Ford Escape (2010 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Escape is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, and lead the small SUV class back when it was first introduced in 2001. Although changes have continued to be made to the Escape over the last ten years, its exterior and interior designs are looking dated compared to the competition.

The XLS FWD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 171-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The Limited Hybrid 4WD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 153-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 29-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The Ford Escape gets good fuel economy with its standard 4-cylinder engine and it offers a long list of high tech features and options such as the Ford SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.

Strength:

The wheels did stay on through 50,000 miles...that's about it.

Weakness:

Everything...the car makes me want to puke everytime I look at it. I feel sooo violated..

This car stinks bad!!!! As soon as 36k warranty up, it started falling apart. Engine light is constantly on, passenger side window won't roll down. What a junker. I feel ripped off and as far as I am concerned I will never buy an American made auto again. Don't get me wrong, I am very patriotic, that is why I bought it, but, for 25 to 30k I expect something that will last over 50,000 miles. Ford better do something and fast...

Strength:

It has a lot of giddy-up and go, it's the perfect size, and it is lightweight.

Weakness:

It's at the shop most of the time.

This is the absolute worst vehicle I have ever had. It has had 4, I repeat, 4 recalls. Not included in that is the windshield replacement due to manufacturer error, front endlink replacement, radio antenna was not attached, replacement of the fuse box (due to windshield leak), and I still need the back hatch window replaced because the defroster doesn't work, and the roof interior is coming down. In the last year this vehicle has been in the shop for more than 3 weeks total. I will never ever buy another Ford. In my opinion Ford should just recall the vehicle. I've been ripped off!

Loud at 35 mph Accelorator sticks Lousy gas mileage

I HATE my Escape. I would like to "escape" from it! I had it two days and it started stalling on me. Had it into the shops numerous times. Finally got that fixed. Now at 32,000, it's sooo LOUD to drive. Can't hardly hear the radio. Gas mileage is lousy. I'll never buy another Ford product again.

Strength:

Fun to drive, not terribly bad on gas mileage (it's an SUV!), quick and manuverable.

Weakness:

All the problems listed above. Brake dust.

Not satisfied - 9500 miles in a year and 8 months - gear shift pin replaced, master cylinder replaced, numerous wheel alignments, actuator in back door replaced, plates in steering column replaced, rack and pinion replaced, electrical contact problem to airbag light, tranny mount needs to be replaced and now they need to fix the recall problem of stalling. Love the truck but am beginning to hate it with all these problems.

Roomy Great V6 Comfortable

Weakness:

Very noisy at freeway speeds

I've owned this vehicle for 9 months with 11k miles. I have not experienced any problems, not even with quality when first bought. The only problem experienced was with the Alarm System, but I don't blame the dealer because they outsourced the install. I bought it because I felt it was the right size SUV. Almost bought a Honda CRV, but the interior was just too weird.

Weakness:

Transmission

It is the worst vehicle I have ever owned!Mine was a 4 wheel drive model and the transmission would stall going up hills (not loaded down or towing anything). I took it to the dealership while it was still under warranty (several times) they charged me $90 and said nothing was wrong with it. I got rid of it today and will never buy another Ford product.

Strength:

Fun to drive

Weakness:

Tires will wear quickly due to short Wheelbase. Fabric quality on seats is poor and will show wear too soon. Very loud road noise at hwy speeds. 4X4 will be very jerky at low speeds and tight turns.

I got this vehicle new as a company car. I returned it to our fleet manager this year with 80k miles on it. I opted not to purchase it. All of our company vehicles are Escapes or Jeep Libertys. This car has been O.K. You'll need to replace the tires at 36k, they'll be completely worn out, due to the very short wheelbase. My airbag light would stay on continuosly. The road noise at hwy speeds is very very loud. If you bought fabric cloth on the seats you'll be disappointed in the quality. The fabric wears quickly. These are pretty common complaints from all the guys/gals in my company. Overall its a fair vehicle. MPG is not bad. And it is fun to drive. If your really into self torture by a jeep liberty.

Strength:

Small in size, but with lots of interior room. Rides and handles well.

My wife was nice enough to buy me an Escape for Christmas. It's dark gray. I really enjoy it. It rides well and I have great visibility. My two teenagers have lots of rear leg room.

Strength:

Great storage, pretty good handling for an SUV, love the leather and moon roof, good visibility and purrs along on the freeway

Weakness:

Wipers not working, gas pedal a little hesitant.

We have had our car for just over 1 year and are really enjoying it. There have been some minor glitches but the dealership has taken care of those. However, the wipers have started working very intermittently or not at all. So, am off to the dealership to have it taken care of. We did experience the stalling, and a new computer chip was put in and the problem was taken care of.
