E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!!!!!! If I had it to do all over again, I would. I have had to replace the muffler 3 times in less than 8 months. The windshield wipers don't work. The left back window and the front right window don't go down. It's keyless entry don't work even after new batteries. And tons more. I believe if you add the repair and the gas it drinks up in no time.I have paid for this thing twice or more.

I paid $21,000.00 dollars for my blazer. The money could have went on something better. And I would most definetly not reccomend it to anyone, unless you like a lot of heartache and trouble. And love to spend a lot of money.

Well I only had it for 3 months before I was hit by a drunk driver! The combined speed was about 40mph. I now have a large scar on the back of my head because of the lack of control while rebounding from the airbag. My head hit the window sill and gave me a bad head injury. On top of that my head only hit the side of the airbag because the car twisted and the steering wheel was forced to the side. Because of that my whole body nearly missed the airbag. I also have a broken foot and leg because the dash crunched in about a foot. By the time help arrived I could not move because the whole structure had buckled and crushed me in that tin can! The other driver was driving a Pontiac Bonneville.....I was taken out by a car! He had ONE scrach on his hand. It is a tin can!!!!! Don't forget it!!!

If you have a death wish, this is the car for you! 40mph isn't that fast, and if a VW. Bettle can get a five star rating why can't a car with a much larger front end, at least get 3 stars?? Check out the site highwaysafety.org. It has pictures, and ratings of nearly 100 cars. Your life is worth it!!!!!

Looks nice.

Weakness:

This thing is garbage. I now have 88K miles. Repairs: Brake pads (5 times), roters (2 times), tranny replaced at 25K miles, brake vaccum assist replaced at 18,000, water pump replaced 3 days ago, Service Engine Soon light came on and had some kind of Emissions chip replaced 3 times! CV boots replaced. Left radiater tank replaced at 68k, Right at 80K. Now left is craked again!! Fuel pump had to be replaced. Upper control arm bushings and lower ball joints are now toast. Rattles horribly now and started at 20K miles. Cheap plastic interior and too much of it. Alternator replaced 4 times. Belt Tensioner replaced. Battery replaced 4 times. Compressor replaced at 70K, now leaking again! Alternator not powerful enough to handle A/C unit - lights dim when A/C on. Driver power window motor replaced recently. And more...

Paid 25K, if you really hate someone, sell them this vehicle. I will never buy a GM product (and possibly any American vehicle) again. How dare they take my $25K and in exchange for this!! I am switching to a Japanese model - Nissan, etc.

Size, ride, and over all functional utility

Weakness:

Its starting to show its age at 160k miles, but aside from the headgasket, and the expected replacement of the water pump and starter, have had no real problems with her.

I bought the truck used as the third owner and it had been meticulously cared for. I have followed in the previous path and out of a purchase price of $17,000 have only spent $2000 on repairs and replacement. At 160K miles she is beginning to show her age, but nothing that is not easily repairable. I would recommend another like her in a heart beat.

Paid 26,000 in '97. Trans went at 15,000 miles. Im gettin a 2 TRANS in now at 43,000. GM is warrenty the 2 trans. They are trying to blame me, but they are WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they build a truck, build it RIGHT AT the factory!!!!! I will not buy another GM car or SUV from them again. Had problems with the speakers, and the fuse for the tailgate, horn, and the interiors lights. Very unhappy with them. Going to buy a Dodge.

Strength:

Good power and fuel for an SUV, factory stereo powerful, power sun roof big and open, roomy, affordable lease packages.

Weakness:

The rear spare mounted on back of car impacts rear visability, plastic storge casing for tire jack keeps falling off. door storage can get in the way while getting in and out of vehicle. Driver seat will not allow you to load a passenger wont bend forward enough.

For the price this vehicle came with a nice standard package and overall it has been nothing but great. the lease rates are the most competitive out there and no japan car maker could keep up. Japan cars rust to easily i have had grat success with GM trucks and rust.

Strength:

Besides the powerful engine and push button four wheel drive, this truck is definatly "like a rock!!" I got hit head on by a drunk driver in a Honda, needless to say I was perfectly fine, but the other driver went to the E.R in a stretcher. Her car was totalled and as I look at my truck, I see red Honda paint on my bumper and a bent towing hook. That was all!!

Weakness:

It rattles a little bit on the inside. The spark plugs are a real pain to change, and the fuel filter is in the middle of no where. Other then that, it's great!

I paid around $15,000, bought it off a leas with about 36,000 miles. I would definatly recommend it to anyone. It is a great truck, that will get you out of any jam you can manage to get yourself in. Trust me, this truck will last you longer than most other imports out there.

Strength:

-Good power. I felt the V6 was definetly strong enough for me.
-Very spacey. I frequently did long road trips and it certainly seemed very spacey to me.
-Good gas mileage for an SUV

Weakness:

-A little unreliable. It liked to break in different areas about four years after purchase.
-Many of the problems could be traced back to the repair center at the dealership. They were a big problem in this area. If you live in the Nashua region I STRONGLY don't recommend that you use the dealerships services. A private repair shop has informed us of many things that the dealership has swindeled us on.
-Rattling is a common theme with this car I guess (seen with other reviews) but I always associated it with my two 12 inch subwoofers.

I highly recommend this car if you are in the market for an SUV. It is perfect. Don't go with one of those large suburbans or excursions (these are an insult to our environment).

I'm trading my beloved Blazer in for a Subaru Outback because of my lack of need for an SUV. Plus the Outback provides all the features of an SUV but with better gas mileage. And for all anti-Japanese car consumers, I would buy an american made station wagon if there were any with four wheel drive! Unfortunately Subaru makes the only decently priced and decently reliable one. Sorry America!

Jeep Grand Cherokee - this car is too luxurios for my taste and it is too small. I fell really crammed up when driving it.
Ford Explorer - this car is the other polar end of the spectrum. I felt like I was driving a bus compared the the blazer. It handles about the same as the blazer and it much larger. But the gas mileage sucks.
(trust me, i've had my fair share of time driving both vehicles)

Model Reviewed: 4dr 4wd Tahoe

Strength:

Extremely reliable, great heater, dependable 4wd, no problems with drivetrain, electronics work well, very manueverable, can fit 4 6'ft adults no problem, good radio, cheap parts (body).

Weakness:

has an annoying front end squeak from bushings, doesn't stop as well as it could, vibration in 4wd above 50-55mph, rear window squeak. This vehicle was purchased as a rollover and had to have almost the entire outside reworked, so some rattles and squeaks I expect. Gas mileage is about 13mpg in winter. Front seats don't seem to fit right.

The older ones such as mine are not bad. If you can get one for a reasonable amount, they are as dependable as anything I've driven. I've invested very little (outside of body work) since I've had it since 1994. The most expensive was last year when 2 sensors failed and it started to stall. That was $300.00. Other than normal maintenance, nothing else. It's definitely not a hanger queen.

Model Reviewed: S10 Blazer

Strength:

Good power and fair fuel economy for a SUV. Interior is roomy, maintenance is fairly easy for the do-it-yourselfer. Easy to find parts.

Weakness:

Bouncy ride even after shocks were replaced. Rear hatch squeaked constantly and wouldn't stay open like it was supposed to. Noisy ride on the freeway, from squeaks and rattles and wind noise.

Bought it used in '93, paid 10,500. Got our money's worth. Drove it 3 times from Las Vegas to WI with no problems. Ran a little warm, but never overheated. Got good gas mileage even through the mountains. A/C wasn't the coldest, but worked nonetheless. Never had to replace a major component, only kept up on routine maintenance and fix prior repairs done incorrectly. Electric window switches went out at about 40K. Only recurring problems were the service engine light would come on intermittently and engine would cut out every now and then, but didn't cause any major problems. Never could find the culprit. Wouldn't trust the dealer or GM mechanics, they'll soak you for everything they can.
Overall a solid vehicle worth the money. Good for anyone who want a roomy vehicle but not a giant beast, or status symbol.
