Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Tuff, takes alot of abuse, can handle alot.

Weakness:

ball joints, pan gaskets and axle seals. Gas guzzler. Parts can get high priced and hard to get depending where you live.

Basically, I got it cause I needed a car and I could get cheap. It was used, VERY used and some said abused. However, I knew it was a tough truck. It had 76,000 miles on it when I got it. I put about $800 in to the first week. Total so far is about $5,000. It still needs somethings worked on but I'm working on it. I've also decided to turn it in to a project vechicle.

Strength:

Strong engine, great handling, roomy, good ride, and turns heads.

Weakness:

Only thing wrong is Ford's stupidity for stopping the production of this vehicle because nothing compares.

Wow. Thats all I have to say about this truck. My first truck was a 1997 Ford F-350 and that was great until it broke down because of previous owner's abuse. After that I drove a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee until I bought this Bronco. Nothing can compare to the Broncos. They have the power of a truck, the handling of a car, and the looks of a 4x4 beast. My Bronco is a 1993 Eddie Bauer. I bought it with 87,000 miles on it and it still ran like new. Also this truck originated from the east coast and you would expect rust from the weather over there but this Bronco had none! It looks great. Its maroon and tan with a tan interior. Inside is great. The cloth seats are comfortable and its very roomy. Im a little over 6'1" so its hard to get ample head and leg room in vehicles but this one is great. It has the 302 5.0L V-8 and it can get up and go. Compared to the Jeep I drove it gets pretty good MPG too. The Jeep got about 18 MPG on a V-6 and this Bronco runs about 16 MPG which is great considering the bigger engine and overall body size. Never had any problems with it and I will never want another vehicle unless its another Bronco.

Power,torque,reliability,F-O-R-D!

Weakness:

Paint is shotty (84 though), ignition is messed up hard to tune carb (but that needs to be replaced) Gas milage not too good because of ignition. All the Emission crap on there that doesnt work anymore.

My truck is actually a 84', i love it! i have the 351w h.o. motor in it, not no whimpy 3-0-2 and i love it have 180k miles on it and its still going strong, doesnt smoke, modifications are dual exhaust,carb,31x11.50 AT tires. soon to be,igniton,4 inch lift and some 33's and a rebuild on the motor, put a 4 core radiator in it and it never overheats, not even in dead summer in phx. Great truck couldnt ask for more. Had to redo brakes, hubs, and some other basic maintance. all in all love the truck cant wait to mod it exactly how i want it!!

Sounds like a beast! I can tow a new Chevy Tahoe out of mud w/ just a tow strap. A couple pulled over to use the restroom in the woods and got stuck in the mud almost to the top of their tires, I hauled them out without the man pressing on the gas.

Weakness:

Rust Clunking noise when I release the gas pedal. Brakes work, but definitely no ABS- I make sure to keep my distant. Sucks driving on ice in my baby! I already got stuck in the ditch.

I have always wanted a bronco and my boyfriend surprised me for xmas. It is the best present I have received!! Anyways, my baby is in good shape for an '89. I did have to get a transfer case at a junkyard for $200. Paint is peeling off on the hood and top. Interior is great except for a rip on the seat, but I can sew it up. I have not modified the Bronco yet. I am saving $$$$. I would like to put a suspension lift. I am a short gal (4'11") and I have to jump in so maybe weld a step. I am definitely keeping my baby forever!

apparently they are top heavy as i rolled my first one when i was 17 doing donuts in a field

Just got my first new body style bronco. I have had 4 other broncos, 82, 84, 85 and another 84. But never an Eddie Bauer or a fuel injected 351W either. I love the Bronco. It's 4x4, the top comes off, it turns on a dime though it does tend to rub the oversized 33's on a sharp u-turn. I will have this truck forever. I hear it pulls well but I have never actually pulled anything other than some 15" speakers in the back. Even the back power window which is a rarity in broncos.

Power! Comfortable ride for a truck. Sounds like a beast. Very reliable mechanically. Really aggressive look. Intimidating to other vehicles. FORD

Weakness:

Ford's idea of power steering never really was mastered... They all whine and squeek and leak. Oil leak from motor (bad. almost 1 1/2 qt. wk.) Drinks gas like I drink beer. (But I ain't complainin') Rust. Other than that, it's perfect.

I love the bronco. Out of anything I've driven, it is in the worst physical shape (rust), yet still is by far the best of them all. The 302 and automatic combo give the truck plenty of power. It is the most comfortable truck I've driven, and it is a pleasure to get in. All my friend's look at my truck and drool, and it's not even anything special, just a little rusty '86 Bronco. I love the beastly look of it. I've put 2000 miles on it since I bought it and havn't had one problem. I've spent about the same on oil as I have on gas, though. ;) I've only gotten it stuck once, and it was in a hole that NO stock height truck of any kind would ever make it through... she tried though, I had the frame resting on the ground. I'd never sell it.

Strength:

torque, power, extremely reliable, will go anywhere you want it to go, roomy.

Weakness:

gas guzzler... but then again if you are worried about fuel economy go buy a Geo Metro

I bought my Bronco off of my uncle's lot. It's an XLT with a 5.8L 351 Cleveland; best engine Ford ever used. The carfax report showed that the Bronco was used as a fleet vehicle and did a lot of heavy towing in it's day, so I was weary of buying it because I didn't want the transmission to drop out as soon as I pulled off the lot, but once I sat in it, started it up, and took it for a spin, it was mine. I am 6'3" and the Bronco is very roomy; I have plenty of headspace. The next thing I noticed was that thing would GO (thank you Cleveland). I checked the innards of the beast next, and it was in almost mint condition. I have been driivng it for almost a year now, no shop-time other than routine maintenance, and I absolutely love it, I couldn't ask for anything else. Even though this is my first real car, I am already dreading the day I have to get a new car because I love my Bronco so much.

Most powerful S.U.V. ever made. Very comfortable, and smooth for a large truck. It was a very quiet truck until i installed dual exaust. My bronco has 250,000 original miles on it and has never lost an ounce of power since i've owned it. very affordable. I have compared my truck to jeeps, K-5 blazers, and ramchargers on road and off, and the old Bronco came out on top everytime.

Weakness:

air conditioning(but that might just be mine) nothing really other than that, just normal wear on small mechanical parts(such as alternator, starter, etc.)

I own a 1989 Ford Bronco w/ 302. When I bought it, it was a pile, but, i put a $3000 paint job and i was set after that. I have a Skyler soft-top, brand new 33x12.50 Firestone M/T's on 15x10 Eagle Alloys. I have done a few things under the hood, I had it dynoed at 300 HP last June. I will never sell my truck. I have owned it since I was 15, and i'm now 21.
