Weakness:

NO SUN ROOF!

I'M NOT GONNA SAY BUY THIS VEHICLE BUT THIS VEHICLE IS MUCH SUPERIOR THAN RAV4 AND CRV.

Strength:

Plenty of room with all the extras! The V6 2.7ltr has plenty of get up and go and the ride just blew me away for an in-expensive SUV! The company is very confident in the product and offers a great warranty.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is not up to par yet. Maby after the engine is broke in there will be improvement. A small price to pay to avoid the lack of power in the 2.4 ltr 4 banger. I would also like to see a bigger gas tank!

When I stopped long enough to look at a Hyundai, that was, in itself amazeing enough with their history as it is. Then actually "wanting" to test drive it was another miracle. After finally buying it and not regreting it, I am convinced that Hyundai has come a long way and is so confident in their product that they are offering the best warranty out there! I absolutely love it!!! "Can't believe I said that!"

Test drove the Honda CRV and for the money it just didn't compare with the Sante Fe! I loved the Lexus ES300 and feel that I bought the little brother

Strength:

Very roomy interior; distinctive exterior styling; strong V6 engine; low step in height; great "bang for the buck"; excellent handling; very good fit and finish

Weakness:

Gas mileage just OK (but should improve once engine fully broken in)
No sunroof!!!

So far so good. I had a Tiburon before this, and that car was also very good. The Sante Fe is everything you expect it to be, and more!!! I was very impressed with the interior room + cargo hold (also has a pop out picnic table). The engine is very responsive, and the ride is quite smooth for a SUV. But, what is most impressive is the price. For a fully loaded Sante Fe AWD (with heated leather seats, keyless entry, etc), I paid around $30,000 Cdn. A similarly equipped Tribute runs around $35,000. Plus, the Sante Fe looks so much more cool!!! This is a great vehicle with anyone with a family, who enjoys the outdoors, or driving in three feet of snow!!

Test drove Mazda Tribute (bland styling; fit and finish just OK)
Test drove Honda CR-V (OK engine; too pricey with similar options; not as roomy inside)
Test drove 2001 Toyota RAV-4 (way too expensive; only 4-banger)

Strength:

Classy looks, Heated leather seats, front wheel drive, plenty of cargo space, 16" Alloy wheels are standard, ABS and traction control are great, lot's of leg room for a 6'3" person. very smoothe ride compared to all other SUV's I drove (Xterra, Explorer, CR-V, Passport, Jeep Loredo, Jeep Cherekee, Darango, Escape, Heated mirrors, PRICE, warranty, and very few people have one.

Weakness:

I am a very picky person, yet i can't find one thing to complain about. I love my SUV.

I can't say enough about my Sante Fe. It wasn't even on my long list of potential SUV's in the beginning (I didn't know it existed). I had literally driven every SUV (small and mid-sized) and walked away from each test drive thinking "What a waste of money." Most of them felt terrible because you could feel every little bump on the road and others were so loud on the highway I kept checking to see if my door was shut all the way. To get a descent model with a few simple options like adjustable seats, 16" wheels, and a cd player the price was already jacked up to $26,000 or even higher. My wife and I had finally given up looking for an SUV; they were over-priced and definitely over-rated.
While out shopping for CARS now, we happened to see a Sante Fe on a Buick/Hyundai lot. We were taken back by its sleek styling and went on in to take a closer look. The first thing we noticed was the affordable sticker price. This lured us into grabbing the keys to inspect the interior. We were impressed with all the "bells and whistles". Cruise, Air, Tilt, Leather heated seats, CD player, tons of cargo room, spacious interior, ShiftTronic/Automatic transmission (very cool feature). By this time I just had to take it for a spin. The salesman purposely took us through a rough back-alley that had hundreds of bump and holes in it. I quickly understood why he did this. It was smooth as butter. It's 4-wheel independent suspension glided over every bump and hole without any bOuNcInG. We then headed out for the highway and we were equally impressed with the quiet smooth ride at 70 plus miles an hour. We pulled back into the dealership, I looked at my wife and we both had a smile on our face. That said it all. We were swept away by the Sante Fe! We went inside and immediately signed the paper work and took it home that night. We've had it a little over a month now and we have absolutely no regrets about our purchase. It's the perfect SUV we LOVE it!

Strength:

Great ride, nice heavey feeling in strong windy areas, 4wd is really cool and works very well but, I do reconmend the limited slip opt. for more serious off roading, it has lots of bells and and whistles that i wanted at a fair price, the heated seates are great too, engine responds well, I bought it in Nov. 15 2000 and already have 12500 miles on it, with no probs except gas mileage doesnt get any better than about 20-23 i guess for V6 thats not to bad after all.

Weakness:

I wish their was more leg room for the driver,it tends to be cramped after three hours or so I am 6ft. . Also transmission tends to hold in scond gear when climbing steep hills with the V-6 4wd.I was told by the dealer that it was the computer thinking that you just wanted more power ??? o I would also like to see a raising in ride hight from 8.1 inchs to about 9.1 would be nice for better gound clearance. IF you have a santa fe S.U.V magzine has done one up check it out for ideas ('-= at gr8ride.com

well Ihave driven 12500 miles and have driven on sand dunes rockey tilted moutain roads, snow grated and not, mud, creek beds and found it to do very well the cool thing is that the snow was about 14 inchs height covering mud and the 4-wd just transfered power front to the rear and kept me going. I would also like to say that the ride is also never harsh and always quite. I also owened the very first elantra 92 model and hyundia has come a long way since then. I would recomend the santa fe to any one looking for midsized SUV beats the mazda, ford , nissan, dodge, honda and toy,for overall uses and capability. would buy other one ('-=

I have a 99 tahoe and got tired of paying $75.00 to fill it. Thats why I bought the santa fe. Also it has all of the nice bells that the bigger tahoe has, but can be driven every day at 1/3 of the price and can do almost all the off raoding the tahoe does but I save a lot on the gas $$$ Looked at all of the fords,Gm ,maza and dodge prod.,but were to much for to little. honda haahaha toy rav-4 tooo small and way under powered and over priced too.

Standard feartures are equal to most auto's extra's, unique body design, 100K mile warranty, appears to be of superior craftmanship.

Weakness:

Rear window wash is lame, no sunroof (electric after market one costs around $800).

Every option including hitch, heated leather seats and auto-dim rear view mirror cost me $21,000. Plenty of room. Rides great. Styled after the Lexus RX300, but from the reviews Ion the web page, it is proving to be far better...at half the price. Go korea!!!

Strength:

Bang for the buck. The fit/finish is suprisingly good. strong 2.7l V6. Shiftronic, heated leather seats, 16" wheels, Hidden spare. Lots of leg room esp in back. Lots of cargo too. FANTASTIC IN THE SNOW!!! Best I have owned.

Weakness:

Could use a sunroof. Roofrack crossbars have a molding that I have to keep popping back in.

I would highly recommend the vehicle.- I got a top o the line toally loaded one and had to negotiate hard for a few hundred off. Be persistent. These vehicles are solidly built and handle great for an SUV. The other neet thing is that hardly anyone else has one. This is a piece of quality with a fantastic warranty.

Great Price! Excellent performance! Beautiful Vehicle! I was shopping for a new vehicle for 4 months and I am very grateful to have found the Santa Fe, by Hyundai. The Santa Fe cost less than a Lexus but drives and looks like one! None of the recall problems like other SUV's.

Short on power
Needs some more leg room
Get the best warranty, I have a feeling I will use it, considering I've only had it a few months and it's been in the shop twice!

I wanted an SUV without the high prices that other comparable SUV's have. I decided to go with this. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have thought twice. The room inside, just isn't big enough, the power is a little slow in the low end. But at the time I thought I was getting a good deal, I have had it in the shop a couple of times since I bought it with electrical problems. They have fixed it twice, I haven't had a problem since the last time.

Similar Products Used:

Hard to compare it to other SUV's. This SUV isn't as big as others, the RAV4 and Honda CRV were two others I looked at, but they were a little high for the same things that I got.

Strength:

Cheaper than everything else like it

Weakness:

longevity is a problem with this vehicle

You get what you pay for. My wife wanted small and sent me to my local dealership to look at it. At first look it seemed like a really decent vehicle for the price with a great warranty. The problem is that they have used all substandard parts to build the thing. With 12K on the clock the seats are ratty looking, and the thing rattles like crazy. It's impossible to get into the dealer for timely service, so I end up fixing it myself anyhow. The thing is really loud too! It's makes a lot of noise but doesn't do much.
