Strength:

Comfortable with every one on long trips.

Weakness:

Trans,Brakes,Engine Power Control Module,Front&Rear suspension always sqks,Transfer case grinds.

I purchased this thing used with 118,000mi the worst mistake i ever made. The gas mi was not good it runs rough and dies when sitting at stop lights. So i thought a tune up with new wires might help. Not It still runs like crap i only get 200 miles out of a tank of gas. The rear brakes lock up and i think the tranny is going. So it pretty much sits in my carport.I am on dissibilty so i cant just go and trade it in.And when i have it looked at i am told nothing is wrong, alot of these problems dodge should have coverd under warranty i am not the only one that has gotten stuck with one of these.

Strength:

Big and great sounding V 8 engine.
Nice looking body and fits all my kids well.

Weakness:

Transmission, Transmission, Transmission and multiple other problems listed above.

This is definitely a SUV that should have been recalled by Chrysler! It has had multiple transmission problems which resulted in putting a new tranny in at a cost of $3,500. Both front and rear windows on passenger side will not go down, console lid broke and will not close, it goes through brakes and rotors like a fat kid in a candy shop!! We also own a 98 Dodge Ram and it seems to be ok but the check out other message boards and you will find the same major complaint, THE TRANSMISSION IS JUNK!!

Strength:

*Seating for 8
*Superioir look and quality
*3 Year 50K mile warranty
*Very smooth ride
*Easy shifting
*Excellent acceleration
*Great braking system

Weakness:

*Fuel economy

This is by far the largest, and smoothest vehicle I have ever owned. I used to have a Chevrolet Avalanche and this is by far the better vehicle in my book. The new Durango offers more room and a more smooth ride while keeping the look of today's luxury vehicles. The 4.7 V-8 offers excellent shifting that is undetecable while driving, and the easy shifting allows for virtually no interior noise while driving. The stereo in this vehicle absolutely amazing offering beautiful sound with the individual settings that allows the driver to control the bass, treble, and the mids. The wood grain dash (Available in the SLT Model) is another feature that adds to the stylish look of this SUV. The wood that is used is a natural wood that is not composed of plastic, its actual wood with a laminate finish. The dual climate features with rear air control allows for everyone in the vehicle to be comfortable while driving, even in the worst weather conditions. Moving back to the rear seats, the amount of room that is offered to the passengers is absolutely amazing. The seats in the rear offer enough room for a large sized adult, while still offering comfort throughout the entire ride. The third row seats (Also available in the SLT model) is another feature that makes this SUV stunning. There is enough room in here as a full size SUV such as a Surburban, yet the vehicle still maintains the compact look like similar SUV's on the market. The fuel economy in this vehcile is one of the major drawbacks averaging 14MPG in the city and 19MPG on the highway. Normally before going to purchase a vehicle that has a V8, you shoudl expect the fuel economy to be a drawback. I can't offer an opinion on the 4.7 Vs. the 5.7 Hemi although I know that the Hemi is well worth the added price if you need the towing strength, and additional tourqe. In my case I only needed a vehcile that was reliable, yet offered the power and room for my family. Overall this vehicle is a must have and the features of this American made SUV is beyond overwhelming and in my opinion is worth every cent.

Strength:

Smoother ride than my 1999 and 2001 Durango.

Weakness:

Vehicle is way oversized compared to oldr model. Barely fits in garage with another car. Mileage as always stinks. Seats are unforgiving if you have a back problem. When you get in you bump your knees on dash if not careful from DS or Pass. side. Dealers support is rude and unprofessional at best. Hope the owner of the dealership flies to his vacation spot because if drove a Durango he very well would be broke down or out of money long before he arrived to his destination from repairs and gas.

2 Hours after purchasing my suv and leaving the dealership with my used 22,000 mile vehicle I tried to return it because it had problems related to the winshield, drivers seat and the fuel tank. Dealer refused to take back the vehicle or correct the problems even though they admit it indeed has a problem. This is my 3rd durango but never again. The dealer will see me in a courtroom and no matter what the outcome this vehicle and that sorry excuse of a dealership will be out of my life forever. Dodge should make a better products but they should insist on a good network to repair their mistakes in regard to quality.

Best suv we have owned, handles corners like a sports car. Lots of power for towing our 5500lb camper. Smooth ride all the way. This is the third suv we have owned and would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

-Gas mileage (but I knew what it was when I bought it)

I bought this truck with $35,000 miles. It just turned 100,000 hard-driven miles. It tows a 5000# boat all summer long for 3 years without a problem. I've driven from ths Midwest to the East Coast many times without a worry. My biggest repair bill was a recent heater core replacement for $500. I drive this like it's a sports car and abuse the crap out of it and has not let me down yet.

Gas mileage

This was my dream SUV I waited for almost a year after they came out with the 4 wheel drives first. I have had very little problems with this vehicle. I started out from the very beginning using Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It now has 2 hundred thousand miles on it and going strong. I have replaced the ball joints at 154K miles, and 2 speakers. Other than the gas mileage it was a very good investment for the money. I was having problems with it not running good but changed gas stations from Mobil to Shell and she runs great now. She just doesnt like Mobil gas for some reason.

Nice interior, roomy, looks good, COLD a/c all over, great stereo, comfortable on long trips, heated front seats are nice on cold mornings

Weakness:

Gas mileage not great, rides a little rough on rough roads

Bought this car used in 2003 with 28k miles on it - but in excellent, mint condition. Needed it to haul around kids and their friends. It has been a great car and done everything I wanted it to. Tons of room for all our stuff - I've hauled furniture, camping gear, pets, etc. The third seat really comes in handy and we can comfortably seat 7 people when we have to. A/C works great and is just as good and cold in the 3rd seat in the back as the front. Stereo is best I've ever had. The only thing negative thing I could say is that it rides a little rough on bad roads, gravel roads, etc. But hey, it's a truck frame, so that's to be expected. My kids are grown and driving their own cars now and it's mostly just me in the car so I'll probably be trading it in soon for a compact car - but I'll miss my Durango!
