Strength:

Almost everything! Audio Sys, 4x4, Turning, Towing capiblity, Power, Comfort, Quiet...

Weakness:

The Seats could be more plush but yet still keep the proper back support

Our Family has 4 people. We came from riding in a car and a truck to riding in an SUV. My dad is 6''5" I am 6''3" my mom is 5''9" and my brother is 5''5" we are a fairly tall group of people and head room is a must. The Expedition has plenty of head room (unless you are in the 3rd row seat.) 6'' tall is about max height for a person to sit back there but still isnt good enough reason for hate. 6'' is plenty for the average family. Our Expedition has the 5.4 Liter V8 and has plenty of power. People complain about it only haveing about 230hp, if you look at the Torque it has about 330ft/pds. If you want more horsepower then by a Viper or Corvette!! The Expedition has plenty of towing power and the motor won''t even seem like it is working hard at all. On the freeways you can be going 80 or 90 and the motor will sound near silent. Accelleration is not a problem for the big motor and is surprising for its weight. We have added a K&N Air Filter to add more air flow and improved gas milage (doesn''t improve a whole lot) and Edelbrock Performans Ias shocks which improved the aftershock of going over a speed bump, and improved the handling in turns (a very good upgrade!!) The 2000 expedition has the function in the steering which corrects quick response at high speeds when the steering wheel is turned too much too fast to avoid hitting something. The 4 wheel drive system is great it makes driving through snow much safer and basically ''crawls'' up steep hills that you would think twice of with a 2 wheel drive. All Time, All Wheel drive system is great which is what you are in if you arn''t in 4 wheel drive which has only the rear wheels driving until another wheel slips, power to another wheel/s is transfered to correct the keep the vehicle in control. -Over all this vehicle has everything you could ever ask for! Plenty of room, Plenty of power (5.4L), Plenty of ''gizmoes'' to keep you in comfort at all times and is one of the most safe vehiles out there!

Strength:

Size and physical ability to protect occupants in case of collision. Manuverability for such a large vehicle, e.g. turning radius. Has good visibility, large mirrors, and easier to park than I anticipated. Plenty of compartments and nooks and crannies to store my Glock pistol.

Weakness:

Gas mileage. AM radio is terrible at reception whereas FM radio seems to bring all the stations in.

I found this very clean 98 Expedition on the Internet. It is the Eddie Bauer package with 4WD and 5.4 litre engine. Mileage was 72,800 and CAR FAX came back clean so I bit the bullet and wrote the check. In the first thousand miles I''ve spent $1.00 for repair of a corroded light socket at the trailing end of a running board. I''m averaging 14.5 mpg for running errands in small towns and commuting to work on hilly two-lane highways where it''s not feasible to use cruise control. I like the size of the vehicle which is an important factor for someone like me who is 6''2" tall. The kids each have enough room that they don''t fight so I am looking forward to long trips for the first time in years. This is an awesome rig for a family of five who need room to spread out and want a go anywhere, anytime vehicle.

Strength:

Smooth ride. Quite running engine. AC doesn''t deter from overall power of engine, at least that is noticable by the driver. Power seats make long trips more comfortable. Great sound system.

Weakness:

Child lock on passenger side locks itself all the time. Door ajar light stays lite longer then normal, even with all doors including hatch checked for secure closure. Tires wear unevenly, even with following rotation schedule. Gas cap is crap, need a better seal for it, the twist once caps are just junk.

Great ride. Comfortable and roomy. Family enjoys vehicle. Taken on several road trips and no major trouble.

Strength:

Roomy. Great looks. Comfortable seats with good support in front. THE BEST DEALERSHIP! Sawgrass was the best.

Weakness:

Oil leaks, transmission need rebuilding, radiator hose fail causing electric problems, A/C failure by 80,000 miles. Poor fit & finish. Ford did not stand behind poor fit & finish repairs. Overall, Truck should have held up better for the price.

The size of the truck was perfect. A little under powered with the 5.4L. Handled a little heavy, but OK considering the size. Fit and finish were poor. Oil leaks, faulty radiator hose caused coil to fail, transmission pinged at 80,000;full replacement. Truck should have held up better for price. Ford does nothing to support the customer.

This was my first Ford. The dealership was the best, but Ford really dropped my confidence. They don''t care for the individual.

Strength:

Radio and CD player sound great. It has more room that you can imagine. The AC is freezing. It is just a great vehicle!

Weakness:

A few recalls. (tires, windshield) But, Ford has backed them all.

This is an awesome vehicle. It is huge! I have always driven foreign-cars because they are so reliable. However, we could not find anything to pull our camper so we went with the American made. I leased in just in case we did not like it. But, I think we are going to keep it. I could not imagine going back to a van after being in a big vehicle like this.

This SUV is a complete wash-out!!! Bought it Brand new and with less than 20,000 miles had to have head gasket replaced. And at 34,000 miles had to have same head gasket replaced. All work was done by ford certified service. When we asked for cylinder to be replaced (which is what the real problem is) they (service company and ford motor) said NO!!! They just wanted us to by an extended warranty package. So much for Ford standing by it''s product. Also, we found out through the service department that this has happened on some other Ford Expedition''s they are calling it a manufactuer''s defect. Beware!!!!

Strength:

accommodations...ceertainly had the interior room that i wanted..

Weakness:

mechanically seems to be far too fragile..transmission is gone at 70,000 miles and engines seems to be wanting to call it quits as well...too expensive a fix to be experiencing this early in the game...handling and stability at highway speeds can be bothersome...fit and finish are subpar for the price

We bought the expedition for highway use and got pretty much what we expected. It has carried us (3) well on our vacations since we seldom fly. It is cetainly not a city vehicle, however. Can become somewhat unstable at highway speeds and seems to lack the quality of finish that one would expect in a $30,000 vehicle. Transmission has started to slip, a problem that ford refuses to acknowledge as something other than an isolated incident. Consumes oil in an inexplicable manner. With what i know now probable would have done better with an GM or Nissan..

Quality built, reliable, well designed

Weakness:

The winshield had a defect (small delanination) was repaired- OK. Standard Goodyear tires could be improved to last longer.

We bought the truck manly to haul our boats and our travel traler. It also hauls plenty of people too! We traded in our ''95 Jeep Cherokee (couldn''t stand that piece of junk). It has soo much more room than the Dodge Durango and looks better than the Tahoe.

Strength:

roomy interior, 5 star crash rating, kid friendly and kid proof!

Weakness:

The third row seat is for kids only.

We just purchased our Expedition and have been very pleased so far. We saw the all-new 2003 Expedition, but couldn''t pass up the huge discounts and low interest available on the 2002. We got most of the available options, including the power moonroof. The 4.6 liter V-8 has good power and I didn''t need the big engine since we won''t be using this vehicle for towing. The ride is very smooth. I don''t expect any quality problems, as I have owned several new Fords and have had no problems with any of them. The Expedition has a better fit and finish than my 1999 F150 extended cab. The MACH sound system is great and my short-legged wife likes the power pedals and memory settings for the seat.
