A.C is not working( I think theres a Leak) Bas Gas Mileage. I get about 13.4 average. About half city half highway

Car is Amazing! Runs and drives like a dream. I bought with 82,000 miles on it and now have over 90,000 and it drives like its new. I got worried at first. Because after i bought it I read these reviews and got a little worried. Remember this they sell about 100,000 durangos a year. Usually only the people that have problems with them write reviews. These cars are built like tanks. I have the 4.7 liter engine

Room. Power. Very attractive look, Sound system.Comfy seats for long trips. Pretty much everything.

Weakness:

Gas hog.A/C could be stronger.

Got this car as an 18th birthday present with only 17,400 miles on it, and for a few thousand under blue book.Have since put about 20k on in 8 months and have had no problems so far. Recently took it in for an oil change and the dealer changed the ball joints and rotated the tires for free. I love how roomy it is and needless to say this is the car my friends and I always take out. I do highway driving almost exclusively and only get 17 mpg. Love that is has the same engine as my parents 2004 Ram 1500 so it can really haul. Have had no engine or electrical problems to speak of and the 4 disc changer is great. Only complaint is that mine doesn't have rear air or a moon roof. And the a/c could blow a little colder for these hot Texas summers. Would definetly buy a new Durango if I liked the styling but it looks like it's going to be a Pathfinder instead.

Plenty of room, very comfortable, quite ride. Looks great. Very good price.

Weakness:

can't think of any yet.

I walked into the used dealer lot and was quite pleasantly surprised to find such a great vehicle at this great price. The SUV had 14600 miles, but the exterior and enterior were so clean it could of just been out of the showroom. The truck is much higher than my previous truck, a Dakota, and so the running boards sure come in handy when climbing into what seems the huge interior. The leather seating is much more comfortable than expected. Awesome stereo system, and the gauges are all very easy to read with the new background. The ride in the truck was extremely comfortable on the long trip this past weekend, and everyone on board had more than enough room to spread out. The 3rd seat is also a nice option, although it virtually eliminated any interior cargo room. But hey, the truck is longer, so there is more room on the room to carry all the junk you might not fit insited. The V8 delivered more than enough power for my needs, and the handling was great on the road, even on the snow-covered roads.

I like the power of the vehicle and the size they are comfortable.

Weakness:

TRANSMISSION

I bought the car with 29,000 miles and I did not think I needed a warranty next time I will get that. I had 49,000 miles on it and the transmission it cost me 2800 dollars factory warranty went out on 36000 miles so they would not replace it. But I do like my car dont get me wrong I just dont see how a transmission can go out with that little miles the car is only 2 years old. It just makes me mad when I see the commercials and they are talking about the HEMI well what good is the hemi if you dont have a transmission. From my experience I will never own a dodge or a chrysler vehicle. If you choose to buy one make sure you have a really good warranty.

Strength:

Nice looks, Hemi motor, sound system. Perfect Handling

Weakness:

Door framing.

The truck is very good, nevertheless we have had 2 minor problems which have made us to go to the dealer. One door was not properly welded or adjusted and when driving on highway the air noise was big and had to be adjusted, so far this has not been a problem anymore. 2. the air conditioner was clogged since it got too much gas on the compressor. It was fixed quite easily and no mayor problems have arise. Regarding handling is quite good, and I am not used to drive SUV´s since I do have a 2+2 coupe, dodge stratus. The limited version is superb, sound system is quite good, but I would like a little more bass, I think this was done in order to not loose clearness on sound. The hemi motor is great, and Gas mileage is good on Freeway or Interstate highway. Is not a complaint from me. The leather seat are good with great grip for driver. The automatic air conditioner is very good and helps to reduce fuel usage, since compressor is not working at the same rate.

The price is low for how much truck you get. Nice smooth ride.

Weakness:

Gas mileage

Had it for a really short time but I fall in love with it more and more each time I get to drive it. I love the look of it and the inside is really nice for the price. We looked at Chevy SUVs as well as Fords and they are all over priced. We got a much nicer vehicle for way less. We have the limited and the interior is really nice. Love the 3 seats, has nice leg room for the average height person. Great fold flat 3rd row bench seat. Alot of extras but you dont feel like you paid too much. The ride is so smooth and its a pretty comfortable truck. Really impressed with the all over features and look of the truck and feel like I got a great deal!

- Great engine! Plenty of power - 4.7 liter ave. 15mpg, tows things with no problem. - lots of room - gets around well in snow

Weakness:

- Suspension is disappointing, I've had to replace both leaf-springs and a part in the front suspension (don't recal what). Thankfully covered under extended warranty. - For the price, interior is cheap looking and seats are not that comfortable.

We bought our 2001 Durango new and 3 short years we've already put 74,000 miles on it. Overall we have been happy with it. We've taken it on numerous family vacations, loaded down with luggage, bikes, and more. We have the SLT version with leather interior and power everything. There's plenty of room inside, and the third row seat has come in useful. I've also taken the vehicle off road when hunting and the vehicle has performed well. Has gone through snow very well too in 4x4. I was able to pull a pop-up camper in the wilderness through muddy unimproved roads with no trouble. Ride though is bumpy and not that comfortable when driving on highway.

Strength:

HEMI motor, 4 wheel drive, 3rd row seat, folding seats into the floor, 380 watt Infinity radio. Fast for a 5400 lb SUV. 4 wheel disc brakes. Traction control.

Weakness:

Gas milage.. you will see the needle drop before your eyes. Not much legroom in back second and third rows. Not tons of headroom up front for taller people about 6" 2".

Well I have had this SUV for about 3 weeks and really love it. The new Durango is far superior to the old 03' and previous models. Dodge finally got smart and dumped the old SUV entirely and started out with a brand new look. Everything is completely different. I like the wider, taller, larger, longer Durango. I got the leather with heated seats which work great. Also got a HEMI... for $895 extra it was the best money you can spend. Don't waste your time with the other V-8 and why Dodge offers a V6 in a 5400 lb. vehicle I will never understand ?!?!? Stick with the HEMI ! Great torque and nice sound. The radio sounds great. My wife just bought a new Toyota Sienna and while that is a beautiful minivan the upgraded Synthesis radio we got in it doesn't sound near as nice as the radio in the Durango (380 watt) The sub-woofers have good bass and the Infinity system in the Durango sounds overall superior. I have never been that impressed with "stock" radio systems to begin with but Dodge did a nice job in this one. Legroom is good up front but somewhat tight in the back second and third rows. I am 6" 4" and the front seats have good leg room. Headroom is ok. I would also recommend the 3.93 axle ratio over the 3.53 ~ The higher ratio is a must with the Hemi. When I was looking most of the Durango's came with the 3.53 and finding one took alittle searching. I didn't get the DVD video system since I can easily go and get a bigger screen and better system for less money. The 7" screen that they offer is ok but nothing great. For $2300 at a car/stereo outlet you can get a full system from with game plugs for X-box and Playstation, a 20" LCD screen and 4 wireless headphones. You can even get screens put into the headrests if you desire. With the HEMI be prepared to get so-so gas mileage. You can see the needle drop with this motor when running around town doing errands. But I wouldn't trade this motor for anything. I have a motorcycle in the spring/summer/fall and drive that if I want to conserve on fuel costs. I plan on tweaking the SUV alittle. New bolt-on stainless exhaust with a better muffler for better, deeper sound. The exhaust is very restrictive from the factory and you can use other systems that bolt-on and you won't lose the warranty. I would like to see the SUV have alittle more style on the dash. It is very nice and considering this SUV is for most guys I suppose it works. But I think alittle detail would be a nice touch. MUCH BETTER though then the older Durangos. I like the white face gauges. Turn on the lights and the gauges glow with a nice effect. Four wheel drive is great! I love the switch on the dash and the ease of switching between All Wheel Drive and 4 Wheel Drive also 4 Wheel Drive Low. All Wheel Drive is a great feature and works well. I did have to take it to the dealer the other day because my radio re-setting from time to time. The dealer told me that they found a lose fuse and that the problem should be corrected. We will see... lose fuse on a new truck? Sounds alittle fishy... Anyway, despite that I would HIGHLY recommend this truck. I got the Limited and would only recommend that since the SLT and basic Durango just don't have enough "goodies" for my taste. I was driving a Lexus LS400 before and had all the bells and whistles. I like the idea of getting a 4 wheel drive vehicle especially since I live in Chicagoland area and the winters are just crap around here. I like the sunroof as a nice touch. I also like the heated, dimming side mirrors. I like the display that tells the temp. the fuel remaining and your miles per gal. Cup holders are around and you have a deep storage holder between the front seats for your stuff. Glove compartment is small. Holds the manual and that's about it. BOTTOM LINE: If you want a good-looking rig that is built well, has 4 wheel drive, has some class and can HAUL BOOTY then this SUV is for you. Dodge did a great job coming up with this vehicle. I picked up a black Durango so we will see what it's like in the summer. I hope the A/C works well ! I would have never bought the old style Durango.. it just didn't appeal to me... I always like the RAM trucks but not the Durango. I think Dodge will sell alot more of this vehicle with the re-design. I have seen the new Durango R/T and that looks really nice. Nice colors inside the cabin and some nice features. Also the new Durangos are cheaper the the 03' that it replaces. Imagine that. Dodge did a great job on this one! Highly recommend. For all the changes Dodge has done to this new Durango the price tag isn't bad at all. Changes and re-designs cost money .. big money.... and Dodge did a great job keeping the cost down and still putting out a great product !!!! Check out the new Tahoes, Honda Pilot, Navigator, Expedition, Sequoia... they are all over 45,000 and without the refined look that the Durango now offers.
