Good ride, turns on a dime, nice leg room in front. Heated seats are nice in winter, leather is nice, simple design without too much plastic.

Weakness:

Noise when stopping and going from driveshaft (requires frequent greasing to keep quiet), hard to find intelligent service people even from dealer. DON"T LET THEM FLUSH THE TRANS!

Was a great ride until the dealer talked me into buying a Transmission flush. They said it would make the transmission last longer....yeah, three hours later it died. Had to have it towed. Also the noise the trans yoke and shaft makes is annoying. Dealer tried to sell me over $650 worth of suspension parts to correct the problem and that wasn't even related to the problem. Bad vibes from this dealer. The service manager rasied his voice with me today and hung up because I told him antoher dealer said he as wrong. How immature.

Weakness:

Gutless, the paint started cracking as well, uneven tire wear, see above. Also the gas mileage is terrible, I know you don't buy these types of trucks for gas mileage however it was far worse than my buddies Ford and full sized Toyota pickup.

Tied for the Worst vehicle I've ever owned. I used to be a GM/Chev guy, I also owned a Z71 (tied with Yukon) while I had the Yukon. There was a reason the previous owner got rid of it after one year I believe. Tranny, Transfer case, diff, starter, windshield wipers, front end, broken springs, eletrical all died at various times. Never at the same time either. I believe I spent over 700 dollars just in towing exepenses over a 4 year period. This truck is complete garbage as is the the Z71. I will never own another GM or Chev as long as I live!! I bought a new F350 and it is built and drives infinitely better than these other trucks I've owned. If own one of these trucks drive it until you have 65000 miles on it and get rid of it!! It will cause you nothing but headaches. If I could give these trucks a 0 star rating I would. You may ask why did he keep this truck so long then. Every time you throw 4000 dollars in for a new Tranny or front end you want to believe that was the last repair you'll have to do. It's just not the case with these trucks. Run

Strength:

Lots of room, lots of power, looks great, handles great. I love this truck.

Weakness:

Some cheap interior design issues, poor gas mileage (as all large SUV's are guilty of).

This is a great truck. This is my second one and I'm totally happy with it. I've taken it on countless long trips and it's very comfortable. It's been all over the mountains in Colorado, many trails in Utah, Canadian winters, and never once dissapointed me. It provides a great sense of security on the road. Truck has lots of power, is able to handle the rough stuff without having to abuse it. The only complaint I have is in the interior designs. There are a few squeaks and rattles (It's not made in Germany...). There is a small tear on the side of one of the seats where the release lever is. The mechanism that controls the seat adjustment has a bit of play in it, so the seat 'feels' a little bit loose, though everything is tight. There is also a slight 'bump' after you stop abruptly and then release the brakes to continue. The dealership told me this is a design issue which cannot be resolved. Greasing the trans/driveshaft yoke regularly gets rid of this issue.

Strength:

Space, & more space. Love the leather & 4WD has been helpful 1-2X year. This is not a toy, it is a heavy duty vehicle that demands attention & will provide long term performance. This is not a little car, it is a truck with attendant problems & rewards. I intend to keep for at least 10 years so I am willing to invest in it.

Weakness:

Original tires were awful. Cheap plastic interior in places. Fuel injectors need cleaning every 3-6 months for optimal performance. I am going to get heavy duty brake package for mountain driving. Buy a new battery every 2-3 years.

Purchased new 02/1996, I have 252,000 total miles. After 177,000 the head gasket went out on the first engine. The first 2-3 months had electrical problems that were under warranty & taken care of after third trip to dealer. I used to get 16.5 to 17 mpg depending on road conditions, air conditioning etc. The Vortec 5.7 has been as advertised, and no transmission problems, but then I do not tow anything. Great road trip truck, great for four guys with gear. The oil gets changed every 5k & I have semi-annual prevent maintenance due to high mileage. Best add-on was Banks Powerpack system, boosted mpg by 10% (18.5), and increased power at altitude. Made it fantastic mountain vehicle.

Strength:

Interior appears nice.

Weakness:

Painful, constant cab reverberation problem. At this time, uncorrectable. Inflicts severe, ear pain on driver and passengers. Very unpleasant to drive.

2003 Yukon XL has severe, painful reverberation problem in the cab. GM is unable to correct problem. GM refers to this severe reverberation as " a design characteristic ". Neither GM or the dealer will take this vehicle back. Neither can correct the problem. I am currently under a doctor's care for a painful ear condition caused by this vehicle. $48,000 doesn't buy much customer service these days ! If you are in the market for one of these vehicles, beware ! Both the dealer and General Motors admit that this condition exists on every 2003 Yukon XL vehicle made !

Dangerous vehicle. Be very careful if you own one. The voltmeter will spike, the lights will dim and the engine will near stall. I've been told by GM's Area Service Manager, Daniel Perkins, that this is "normal". If you ever have the "pleasure" to deal with Mr. Perkins, be advised that he will go to all lengths to discredit your story and tell you the problem is in your head. I will advise on future litigation.

Handles road well and a comfortable ride. Smooth ride.

Weakness:

It drinks gas like a thirsty animal. That noticed only because of the high gas prices.

This is one of the best on the market. After falling in love with the new body style from 2000, I did plenty of research and review. I have only had it for 1 month, but I have nothing but praise for the vehicle. IT is comfortable and is a smooth ride. The warranty is perfect and I have had no problem with the service department in asking questions. The room is unbelievable and the sound system is premium. And I am a sound freak. The Yukon handles like a sedan to me and does not feel heavy, like the Expedition. The turning radius and road handling is phenominal. It is a good investment and I don't plan on trading in until GMC creates a new model in the future. My wife is only 5'2" and she can handle it like her own car. That's a plus for us.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my Yukon GT-4x4. Not only extremely comfortable(leather interior/captains chairs etc. It hums along the highway at speed with virtualy no noise. Handles extroardinarily well considering it's nearly 2-tons of truck. I've been through two Indiana winters with it, including the last one with more snow than the blizzard of 1978, and the Yukon GT operated flawlessly in and out of four wheel drive. I managed to rescue several cars and trucks from slide offs, including two Ford Expeditions an Explorer and a State Trooper Jeep. The only thing I will change, is at 6'9" and 300 pounds, I would like the ceiling to be about an inch higher and the pedals about 5 inches farther forward; but, I can fix that.
