Traded in an 1997 Explorer Sport. Best move I''ve ever made so far. Styling, Handling, Power, Smooth Ride, etc., etc.. Good price, and value compared to Danali, Surburban, and Mountaineer.

Strength:

I love the way it handles for a big truck and the leather interior is nice. The sound system is great.

Weakness:

I have had some constant squeals with the brakes. I have had the rotors turned and the pads replaced, but the squeal is still present. Also have problems with the door locks and the door adjar light on the instrument cluster seems to stick on whiles driving with all doors closed. I thought that I had a hole in my gas tank when I first bought it cause it was drinking soooooo much gas, but now that gas prices are down to $.99/gallon here in California, it''s doing a lot better.

I am a single guy with no kids. I love the big roomy luxury Expedition...chicks dig it! I bought my truck used with 75,000 miles on it. I have only had minor problems thus far, kinda expected when buying a used truck w/ that many miles, but I love it so far.

I love this expedition, although my wife always drives it. We have three kids and they love the room and comfort. We took it on some long trips and sometimes did not realize we were going 85 m.p.h. We have the 5.4 with leather interior. I would encourage anyone looking for an suv to get an expedition. Even consumer reports has it over GM and Chevy for reliability. I will never buy a Chevy as long as I live. silverado with 2 transmissions and one blown engine, and many other problems. Ford won my heart so far. One more thing. I see that people put as a weakness the gas milelage 13 m.p.g. This is not a surprise. That is what it says on the sticker. Everyone had to of known that when they bought the vehicle.

Strength:

Great comfort on long trips. Have driven to SF and recently to Tahoe, over 1k miles roundtrip, without any problems. Decent power for a V8, though I wish more than the 230 for the 5.4. Secure feeling in driving from the size of this monster.

Weakness:

230 hp for a 5.4L!!!! Problematic trannies associated w/Ford (although it runs like great again). Gas mileage (av. 12.4 mpg city/15.7 hwy) is poor.

We purchased this vehicle used, with 45K miles, for my wife. Great SUV, but at one point HATED IT!!! Within a couple of months of purchasing it, the radio amp blew out, had a problem with the oxygen sensor and the tranny gave out. Like the size, comfort and security it gives my wife and kids. Poor gas mileage, but what can you expect from a rig that wheighs in over 5,500 lbs.

Good headroom and shoulder room

Weakness:

Steering - too touchy Leather seat support Back seat heat # of recalls

I''ve had Fords for 30 years and this could be my last. My biggest complaint is the steering system. There are no grease fittings in the front end. After 70K miles the plastic, nylon and steel tie rods rot out and fall off. I''m glad this happened at low speed, not in a veering move on the highway. They saved pennies and probably have their next class action suit as the Expedition fleet ages.

Room, AC, engine, height (+,-), 4x4 in our area (mountains/snow).

Weakness:

None so far.

Overall very good vehicle. My wife primarily drives the truck and never complains. We have three kids and they all love the height of the truck and the feel of the spaciousness inside. We just got back from a 700 mile round-trip and it climbed the hills great fully loaded (5.4 engine) and that is 80deg weather and front/rear AC going. The temp gauge stayed on the same spot the whole trip. I drove all the time and never felt fatigued or uncomfortable. Great traveling SUV. The leather seats are just the right texture and stiffness. I''m 6''3" tall and I fit just fine. My wife is 5''2" and she also fits just fine. Very versitile and drives extremely well.

Awesome engine, great options , very reliable , wonderful ford service (contrary to popular belief), great air conditioner, tons of room , rides like a car , great on trips , seats are very comfortable , all around beautifull car !

Weakness:

Brakes and routers are faulty

We bought our Expy in the summer of ''00.The first thing we noticed was the triumphant automatic air worked great out here in the southwest heat. It''s an overall awesome vehicle. I recomend it to anyone looking for a large but comfortable SUV. It has plenty of power to hall anything and room for anyone .This is a great family car , we have put almost 38.000 miles on it already . It''s great to travel in , the leather seats are plush but have good lumbar support. We got it loaded with every option : 4x4 , sunroof, load leveling suspension , rear seat captains chairs, heated seats its just like a luxury car but bigger. We also have a 99 Mercedes S 500 and my kids like the Expy better . The only big problem is the brakes were changed at 34,000 and are giveing us problems again. The repair guy said its because ford makes the expeditions with to many pounds of force on the Expy brakes so it grinds the routers down.

5.4V-8/260hp, room, takes steep hills easily, gas mileage is decent, I average around 16.5 through the city & have gotten 20.3 on the highway. My mom has the 4X4 hers gets less mileage, but performance the same.

Weakness:

Only drivers seat power. Ford waited to long to introduce the DVD/TV system, its available with the 2002 model. The third seat should be a folding split/bench.

We love this vehicle. Drove down to Orlando this summer a 1015 mile trip one way & three tanks got us there, with 5 adults/3 children & luggage. I''m sitting around 43,000 miles now with no problems, Ford recommends changing oil every 5,000 we change every 3,000.

Gets decent gas mileage with the 4.6 V8. (15-17 mpg) Better than I would have expected for such a large vehicle.

Weakness:

High back seats are a little bit uncomfortable for really long trips. Kind of wrenches your neck.

Bought it new and have never had a problem with it. Best vehicle I have ever owned. Very comfortable driving and handling for an SUV. Lots of room for vacations.

Saftey great looks good low-end torch

Weakness:

since im only 18 people cant believe i own one of these bad boys

The handling of this truck is phenomenal, the low-end torch is awesome its as if it was made to drive in the streets, its also great on the highway. Its large size gives your a since of security. So far no problems, the six cd changer is great . The only complaint I have is the gas mileage its supposed to be 13 mpg but it seems more like 8 mpg. IM about to fix that with an ignition system and a performance cold air intake.
