Strength:

Looks, versatility, features. Best of the crop in 1993.

Weakness:

Fuel consumption compared to cars.

Purchased the vehicle in 12/1993 with 6 miles now it is 10/2000 and now it has 93,000 miles. During the first year it needed a new power steering pump (covered under warranty.) Within the first 3 years, the voltage regulator on the alternator went bad, replaced the whole alternator (under warranty.) I have done routine maint. of the veh including greasing chasis, oil changes, anti-freeze changes, belt changes, tires, shocks, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotar, fuel filter, and a couple I forget. Besides a couple of accidents and some near misses I have only had those 2 probles (knock on wood.) It just goes to show you that just about any vehicle that is taken care of (spend some money) you can keep a vehicle running well for a long period of time. This vehicle is not rated well in Consumer Reports for reliability and some other things; but I have not found that (knock on wood, again!)

I would recomend this vehicle even know the body style is different. Chevrolet has kept the same enginge and trasmission in the vehicle for over 10 years. The engine and transmission are one of if not the most reliable Chevrolet has produced.

I paid 26,000 dollars and to this day I do not regret any penny of it.

"Have you driven a Ford latley?"!?!?

Strength:

Solid, comfortable, it is in shape until now, reliable

Weakness:

litle noise in the back door

I paid 25000 aprox in June 1994. I strongly recomend it. It has been used in Quito, Ecuador, which is alomost 9,000 feet over sea level, and carried me and familiy in trips to fishing (4,200 mts over sea level) in very bad roads (dust, rocks, deep mud, etc.)This vehicle works very well even the bad conditios of roads in this country. No special treatmen but regular visit to garage accordin to its manual. I have changed in six year, shocks and tires. Driving conditions in this country are not equal to those in the USA, where a I used to spend my vacation year to year. I ddon intend to sell it. I´m planing to keep it for a while.

Strength:

Comfortable ride, minimal road noise. looks good. nice stereo.

Weakness:

so much plastic in the interior. rattles started imediately after driving off dealers lot. every day a new rattle appears.engine hesitates sporadically, especially with the a/c on.

chevy seems to have low quality standards. i think its all tied into the Unions. the workers just want to get a big pay check, and the manufacturer just wants high production, so they both agree to work together to put vehicles out that look like trucks, or suvs, or cars. they look great on the outside. its what you cant see on the inside that is scary. would recommend it, as long as the buyer doesnt have high quality expectations. remember, its all cheap american mass produced plastic.

Very very powerful!!! over 250 horsepower. I raced a nissan pathfinder and i kicked its ass!! 4.3liter v-6 very strong engine and its fast too. excellent for towing.

Weakness:

sqeeky back window

I paid $5500 for it in 1999 and it runs great. there is no other truck that i would want. Its powerful, fast, and reliable. It can beat any foriegn suv out there. Don't buy any other of those fu*king sh*tty suvs. Buy a blazer they fu*king kick ass. I put a k and N air filter which adds 15 more horse power. I increased air flow which makes it faster.

Weakness:

Constantly in the shop. To date I have replaced the following - Belt tension control, alternator, battery, A/C compressor, A/C evaporator, muffler, temp control sensor and the A/C is still not working up to par. I have had it to 2 dealers and in the shop 11 times. This vehicle only has 40k miles and all of the parts died since 30k miles. Had a GM Protection Plan extended warranty that covered most of the costs. But after having it the shop for a total of 15 days seems a little out of line. Be careful, the GM Protection plan is not what it's cut out to be.

Paid $21k, 1 yr old. I will NEVER buy another GM product again. "Built like a rock" is a false statement. They sink like rocks.

Model Reviewed: Blazer LS 4DR 4WD

Strength:

-comfortable seats
-nice running engine
-nice shifting transmission
-comfortable and well designed interior
-excellent 4WD system

Weakness:

-poor quality control throughout the vehicle
-steering is mush, tends to wander on any road surface
-cheap plastic parts, many of which have broken
-front brakes need to be replaced about every 15000-17000 mi.
-lots of rattles, and buzzing from dashboard, windows, rear hatch etc.
-very unreliable
-vehicle was not inspected before delivery. Almost all of the fluid levels were low and there was no owners manual

We bought this truck for 27500,which was also the lowest price for any of the suv's we considered. The first test drive of the Blazer felt very good, however the goodness of it quickly faded. We had problems with it in the first week we owned it and they continue to be frequent and frustrating. Before we took delivery of the Blazer, the rear door had to be realigned,a body molding replaced and an owners manual found. Before it had 1000 miles it started clunking from the suspension, which was found to be a defective drop link in the rear.Soon after that it started making a growling noise at any speed over 45 mph which resulted in a complete front differential rebuild, and later a partial rebuild of the rear differential.
Since then it has had the lower ball joints replaced, the idler arm replaced, the power steering rebuilt, the water pump replaced, along with a faulty thermostat which was causing it to overheat, has had many plastic parts break in the interior and currently has developed a leak in the oil cooler line.Get the picture? This vehicle has been very bad to own, however it still has been a fairly nice vehicle to drive and spend time in.If it was more reliable we would probably be very happy with it.I would not recommend a Blazer to anyone, and will probably never buy another one.We are currently looking for something to trade it in on.Chevrolet is redesigning the Blazer for 2001 or 2002 model year.Hope they can build it properly.I have bought many Chevrolet cars in the past and have had good luck with them. This one has been a real disappointment! Guess it's time for a toyota.

Strength:

-Great engine power
-Amazing gas mileage... 27-33 hw, 18-25 city
-Great handling... mostly due to short wheel base
-Interior very nice, roomy, plenty of cargo space

Weakness:

-Only had a few problems with it so far, but nothing that couldn't be fixed by myself or my dad.
-Paint coming off in a few places, not very noticeable though.

Considering it was given to me by my parents, I really had no choice of whether or not I got it. I am VERY pleased with this vehicle. The only downtimes I have had were very simple problems (7 year old battery went, positive terminal cables loose) that really had nothing to do with any manufacturing issues. I have found GM vehicles to be extremely reliable and would recommend them to anyone. I like the body style and design of GM vehicles in particular over that of Ford and Chrysler's...

This vehicle is great for a student like myself who is involved in many things. I haul lots of stuff around in this truck.. musical instruments, sound equipment, people, rocks, plants, etc. Handling is consistent even with heavy loads.

Strength:

N-O-T-H-I-N-G!!!

Weakness:

-Gas mileage blows. I get maybe around 12 mpg hwy. less than that in the city.
-I'm a large guy and this thing feels cramped. There is no room up front, but back seat room is ok.
-The gas gauge is a little bar(all gauges are)and it is constantly moving back and forth. It read full one minute, the next it had gone down 1/4 of the way. Who knows how much gas is in the tank?
-The so called 200hp is not there. It takes forever to get up to speed and constantly tries finding the right gear.
-Power seat controls messed up yesterday. The driver's sear is suck with no lumbar support, and it will not move in any direction.
-HANDLING IS AWFUL. MY OLD NEON WAS THE BEST HANDLING CAR. TOOK A CORNER WITH EASE. THIS THING FEELS LIKE IT WILL TIP OVER.
-SAFETY SUCKS. THE BLAZER WILL TRAP YOU INSIDE IF YOU HIT SOMETHING. IT BUCKLES TO FORM A TRAP.

I was an idiot for even liking this thing. It seemed nice at the time. I regret giving up the Neon. It was die-hard reliable. Always started up and was good to me like I was to it. I treat the Blazer right with no abuse and turns out to be junk. My first problem was the interior lights staying on. Had to have that fixed. Now the power seating. The seats are like boards. The lumbar was good, but won't work now. Now I only hope I never hit a Geo Metro or Nissan Sentra. I'll be trapped inside while they get out and see if I am ok!

too bad 0 stars isn't an option!

The Neon has BETTER crash results than the Blazer. I would expect a large, heavy vehicle to not buckle and trap occupants inside. The Neon doesn't trap you like the tin can does.
