Strength:
The rear suspension has some advantages through rough terrain. It is great on gas. Good room for large people. Very easy to drive on the road.
Weakness:
I dont like the tires, and the suspension is a little mushy feeling offroad, maybe its just mine though. They could have put a little more umph in the power plant. Hond could do a little better on the next ones. Not too much money, I recomend it. Similar Products Used: only owned cars first suv for me. |

Strength:
Great on gas, great in snow storms, and half decent off road, considering it is really (all wheel drive), even though they call it 4x4
Weakness:
in '97 it had only 126 h.p. (which they bumped up to 146 h.p.) and no pasenger armrest which makes Honda look cheap. I paid $28k (Can.) and am looking forward to getting a newer version with the extra horsepower. Other than that It's perfect for driving in snow storms, rain or shine, and lots, and lots of room inside which is comparable to a Grand Cheroke Jeep, without the price tag and poor gas mileage. Bigger tires would make it look meaner, but would certainly hirt it's gas mileage a bit. Similar Products Used: Rav4 which is as tiny as a Suzuki, or a Kia. Outback-Forrester are probably as comparable, but not as nice looking. As big interior as a |

Strength:
Honda reliable, a true urban SUV. Its fullltime four wheel drive is great on slick roads.
Weakness:
No power. It needs either the VTEC four or a six. You can adjust if you live in nonmountainous areas. I wouldn't own one in Colorado, however. Paid ~ $22,000. If you live in the city and are tired of having headlights from other SUVs glaring in your rear-view mirror, if you have to park in tight places, if you want total reliability (we've owned Hondas since 1982), if you want fulltime four-wheel drive and 20 mph city, 27 highway, then this is the car for you. Strength:
Great price.
Weakness:
Wish for a six cylinder engine. Needs more lown end torque. This car is good. It stacks up and offers one of the best values on the market. It can do just aboun anything a normal person could expect. It is funt to take to the dunes, it is great to take around town. You can load it up with all your stuff, your kids, your dog, yor wife and still have fun. I envy its utilitarin poropses because I am the owner of a Honda Prelude and a Linclon LS. It can be as fun as my "lude" and it is as god as family packer as my LS. This car is respectable to any car entusiast. My friend was fortunate enough to purchase the 146 hp. model which to me has enough power. I would still prefer a six. For the money this car is exceptional. I can find few better all around cars for 20 grand. Similar Products Used: I think it is more respectable than the RAV 4, more refined than the Cherokee, and simply better, than the Suzuki and Tracker. Is equal in my mind to the Subaru Forester. |

Strength:
The best quality of this vehicle is the combination of a comfortable ride, nice handling and good looks. Plus it has plenty of little nice touches like hidden compartments, decent stereo system and cool foldable rear seats.
Weakness:
Many complain of lack of power, but I think I has enough horses for everyday freeway and city driving. The only complaint I can think of is the faint squeek on the right rear passenger door when closing it, but then again maybe that's normal. I've been driving an old '91 Civic and while it still runs great, I was looking for a more comfortable ride and I've found that in the CR-V. Now I feel less of the bumpy freeway I take everyday to get to work. And I like the way it zips through traffic like a small car, it's an excellent little car, I mean SUV. I've paid the invoice price so it wasn't a bad deal... It's has one of the best price to value ratio in any vehicle on the market. Similar Products Used: Driven an Isuzu Rodeo, THAT definitely drives like a truck compared to my CR-V. |

Honda CR-V LX
Strength:
Good visibility. Fairly comfortable seats (but had to pay extra to get a driver's side armrest, which made Honda seem cheapish). Cargo space is easy to use (but lacks a cargo cover, which is inconvenient). Easy to park. Drives like a car. Plenty of leg room.
Weakness:
Major lack of power. Poor transmission (struggles to shift, esp. on hills). Sound system is lousy. Radio did not come with even a cassette player, and Honda tried to lock you in to their own products by building keyless entry into the radio (you can patch around this, but...gimme a break). Clock is built into the dash, and is very hard to read except when very dark (auto dimmer if lights on during the day - so impossible to read then). Console between front seats would be nice (and provide some handy storage). The storage under the front passenger seat is pretty flimsy. Tons and tons of wind noise - and have to pump up speakers to hear over the noise. Cruise control on/off is on dash (inconvenient) and the set/resume buttons are WAY too close for comfort on the steering wheel - easy to hit by mistake). About $20K. Overall, the wind noise and transmission issues (as well as the cheapskate approach to accessories) tend to cancel out the pluses of what could be a decent vehicle with a bit more effort. Frankly, I plan to trade this in ASAP. Similar Products Used: Nissan Xterra. Jeep Cherokee. Subaru Forester. Toyota RAV-4. I liked all but the Toyota better than the CR-V. |

Strength:
This car is great on gas, for an SUV!! I like how the back seat is able to fold down, and I was amazed at how much can fit back there. I have even taken this car camping and slept in the back. This car is also easy on the wallet and offers a lot. I enjoy driving this car in the snow and some minor off roading, the 4wd works great.
Weakness:
Power, power and power. This car is slow and can't handle the vigors of off road. I guss it isn't really an suv, but a runabout vehicle. I like eveything, but the power is lacking. Also, the handling is like a minivan. This is a good run about vehicle for town, but definately not a serious suv. It is great for on road-snow driving and other weather conditions. I would suggest this to those who want to spend as little as possible, and want to most quality and features. I would definately reocmend this over a Toyota Rav 4 Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Outstanding gas mileage! And with gas over $2.00/g here that is a big deal. Good ride and comfort. Handles the daily grind (60 miles round trip) with ease and grace. I currently get 27 mpg on regular unleaded. Snappy handling in snow and mud. I can't even tell when the rear axle kicks in....but it works, because I have never been stuck or slowed down.
Weakness:
Needs a gas cap holder. More mid-range torque would be appreciated when entering the freeway. But its a small price to pay for the great economy that this vehicle provides. Price 21K with options and tax. Not many options, this little critter comes with most of the bells and whistles. Get the mud flaps! Your paint job will thank you. All around great vehicle. Now if Honda would only make a small pickup built on this platform! I would be in heaven. Similar Products Used: Chevy S-10 pickup. I miss my pickup, but not enough to trade in the "Grey Ghost"! |

Almost everything. Smooth and Comfortable. Driver's seat is extremely cozy. Friends tell me the back seat is excellent too. Gas mileage is superb for an SUV. Ample Cargo Space.
Weakness:
Lacks Power. A little pokey off the line but this is appeciated at the pump. Only other problem is it's too spacey and comfortable so I'm always expected to drive everyone around. 21,000 with 6-Disc CD Changer and Cassete. I think it was an excellent choice. Really have had no problems with it in 3 years and I've put it through a little torture tests of my own (apparently it can handle some off-road jobs). Its an excellent family car for all the soccer moms out there but I'm 19 and my friends and I love it also. Similar Products Used: Bigger SUVs: Expedition and Blazer. The CR-V is leaps and bounds abouve these in comfort, handling, ride smoothness and gas mileage. The CR-V actually handled better in snow, also, than both of the bigger SUVs (they slipped and slided) |

Strength:
I just love my car. Got it 3 years ago and have had no problems. I put 55,000 miles on it and can't wait to get in everyday.
Weakness:
I got the first year and have only 126 hp. I find it alittle underpowered, but I have out grown the more power the better phase and am happy to just cruise. I paid about $24000.00 but pretty much put every option on. From the roof rack to CD to sport bars. It has a very large cargo area when the back seat is put down and fits my mountain bikes very easily. That car is my baby!!! Similar Products Used: Jeep,4-runner |
