Eddie Bauer V8
Strength:
Great acceleration, really good ride feel, nice tall view of the road
Weakness:
a little tippy, no bass on the nicest stereo available, which sucks great value, ford reliability, fairly good resale value, cool system computer, does well in snow Similar Products Used: I've smoked several blazers, pathfinders, and even some V8 Jeep Grand Cherrokees |

Strength:
P-E-R-F-E-C-T! The best car in the world.
Weakness:
I have a manual and the clutch is hard I would and have recommended this SUV to every person I know. My father owns one also (1996) and he loves his. This car is great for every day use or if you like to go cruising around off-road. This SUV has proven to be reliable, it has never broken down on me in the middle of no-where. I feel very safe when driving in it, trust me, I have experience. I love its looks and the way it drives. For a all around, safe, versitile, and resonably priced SUV-the Ford Explorer is for you! Similar Products Used: My only one, but can't wait to get a newer version. 1998 Eddie Bauer, Sea Green. Can't wait! |

Explorer Sport
Strength:
Sporty look, comfort, accessibility options, 4x4, 170,000miles and still going strong, push-button cruise, power windows and mirrors, auto. one-touch driver-side window. As a teenager this vehicle is one of the best I could've purchased for it's value and it will be a great experience for me. I've loved Fords and will continue to purchase them, I'll always run a truck that's built FORD TOUGH!
Weakness:
Rear wiper is goin out This Ford Explorer Sport is a great vehicle. Of course I'd like to have a newer one for the body style, but the square front-end will do for now. Similar Products Used: My first vehicle, and a great one at that. |

XLT Explorer
Strength:
Good acceleration, 210 HP, Lots of mods you can hookup, Can carry lots of cargo.
Weakness:
Poor suspension and brakes, low gas mileage, slids all over the place when it rains or snows. 1 out of 4 SUVs are explorers. Every one has one. I love my Explorer, I can beat most people off the line with its 210 HP and 250 ft/lb torque. Its nice because it has 4 wheel drive. This is good because I live in Utah and i go snowboarding alot. V6 2WD Explorer XLT
Strength:
Styling, Comfort, Great stereo system, Classy looks, Excellent turning radius.
Weakness:
The worse gas mileage of any vehicle I've ever owned. Slow as a turtle! 17000. I would not recommend it as a daily driver because the gas mileage would bankrupt you. For weekend trips or under 100 miles a week would be ok. Similar Products Used: None |

Ford 4X4 Sport
Strength:
Good Looking truck. Inside has all the bells and whistles. Cargo Space in rear.
Weakness:
Only had car a few days, but can tell the stereo is not too quality. Not enough base. Bumpy ride over bumps. Not too much pick up and go as I would have liked. Previously had a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante that drove like a dream and supreme stereo system. Considered getting another Diamante but decided on this SUV. Already, I'm wondering if did the right thing. After reading some of the other comments about the Explorer, I'm wondering if I just bought myself some trouble. If anyone else has the 1998 Ford Explorer Sport 4X4 and you love it, e-mail me at Diddlydudette@yahoo.com so maybe I can feel as if I did right thing. Would like to hear something positive. I do think it's a good loooking vehicle though and just hope I hadn't made a mistake. Similar Products Used: My first SUV. |

Explorer Sport 4x4
Strength:
LOOKS GREAT! Estate green is an awesome color. Standard V6 has 210 HP and 240 lb/ft of torque, which is plenty for hauling and towing. Rides great. It's my wife's vehicle, but I enjoy taking it from her on the weekends. The four wheel drive is simple and works well. PRICE IS RIGHT!
Weakness:
Passenger seat is not easy to pull forward to let someone into the back seat. O/D button on end of gear shift lever is too easily pushed. Darn thing beeps at me every minute unless I put on my seatbelt. GAS MILEAGE IS VERY LOW! I am eligible for the X-Plan price through my enployer, so I knew that I was going to purchase a Ford this time. I ended up getting a vehicle that had an MSRP of $28900 for $25800, which is actually less than the invoice price. When you consider the 5 year, 6.9% financing and the $500 rebate that Ford has right now, I got a real steal. I originally went looking at the Escape, and I immediately decided that the Explorer was the one for me. The escape is built on a car chassis and is front wheel drive in the 4x2 model. Unlike the Escape, the Explorer is built on a full truck frame. This is not like a lot of the new cars that just look like an SUV. This is a true SUV. It is heavy, which adds stability, but also accounts for the poor gas mileage. This is not an SUV for a person who wants a truck that drives like a car. It still drives like a truck. Strength:
Good acceleration.
Weakness:
Poorly designed, lots of electrical problems, really bad gas mileage, AWFUL on wet surfaces. A poorly designed gas guzzler with lots of mechanical problems. The Exploder has been recalled many times, and had to be TOWED TWICE in the first 8 months! Lots of REALLY STUPID design issues. Certainly not recommended. Strength:
The Explorer is the most attractive SUV on the road. I has a ton of cargo room.
Weakness:
Had the SUV 2 weeks and it stalled when my family was on a road trip. Tires! It squeaks a lot. Although I love the looks of my Explorer, I do not trust it. Ford service department never found a cause for the hesitation and stalling. I will not recommend a Ford to any of my friends!
