Features Gas Mileage Warranty Looks

Weakness:

None (I'll repost in 6 months)

I purchased a new Hyundai Santa Fe after researching Ford Escape, Honda CRV, RAV4, and Mazda Tribute. The Santa Fe had by far the best features, warranty, and in my opinion looks. I was concerned like many others that Hyundai's past reputation might spell trouble for this purchase. My experience, so far, is that this is a high quality vehicle. I am very pleased with it. I was also concerned about some of the reviews that said the 2.7 liter engine is under powered. I took an extended test drive and found that it has plenty of oomph. If you like to really hit it, I suggest the new 3.5 liter option. I also want mention that I had an excellent experience with my dealer, Santa Ana Hyundai/Isuzu. They were very professional, accommodated my special requests, and offered me the best deal I could find. Thanks Nick and Jaeson.

Strength:

roomy, unique design, quiet, well laid out gauges, big headlights, good conversation piece at gas stations!

Weakness:

hollow sounding plastics of interior door, lacks breaking power, and maybe put the clock on the dash instead of the ceiling by the way, I have a hard time folding the rear seats because the lever is squeezed between the wall and the side of the seats

I have had this viehicle for 1.5 years now at 44,000 km. Since its purchase, I have not had any major problems with it aside from a squeeky fan belt. One of the many things that annoy me about vehicles is when the engine gets noisy as it ages. although probably too early to tell, mine is still very quiet and smooth sounding. I love the ride quality. Suggestion to Hyundai is to try harder to make its gas consumption even better. Braking can be improved. Birthday wish: Santa Fe with power adjustable pedals!

Weakness:

Service deptartments too new for technicans to know how to fix them

I think it's a lemon - no one at the dealership seems to know how to work on this car. 4-5 trips now to fix the fuel gauge.after service dept. left off parts, I found myself in a puddle of gas. Service dept is not friendly, they hate me and I hate them. want to trade - but will loose 4-5 thousand dollars.

Strength:

good power, nice interior, lots of extras for little money, we are getting 22mi/gallon

Weakness:

No indication (dinging) when you leave the lights on, no automatic locking of doors when you put it in drive (always driving around with doors unlocked).

I did all the research, and bought the Santa Fe (even after all the wisecracks from my husband). This is a really good SUV, it rides so smooth, it has a lot of power and it looks good (almost just like the lexus). My husband, to his dismay, can't say enough good things about it. We took it on a trip the first week (about 1300mi) and never even had a hiccup. So far, I have to say I would buy another one in 2006 when they change the body style. Hyundai did a good job on this one!

Handles well in the snow. Good suspension. Hugs the road in the rain. Plenty of room. Loaded with extras.

Weakness:

Only criticism that I have is the awkwardness in pulling down the back seats when hauling large items.

Our Santa Fe has been great. Have owned the vehicle for 18 months and 26,000 miles and not one thing wrong with it. We have found it to be very comfortable and love all of the extras that came with it. The wife especially likes the heated seats. It is a great value for the money.

wipers very noisy don't like a/c connected to demister fogs up badly always in workshop

Have had mine for three months now and have already had fitted.... camshaft sensor temp sensor exhaust sensor idle-up solenoid new wiper blades drivers side lock-unlock unit new rear muffler 3 wheel alignments new battery 4500 ks new computer new clutch speedo is out 4/10ths kilometre over 5 ks rear diff sings at 115ks and SF in currently in workshop for a miss or surge in 2nd &3rd gear which has been there since day 1. I absloutely hate the dog and because we don't have strong "lemon laws" here in NZ I will have to sell before the warranty expires at 3 years or 100,000 ks and also you have to look hard here in NZ to find someone who knows anything about them...We have lost total confidence in the SF and find it unbelieveable that so much can go wrong with a vehicle in such a short time after all it is 2003......I rue the day I took delivery!!!!!!!

Only strength is the way it looks.

Weakness:

Everything else.

I very much regret buying the santa fe. I thought I had totally researched this SUV, but It seems mine must be the lemon of the bunch. I've had it for almost 2 years, and started out with minor problems. Now, It has escalated into slinging a rod and the entire motor is currently being replaced. They just called it "motor malfunction." ANd to make matters worse, the dealership acts really ugly and gives the impression that I am a bother. I would never have bought it knowing what I know now.

Strength:

Comfort and ride. Hardly any road noise. The options are great. Monsoon Stereo system sounds great. Cargo space is huge.

Weakness:

Can't seem to find any.

What can I say? I love this vehicle. I shopped around for months and no other SUV could provide all the options I have in my GLS for even close to the same price. The ride and comfort are great. At 6'4" I didn't think I could fit comfortably, but I was wrong. I guess I can't say enough about this vehicle. I'm looking forward to enjoying it for years to come.
