Strength:

looks...style....performance. The handling of this car is outstanding

Weakness:

none

i own a Porsche boxster 2.5. Its black with sportster wheels. It is the best looking car ive ever seen/owned. Im 23 and i am not joking when i say everyone you pass turns there heads. The power of the car is quick and from 2nd to 3rd gear its increabable. Poeple that write replies to reviews about the boxster always hammer it. Why? because they cant afford one and there get jelous.

Strength:

Handling, free revving engine, 70 MPH in 2nd gear, decent cargo room for its type, convertible top goes up and down in a snap, exhaust note is like a symphony!

Weakness:

Rear window (plastic, soils easily, impossible to clean), engine runs rough if you do not let it warm up for a minute or two. I drive mine on the weekends, and it can be rough if its been left in the garage unused for more than a week.

Stellar handling, great looks, fast, but not super fast, Black on Tan, feel like a million bucks when driven

Strength:

Interior detail. Stereo system. Engine performance. Feel and look of the car.

Weakness:

Doors vibrate when the stereo is on. Sounds like loose change is inside of them. The roof retractor has broken three times. The back right brakes squeak. The dealership said it was normal. Engine overheated and shut down once. I also own a Jeep Wrangler..actually the sixth one and I believe that all of them together have gone to the shop a total of three times. Four of them never went at all. I know everyone at the Porsche shop by their first names. The back window also has issues if you compare it to the BMW Z4.

While in College I had a picture of a Porsche that said study hard. So I am very picky when it comes to this car. But since I work in automotive manufacturing for a BMW supplier I know what quality is about. Porsche has found it. If now they could only master the service area. They seem to pay a lot of attention to the building of the cars, but the service is something to be desired. The techs have an understanding of the car. What they lack is the expertise. Once the service tech replaced the cup holder with another color. Excuse was that he was color blind. Quality control?

Strength:

Handling, engine, looks, performance, service intervals (15K miles!), two trunks.

Weakness:

Space for driver is tight, plastic rear window, the car is expensive and will likely depreciate more than some.

Outstanding car - better than I had expected. Performance of the S is much better than the standard. Handling is beyond belief. I used to have an 1984 911 Carrera Targa - considered by many to be the "perfect" Porsche. Air-cooled, great engine and performance, lots of room and very reliable. So far, the Boxster S has exceeded my every expectation. The only thing I really miss from the Carrera is the engine sound of the air cooled flat 6, but the Boxster's engine really sounds more like a race car's, just quieter. The handling is better, the aircon is way better, the sound system is quite excellent (digital sodund and upgraded speakers), and the looks gibe me the willies (that's a good thing). I thought the 911 was a very good looking car but the Boxster is the most attractive car I have seen in a long time (well, maybe a Ferrari 360 Modena is nicer, but hey, it better be!) It is a little tight for a 6'2 guy but acceptable. For trips, the two trunks, front and back, are amazing - my brother and I got two sets of golf clubs (in smaller travel bags) in there. WOW! The six speed tranny is well matched to the engine and pick-up is very good. It is actually more than a full second quicker to 60 mph than my old 911, but didn't seem like it. Deceptive smoothness. Top speed is beyond my abilities to reach - I chickened out at 140 mph and it was still climbing fast! Claimed to be 165 or so.

Strength:

Pure beauty. It is sexy, fast and handles great. Power top is fast. Love the looks I get when driving it. Makes commuting a breeze.

Weakness:

Had a problem with the sensor for the convertable top. Had to be replaced. Cost $125. Rear window never looks quite clean enough. Visors vibrate.

Waited 2 years for this. I absolutely love it! I get sheer pleasure each time i get in it. Beautiful ocean blue with tan interior. Blue top, perfect! The handling is superb, very comfortable seats. It is the best thing I have ever purchased!!!

Strength:

Looks great. Drives great

Weakness:

Low on power and if you get one thats bad you'll have to suck it up.

With less than 7000 "babied" miles it drops a motor in my driveway. Blew a rod or something. Of course its covered by warranty..Big deal. Try to sell a car like this with a replaced motor. No Matter how they try to tell you this "good thing" because you get a new motor, it DOES diminish the marketabilty of the car. Dealership offered to take it back at 10k loss to myself on a trade. How generous of them. My problem here is that when you buy a car like this you expext a little more. Im sure it's rare to have a problem like this but if you get one, be assured your stuck with it.

Strength:

Handling, styling

Weakness:

Reliability. 3 engines in 16,000 miles is ludicrous. None of them were abused. Used prices drop quickly!

Bought one of the early models and have had a number of problems, including 3 enginers in 16,000 miles. Bought the car because I had owned 3 911's and thought Porsche was a reliable performance car. This one has been a headache that stay with me. First engine blew at 13,500 miles. I was told by Porsche rep that problem was in the block, metal too porous so water and oil mixed. Second engine blew at dealer when I went to pick it up. Porsche installed new third enginer but I have still had problems. Brother owns a Miata with 90,000 miles and no major problems.

Weakness:

My vehicle now has 55,000 miles, its been extremely low maintenense over its 5 years. Lately my top during retracting one side of the cable snapped and boot bent. Has any other Boxster owners face this same issue. Took into the dealer today, and indicated repair will likely exceed $1,000.00. I wish to understand if there has been any frequency of problems with the top>?

This is one outstanding vehicle, handling is precise
