Strength:

I liked everything about it, but we don't know why it pulled like that.

Weakness:

The fact that something was wrong and my husband ended up in a accident.

We got this as a rental from Hertz. When it was dropped off to my husband, the woman told him that it pulls to the right. About 3 weeks later my husband was driving down a road and it started to pull to the right, when he tried to steer it to the left and apply the brakes, it pulled to the right even more and he ended up in a ditch. They say there is too much damage to determine what caused this accident. I loved the Excursion up to that point. Something was diffently wrong with it, and we don't know if it happened because it's a rental or if it's a defect.

Strength:

Roomier than Suburban.

Weakness:

Won't properly tow.

"Squatting Excursion" Traded my 1999 GMC 2x4 Suburban 3/4 Ton for 2x4 Excursion. The Suburban pulled my small farm trailer, no problems. The Excursion sags 4 inches. The headlights don't even shine on the road. What a disappointment and safety issue for my family. Ford Dealer couldn't fix it. Ford won't stand behind it even though my trailer is within Ford's towing guidelines.

We purchased our vehicle with only 35000 miles. We also purchased an extended warranty. Less than one week after our purchase we had to return the vehicle for front and rear brake issues. The "so-called" inspection and safety inspection prior to our purchase show the front brakes were at 10% and rear were at 40%. But they sold it anyways. Ford replaced the front brakes but when we returned 2 months later with little rear brakes we were told tuff, our problem.. They wanted 400$ for rear brakes and rotors. Sorry Ford but that won't get you any positive PR.

Strength:

Size, comfort, storage behind third row seating. Powerful engine V-10 runs smooth and has been trouble free.

Weakness:

Armrests, mirrors, I keep hitting the heated seat switch by accident.

Let's start by saying that I am football player big. 6'5" and 265 pounds dripping wet. This SUV is comfortable to drive for me, as well as, my 5' 100 pound wife! She loves the adjustable pedals. I have put 20k on the Odometer and no problems. I am surprised at the smoothness of the engine and also happy with the ride. The interior is well arranged. The only exception is the front armrests. They are way too short. As for the seats they are comfortable and adjust to please all size drivers or passengers. Storage is great behind the third seat. I had a Suburban before this truck and the Ford is much better for size, comfort, storage behind the third seat, ride, quiet and pick up. I think the Suburban looked a little better but it is not the truck the Excursion is. I tow a 38' Cigarette boat that weighs over 12,000 pounds and this does a pretty good job. The weight causes a slight sag with the rear end. The Suburban did not. It is not enough to be a concern. I also like the barn doors in back and the vented rear windows. The stereo is pretty good and visibility pretty good. The mirrors could be better. All and all I love the truck. Better than the Suburban.

Customer Support, Customer loyalty, product dependability, just plain quality.

This vehicle has only 90,000 miles, today I found out that the transmission has to be replaced and it is not covered in any way by Ford. I assumed that Ford Motor was capable of making a product that could work for at least a hundred thousand miles, either I was wrong or I have to pay for picking the lemon off of the lot. I have recently had the glo plug wires replaced and the water pump and now the transmission. They keep saying I should have bought the extended warranty, but how come no one will admit that when you pay $41,000 for a vehicle it should at lease make it to a 100,000 miles. I told my sales rep. at Morries that even KIA has a 100,000 mile warranty, his response was that they are always in the shop, my response was that at least KIA fixes their mistakes unlike Ford. When I talked to the service tech at Waconia Ford he had the nerve to ask me if I had used the vehicle to tow, I said I couldn't believe he even asked that since it is a 3/4 ton Power Stroke. In our family we had 3 Power Strokes, this will change in the near future.

Power, Tons of room, Reliable, rear barn doors are very handy, when I wanna go it goes and everybody moves out of my way,I love the size bigger than the suburban and looks tougher too, great on trips.

Weakness:

shocks already had to replace, power door lock motor worm out, overdrive button replaced, brakes replaced, but as with any car/truck/suv you buy things do break at some point I dont mind taking care of my X it takes good care of me on the road. Could use a stronger stereo&speakers, gas mileage sucks 11 in town 15 freeway but I drive fast so could be better if I chose to stay out of the pedel but DIDNT BUY IT FOR THE GAS MILEAGE!!(doesnt get any better gas mileage than my 98 dodge durango)

I love my X it is the truck I have always wanted and now I have it. I drives like a dream and I love the size and look of this luxury suv. I take it on trips dont have to stop as many times for gas thats for sure, put my kids in the 3rd row seat and plug in their 13" tv and dont hear a peep. Seats are roomy and love the leather easy to clean. The rear air is sooo nice turn it on and it cools in a matter of minutes. Not as top heavy as the expedition, however I drove an X that had a 6" lift w/large tires and it was very top heavy,so use caution if you do purchase one and plan to lift it.I love the short nose on these rigs makes for easy turning and the mirrors on these babies are awesome. Also some if not all of the X's come with the back up sensors wonderful thing to have along with your mirrors and sitting up so high you can see every thing. I love the power, step on the gas and away we go and "the red sea parts" no one likes to be in the front of these big rigs can you say INTIMIDATION haha bottom line best rig Ive ever owned.(Ive owned over 25 cars, trucks in the last 8 years)and wouldnt trade this one for anything (well maybe for a diesel if I ever find one (diesel mileage is double that of the gas engine) and belive me they are hard to find because when people buy these rigs they hang on to them because they "ROCK"!!!

Strength:

Fit and finish are good. Towing capabilty. Seating for 8 plus packages/luggage. Air conditioner and all of the A/C vents. Power points and cup holders everywhere. Ride is good considering it is a 3/4 ton chasis. Considering the wieght and the size of the truck I have to say my mileage has not been bad (12 to 13 in town and 15.5 to 16.5 on the highway). Brakes work real well. Not politically correct at all. I love that!!!! Easy to see out of on the road. Expandable mirrors for towing.

Weakness:

Parking can be an issue. Find a spot you can pull forward out of everytime. Parking/reverse sensors are not the best system in the world. Speakers could be a bit more powerful.

I bought a used V-10 Limited Excursion to replace a Chevy Express Van. I needed more power to tow a 32 foot travel trailer. I bought the truck with 38,800 on the odo and so far so good (41,700 now). I have done nothing to the truck except for routine P.M.(oil change, transmission change, ect...). I am getting 12 to 13 around town and 15.5 to 16.5 on the highway running 70 to 75 mph!! Best part is I get around 10 towing. I got 6 in the van. I attribute my mileage to synthetic oil and a K and N filter. I put in Royal Purple and the K and N filter just after I purchased the truck. I think the mileage is reasonable considering the type of vehicle. Travelling in the Excursion is also quite comfortable. Whether towing or not the truck seems to do well. The A/C even keeps up in the Texas summer heat. It truly runs like it was new. I would buy another one if I could when this one calls it quits. I would not go out of my way to buy the parking/reverse sensors. They can be turned off, but when backing a trailer they turn on everytime you shift out of reverse. This can be annoying to say the least.

Strength:

V10 has great power/acceleration. Seating is comfortable, with 2nd/3rd row seats being adjustable for tilt (something the Suburban does not have - except for quad seating option). The roominess and comfort was far above any, other SUV we have driven.

Weakness:

Gas mileage (gee, what a surprise, right?).

I test drove a used 2000 Excursion with the V10. WOW!!! I was impressed with the power and maneuverability of such a huge vehicle. My wife even likes it! Big question: What can be done to the V10 to beef up the gas mileage? I read an article in Carreview about getting mileage up to 17 mpg with the addition of a tornado device (assume this is the thing advertised on TV) and a k/n filter (don't know what this is). Can someone please explain what a k/n filter is, what it does, where it can be purchased, and how much it costs? The test drive has really gotten me interested in the Excursion - we were highly impressed. However, I can't rationalize buying a family vehicle that gets such poor gas mileage. If someone can help me with the gas mileage improvement question, I'd be most greatful.

the whole truck...really.

Weakness:

funny...the only thing I would change is the armrests are too short. I wish they were extending out further.

I am very impressed with our Truck. I have 7 children and we like to travel. The truck performs very well. The V-10 engine runs well with ample power and the transmission shifts very smoothly. I am currently teaching my three teenage daughters to drive and they are liking the big truck. We have sufficient room for all and all the luggage is inside the truck safe and dry. there is even room left over for two coolers and a 13" TV. My wife originally thought she would not like to drive it as she drives a 3000GT, but after a month she reported that she was quite as ease driving it. I love the room, the controls, the ease of driving and parking as well as the rear air and radio controls for the passengers. Bravo Ford for having the courage to build the truck we have been waiting for in a time of political correctness and the war against the MONSTER SUV.!

6/0 has good power when it runs right, ride is not as poor as some reviews....all I expect from an SUV, nicely appointed, dealer giving it away,

Weakness:

possible problems with the 6.0

6.0 diesel, limited package. On the way home from the dealership I found that I had no power. I literally couldn't make any power to pass. I timed 21 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph on a flat interstate. Filled up the tank (was half full) and had all the power I needed. I am scared, very scared to read the other reviews of the 6.0 that I see here. Does this power problem sound familiar to anyone?
