Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Weakness:

E40D TRANNY, WHEN IT GOES OUT SO DOES YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUT, BUT BEING A HEAVY DUTY(HUGE) TRANNY IT IS WORTH FIXING, STEERING IS JUST LIKE ANY FORD TRUCK BAD

OUR BRONCO WAS THE SHARPEST AND BIGGEST TRUCK AT THE AUCTION. I GUESS WE WERE LUCKY NOBODY KNEW THE VALUE AND DEMAND FOR BRONCOS BECAUSE WE STOLE IT FOR 3400. IT NEEDED A TRANNY, ANOTHER 1761.00, SO FOR 5500 WE HAVE A MINT CONDITION BRONC WITH 32/12.50 DUNLOPS, WRAP BRUSHGUARD AND TAIL LIGHT PROTECTORS. ONE THINGS FOR SURE WE WON'T HAVE ANY TRANNY TROUBLES AND WE LOVE OUR NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MUD THIS HUNTING SEASON.

It's a Tank. I live in the inner city so it sticks out like a sore thumb. People double take at it. I bought it with a 4" trailmaster body lift, Triple Rancho steering stabilizer, and 35x12.5x15 BFG mud-terrain tires. I added duel vortex cherry bomb exhaust and new M/T Baja claw tires 35x12.5x15. I haven’t really been able to test it in deep snow. The only time it snowed a good amount the truck was in the shop getting the rear drive shaft replaced. There isn’t that much mud around here either. I really bought it for the look. It has a nice loud stereo: Kenwood CD player, 6.5 infinity fronts, 5x7 pioneer rears, 12" Boston acoustic woofers in a ported band pass box, and 2 MTX amps.

Weakness:

It has a lot of surface rust. I'm saving up to do some body work and painting. The BFG that were on it had side wall erosion and replaced with the Mickey T’s. I’m not sure what’s under the hood I know that it is a 5.0L v8. But that’s about all.

I'm real happy with the truck and would like to modify it as much as I can afford to.

Strength:

It has good power for a stock 302 V-8, and the fuel mileage is decent for a 4x4 vehicle.I also really like it's styling, and short wheelbase (104.7").It's very fun to drive!

Weakness:

Broncos are prone to getting rust on the tailgate, and around the rear wheelwell area.If you can find a rust-free example,or one with minor rust-BUY IT! These are really cool trucks!!! The only complaint I have is the rear window takes long to shut. No big deal, really.

As I stated earlier, between Dad and I, we've owned four Broncos-15 years of Bronco ownership should tell ya!!! This is a F-O-R-D family. We've had (or still have) three 4x4 pickups: '93 F-250 XL 5.8L, '94 F-250 XLT 7.5L,'93 F-150 Flareside 5.0L. The four Broncos, and one Expedition-a'98 model. Ford should bring a 2-door BRONCO back for 2002!!! THE EXPEDITIONS ARE OKAY,BUT THEY CAN'T COMPARE TO THE "OLD"BRONCO!!!

My other truck is a F-250 4X4 460. It has a lot more power than my 302 Bronco, but I plan on a 460/E4OD swap for it later this year.

broncos are the ultimate 4x4s the 351W is a great engine that easly lights up both rears when you put the pedel to the carpet. if you want to go anywhere, BUY A BRONCO!! the extremly low geared transfer case helps to creap through mud and the short wheel base combind with a lift = rock crawler! my big white bronco has hooker headers, a flowmaster exaust and a K&N air filter, 33x12.5x15 inch tires, a kenwood 160W cd changer, a sqaure tube grill, a warn bumper,a 4-in. Rancho lift kit, alloy wheels, and front and rear air lockers. this truck is the best!

Weakness:

none.

this truck is reliable and will run for many years to come.

very comfortable ride. Great low range climbing and mudding. Never gotten seriously stuck, even in places were other suv did. lots of room inside

Weakness:

no pulling power. over drive often clunks in. normal radio weak.

I love cruising around in it. I love the looks of the interior, and my friends are always impressed. when I put it into 4x4 it is unstoppable. (except when gas runs out). I really like the dark blue with the light tan strip down the middle, paint job.

I purchased a bronco with a 351W and it has power to spare. Very comfortable riding, exspecially in the mud, cannot get stuck. Love how it sits above all others.

Weakness:

It seems to wonder on the road. Will steering stabilizers help? Back glass window slow, slow. Gas milage well you know....10mpg. Non-overdrive,is there an easy overdrive tranmisson swap possible?

I rate this vechicle as one of the best. Have many plans on buying 33's, lift kit,and repainting it black. Love it!

POWERFUL 351 v8, dependable drivetrain, never had problems with 4x4 transfer case or tranny, 140,000 miles and still running strong, the removeable fiberglass top is a nice touch but i cant seem to find a soft top anywhere ... if anyonw knows where i can get one please tell me! smooth running all the time, never ever gets stuck, i plan to put some sort of aftermarket exhaust on it, probably flowmaster but i dont have a lot of money being in high school and all. i have been on the trails a few times but nothing too extreme for fear of breaking something and then not having enough money to pay for it. i have driven everything from a 97 f-150 to an 85 chevy k10 blazer and nothing can even come close to my bronco. it's the biggest truck in the parking lot at my school without a lift w/ just 31x10.5's, girls like it and it's safe

Weakness:

very weak rear driveshaft, water got into the ruber boot and rotted it then it snapped on me, rebuilt it for 75$, my egr valve and sensor just went but that's minor, quiet exhaust system, utilisation of 2 cats, my mother owns a 96 eddie bauer w/automatic hubs and we had 2 replace the hubs w/ warn manuals. not 2 great on gas (12 mpg) but its worth it, crappy stock speakers, exhaust systems rot out fast, develops rust quickly but i live on the east coast, al minor things, 12 years old and never had major engine or tranny problems.

I have driven this 89 bronco everyday for about 3 years and never had major problems, a few things such as oil sending unti and rear driveshaft but nothing major, i would recommend this truck to anyone who likes having fun while they drive and also likes to have the security of being safe and knowing that their vehicle will start every time. if anyone has any info on a soft top tonneau cover for the full size bronco XLT and/or information on what sort of flowmaster exhaust would give me the best SOUND please e-mail me at Roorak67Owls@aol.com
