Strength:

handling, acceleration, braking

Weakness:

The radio is somewhat "tinny" for a car in this price range.

I'm a baby boomer who's had it with minivans and SUV's. I wanted something fun to drive. This car is like a rocket-powered go cart. This S model is extremely agile and responsive on curves. Acceleration is instantaneous; you decide where you want to go, point the wheel and then you're there.

This is easily the best car. It took us a long to find the one we wanted, but when we did, We loved it. It is triple balck, with every option possible. (H.I.D.s, Bose, alumminum pckg., silver speedo, silver roll-bar, heated leather, windstop, 1 in. lowering factory,....) We tested an S model, and for the money, there is not much more in it, other than an extra gear, and a few extra horses. The ride is extremely good, don't feel bumps as hard, right there on corners, and this is soooooooo fast. The first day we took it out on the highway, and when we got past the marks of 150 on the speedo, we figured we ought to slow down. Thats another thing, these brakes are the best! It stops on a dime. The exhaust gives and amaising noise. It always wants more. Easily have taken mustangs, civic, and others. Even took a 'Veete. We thought the 'vette had us, but then we found out, 'vettes STINK on corners!

Strength:

Power, handling, stereo (digital option), aesthetics, engine note, and most of all, FUN!!

Weakness:

Plastic rear window, however, mine looks new at all times thanks to Plexus. Buy some, spray it on a 100% cotton towel or diaper, rub it into the window and wind deflector (if installed). Let dry to a haze then buff with a clean 100% cotton towel or diaper. A clean plastic window is still kind of cheesy in a 60K automobile.

Wow! What a fantastic automobile. I owned a 914 back in the Eighties, but that car was more closely related to a VW Beetle than a Porsche. The Boxster S on the other hand is more like a Ferrari than a Porsche. I can't begin to relate how exhilarating this car is to drive. The car as a commuter is nonplussed, the car as a weekend GT is equally nonplussed. I find it hard to believe, other than the additional interior space, why anyone would spend 20 grand more for a Carrera. This car outmaneuvers and flat out performs its big brother by a large margin. After her first ‘drive’ of the car, my wife can’t stop saying how much fun this car is to drive. The compliments and looks are gratifying, but most of all, driving one of these cars is the ultimate driving experience short of spending 100 grand more. I’ve owned 12 BMWs through the years and none without exception compare to the Boxster.

Magnificent automobile. I just completed a 4000 mile roadtrip from Virginia to Colorado and back. Flawless, and I dusted more than a few Porsche wannabee's

Strength:

Smooth comfortable ride; great stereo (with rear speaker kit installed); superbly comfortable seats (with supple leather, heat and power adjuster options);smooth, precise shifting; very high quality materials carefully assembled; world-class engineering, easily upgradeable with an incredible array of factory parts; thrilling engine sounds; confident "go-cart like" handling;strong acceleration;sure braking;excellent balance;nimble cornering at any speed; easy entry and exit;best convertible top available;classic, enduring style and character.

Weakness:

Many reviewers of this vehicle cannot spell even common words in the English language. All cars should be this good, but "nothing else even comes close." However, $200.00+ oil changes are a bit much!

This car is a daily driver which was delivered equipped with boxster red special full supple leather front and rear;power, memory, heated seats;traction control;silver painted roll bars and instrument faces; 18" Turbo-look wheels;chrome exhaust tip and aero rocker panels. Since delivery numerous factory parts have been added including stainless inner rocker covers, rain sensing wipers, factory hardtop, speedster covers, 17" Boxster wheels with winter tires, rear speaker kit, dark rootwood and leather steering wheel, brake handle and dashboard parts and non-smokers kit. All of these parts fit perfectly and were easy to install with simple hand tools. The odometer now shows 34,000 miles without a single breakdown or malfunction. When fitted with the full winter equipment the car handles flawlessly in rain, sleet and snow as deep as 8". With a Rio/car Empeg MP3 player installed, the stereo is magnificent, allowing full enjoyment of music in the quiet interior (especially with the hard top fitted). No one has ever challenged me to a race, nor have I ever had any doubt or loss of confidence in the vehicle's tremendous capability in any weather or traffic conditions. The seats are so comfortable that long road trips allow you to arrive feeling rested and relaxed. Other vehicles considered when shopping for this vehicle were the Audi TT, BMW 330 coupe and MB CLK. None of these vehicles delivered an equivalent combination of quality materials and assembly, braking, handling and balance that the Porsche delivers in bushels. The basic 2.7 liter 217 HP engine is more than adequate to its task. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone lucky enough to be able to afford its not insubstantial purchase price and cost of maintenance.

This stereo sucks! I mean even Hyundai puts in a better stereo system.

I love this car. I bought it with 6k on it. Boxster S. The exhaust note gives me goose bumps as I drive around town. I did drive a 2000 911 and went with the Box for the lo miles and better handling

Strength:

Stlyish and nibble. Moreover, it will turn heads.

Weakness:

The dealerships and their application of the warranty. For instance, my stereo was replaced under warranty with a refurbished model with lessor functionality. When brought to the attention of the dealer, they claimed my model stereo was no longer available. When I became aware of subsequent information that contradicted this, and wrote the CEO of Porsche Cars North America, the response was the warranty had elapsed!!! The moral of the story, be cautious with your Porsche Dealers and their represenations.

More or less a car that needs to be serviced and maintained after several years of ownership. Beware of the first few years 'trouble' free status as this suddenly changes around year 4. The quality and workmanship rapidly decline. I know, I have had the car since 1999.
