.

Model Reviewed: WS6 Trans Am

Strength:

Lots of room in the front. Leather seats are not stiff when sitting in them for a long period of time. Great stereo system. Plenty of room for others when they sit in the back.

Weakness:

Not a lot of room in the trunk.

I must say that I bought the Trans Am for the fact that not too many people have them where I live. I was impressed with the WS6 the first time I saw it. I fell in love and knew I had to have it. It drives well, and makes most mens' heads turn when they see a woman driving it. If your looking for a sports car I would recommend this car to anyone. I happened to get a great deal for a car with only 3,000 miles.

Similar Products Used:

I had a 1998 Mustang and I loved it too, but the Trans Am is by far the better of the two.
