Strength:

Cool looking, looks old fashioned, The new version of what it used to look like back in the old days. Nice car to take a date out in for the old stylish look.

Weakness:

I think this car is priced way to much than it is really worth. The PT Cruiser is exactly like a Rasied Neon. I know this because I drive Dodge Neons and PT Cruisers all the time at work. Everything is exactly the same inside of a PT Cruiser as it is in a Neon The Dash is totally the same besides the power window openers are on the dash besides that it there really isn't any difference.

For the most part they are cool to drive because of the outside look that is good at cathing the eye of other drivers. However I would never perchase one because I believe that they are charging too much for a raised Neon.

Dodge Neon is almost exactly what the PT Cruiser is. I bet if you were to change the bodies of the cars you would see that the same body of the PT Cruiser is the same as a neon. No wonder it has a 4 cylinder engine

Strength:

Out of the box thinking. Fit and finish seem great.

Weakness:

Had to pay MSRP.

This is my first fun car. Kids have flown the nest, and only have to put people in this Cruiser I want there. Look forward to driving anytime I can. Can't help to visit the garage much to often. The Limited Package gives one all the bells and whistles one could want. Deep Cranberry color with the chome wheels is the only way to go. Just passed my 1000 mile mark and couldn't be happier. My back roads commute each day (50 miles) is perfect for this car. Like not seeing one every time I go out. Heads turn and co-workers still walk around it during lunch and breaks. Want to feel good, DO IT!

Strength:

Supremely solid.
Smooth ride for a small vehicle.
Only had one trip to garage in 11 months for warranty work... seal leaked on A/C.
Handles nicely at high speeds, and is also a great city car. I drove it in NYC and it was sweet to be able to get around so easily.
One of the best sounding OEM stereos I've heard, if you buy the subwoofer.
Very comfortable to drive.
Dash gauges and controls, cup holders, etc., placed nicely for driver's convenience.
Fun and practical, too!

Weakness:

Trivial things:
Bucket seats have no leg bolsters, so whatever you're carrying on the passenger seat rolls off the side on turns.
Gas mileage isn't great, but expected with the weight of the car and camming of the engine.
Blind spots force you to be really, really careful, especially when backing up.
If you want the windows down at high speeds, you have to have at least three open (or two and the sunroof) or the throbbing wind noise will make your ears bleed.
People will tell you "I saw you at such-and-such" on a daily basis. You will not be able to have an affair with anyone in your county. :)

Of all the cars I've owned, this is the first that was a total impulse buy... I saw one, looked it up on the internet, and then clicked the "buy this car" button. I had never even driven one! I got to order what I wanted, only had to wait 5 months, and have never regretted it. I have the manual transmission... plenty of pep there considering how heavy the car is. Invest the extra $ for the OEM subwoofer, and you will have a superb stereo on wheels. Handles the road exceptionally well, and is a very solid car. Feels substantial without being ponderous. And after 11 months, still no rattles. Unheard of on Pennsylvania roads! Has some minor annoyances, but what car doesn't? Super-practical, too. I've hauled two huge bouquets of flowers, a weight bench and weight set, plus the dog, all at the same time! I love it!

Strength:

Style! Visually this car is awesome. The interior space it comfortable even in the back seat if you are 6 feet tall and over.

Weakness:

After 12,000 miles the brakes are out of warranty. From day one we had problems with the brakes making noise. All 3 trips back to the dealer they told us this was just break noise from dust. At about 20,000 miles the breaks began to grind. We took the car in to the dealer and they said the brakes were not under warrany and they had just worn out. I found this hard to believe due to the fact only one of the brakes were shot. Just the front passanger side. The rest were slightly worn. We spoke to a fellow Cruiser owner and told them what had occured. They said they had the same noise. They took their Cruiser back to the dealer and requested they replace the brake pads. The dealer did and the owner has not had anymore noise from her brakes. The Paint. On the front of the Cruiser the paint chips off from bugs hitting the surface. I would hope Chrysler will address this in future models as I have seen many complaints bout this issue. Last is power But keep in mind this is only a four cylinder engine. But for the very low gas milage I would want more power.

I really do Like my Cruiser! I just have some different expectations from dealers and Chrysler then the are willing to support. I do not think that a cars breaks should be shot after 12,000 miles and the dealer should consistantly blow you off when you make requests for service on a contiuning issue. As far as the paint goes we are going the have holographic paint flames put on the front of our Cruiser and ask the shop that does it to put a high grade sealer on top to prevent future chips. The power issue is not really big but again I would expext more for the bad gas milage. I am really posting all this so other Cruiser owners who might be victims of the bad brakes can do somthing about it be fore they get charged $500 to get rotors and pads replaced. My over all rating is assuming I could get this car with a V6 next time.

Strength:

Comfort; also easily seats 5. It has a wonderful look and feel, and a great sound system.

Weakness:

Slight blind spot in back; be very careful backing up. When driving on the freeway and speed is decreased, it's a little lazy picking back up again.

This car is fabulous. It's very functional because it's perfect for leisure and home tasks like hauling a load from the Home Store. If you need a car and the convenience of a light truck, this is your car. I was able to get French doors in AND close the rear door! That's functionality. All the seats (except driver's) completely recline, including the passenger, and the car holds a lot of mdse.

Strength:

The style of course plus the fact that it is just an all around smart utility car.

Weakness:

The rear breaks are howling cause the calipers are sticking or the pads are bad. Very loud and embarassing ! Dealership won't fix it till they can duplicate the problem hower enoise stops the second I pull into the dealership and thats three times now. Also the audio is poor, backing up I run over little kids and dogs, and front seats are made ofr short people very fatiguing on long rides.

Cool is the word. Total Chick Magnet ! Plus with an Apple Macintosh sticker it goes faster.

Strength:

I hear a lot of complaints about sluggishness, but don't feel this is a problem after driving a 4-cylinder Cherokee for years. I go up a very hilly road to home, and can keep it in fifth all the way. The seats fit me very comfortably, and I'm tall and long-legged. I like the convenience of the dash, placement of cup holders, and the fold-down in the back. Works great as my office away from home.

Weakness:

Major repair at 5,000 miles, a huge disappointment. Main seal was leaking badly, so the engine and tranny had to be dropped, and the seal replace. And I had to fight with Chrysler to get me a loaner in the meantime. I'm a visiting nurse, and cannot do without a car. The dealer-Nemer in Queensbury-finally called the main office and got a loaner for me. They will be watching the car closely to see if the seal holds. Crank case pressure was normal. Now I do get a sour smell when I turn on the AC, but it's becoming less.

I drove a 1947 Plymouth for years, and missed the style and comfort. When the saw the Cruiser, I had to have it. Waited 9 months for our local dealer to deliver, then saw an ad from Advantage, and they had one for me in 6 weeks, as promised. I got red, and added black fenders to give it that old-time look. Get lots of positive comments. It's great to have a car that looks old, but has modern features like AC. I could easily live without power windows, vacuum hoses, and a two-piece block...but, hey, that's "progress."

Similar Products Used:

Owned a full-size van and a mini-van before this. Both Dodges. The mini was a 4 cylinder also, and stalled every time I shifted into first from a stop if the AC was on. This is no problem with the cruiser. Comfort is even better than the van. Storage isn't as big, but I'm not shuffling kids anymore, so I don't care. Mileage wasn't great on either, for a four cylinder, but better than the Cherokee.
