Ford Escape (2010 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Escape is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, and lead the small SUV class back when it was first introduced in 2001. Although changes have continued to be made to the Escape over the last ten years, its exterior and interior designs are looking dated compared to the competition.

The XLS FWD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 171-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The Limited Hybrid 4WD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 153-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 29-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The Ford Escape gets good fuel economy with its standard 4-cylinder engine and it offers a long list of high tech features and options such as the Ford SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.

rides smooth

Weakness:

front wheel brake dust, hard to pull down back door, seats too firm

I can't really get comfortable driving this vehicle. The console doesn't come out far enough to put your arm on and keep hand on steering wheel. It does ride very well though. The seats are a little too firm, and the front wheel brake dust makes wheels black. Also the back hatch door is very hard to pull down to close.

Power, room, features, and looks. This SUV looks so much better than the competition.

Great SUV in handling, performance and room. Drove CRV, RAV 4, and trailblazer but Ford Escape beat them all. Great small SUV. Bought the XLT, 3.0, auto package, well worth the extra dollars over XLS.

I have had my 2005 Ford Escape Limited for about two years now and I love the thing. I got mine with the 6 Disc in Dash, Leather seats, bug guard and running boards, it looks great and handles like a dream. The 4x4 is awsome and performs great in Northeast Ohio weather (Snow), plenty of room even without the seats folden flat, use it for tailgating at Browns games and everday use. I have had no problmes with it at all, gas milage is OK, better than most SUVs. The in dash display that tells you miles until empty/MPG/oil change indicator/door or tailgate is open/closed/if any tail light or headlights or out(and I proabably forgot some other things it tells you) is awsome as well. Would reccomend it to anyone looking for an SUV and not a monster gas hog.

Strength:

Good Handling; Good Gas Mileage for an SUV.
Good traction in snow even with All-Season Tires

Weakness:

CD Player acts funny at times; Control on Cruise catch & break easily.

Been driving the SUV for almost 2 years now, I simply love this Vehicle.

Seats are roomy and comfortable for a compact SUV - the overall space of the cargo area with seats down excellent as well.

There is a lot of snowy conditions where I live, SUV has had good traction in sticky conditions especially in 4x4 mode.

Love the convenience of the 6 CD changer though it acts funny at times.

Overall a good vehicle with Good Gas Mileage for an Automatic V6 SUV

Comfort, mileage, looks!

Weakness:

Small gas tank

Rented the Escape for a road trip in Arizona. I had never driven one before, actually, never even considered one before. But the price and unlimited milage sold me. The truck had only 1000 miles on it when I got it and I put 2500 on it in 5 days. I was very pleasantly suprised with whole experience. The all wheel drive worked like a champ when I got into the snow near Flagstaff, AZ. If fact a car if front of me spun off the on ramp to I40 and the Escape never even shimmed! Decent power and milage was a plus. I am in the market for a new truck and I will be sure to look at the Escape again!:)

Powerful Duratec V-6 has plenty of power. powertrain trouble free for 117,000 miles.

Weakness:

rear wiper motor sucks. helluva lot of road and wind noise....its been fixed for '05 model.

I really like my Escape. There are a few issues with the vehicle. First off the rear wiper motor went out....360 dollars at dealer. Now the front end makes a really bad rumble sound. Like a bearing is going out. At first i thought it was the tires but its not. Other than that, its been a great vehicle

Strength:

shape, look, size, cleans easily, nice interior, lots of storage space in front for "stuff"....The ford dealership that maintains my car....not the same one I purchased it from!!

Weakness:

Not a good seal on windows and doesn't block out road noise. I think I can deal! Ford Credit gave me a really bad deal in my purchase, but I refinanced and knocked ~$100 per month and 1 year off of payments.

I have had my ford for almost 4 years. I've had 2 recalls, accelerator would stick when turned cold, but they tuned up for me and have no problem now. Airbag light came on and they fixed past warranty. I have 54k miles on it and have had no other problems (knock on wood). My father turned me onto ford and we have driven nothing in our family except...my husband's chevy malibu is another story!!!

Price and reliability.

Weakness:

Transmission failed at 23 miles and had to be replaced. Word is that transmission failure in this model is common.

The car has wonderful styling and a comfortable ride. The care is very easy to enter and exit, it has a great deal of visibility. Airbag coverage is also superb.
