Strength:

Engine, Styling, Value, Suspension, fit/finish, Standard amenities, Isuzu durability and I rarely park next to one, which is a nice feeling when everyone has a trailblazer or explorer.

Weakness:

rear visibility (which only matters when you are backing up, not changing lanes), rear is a bit bouncy when in "buick" suspension mode, tip of hood seems to attract rock chips and center console can't hold more than a lid, but how much more do you really need? Currently limited amount of aftermarket parts but I assume that will change soon. Oh and gas mileage is currently 20 mpg average, not so good but you have to give something up to have something this heavy, powerful and loaded.

The Axiom being on a rodeo frame is a good selling point. If it was good enough for Honda to test the SUV market with (PASSPORT) than it is a decent frame to build on. The styling is so post-apocalyptic 1980's, I love it. The suspension modes are great, although the "buick" setting is a bit bouncy in the rear, but good for in-laws. Anyone that says that they cannot feel the difference must be about 16 years old. The 3.5 is very powerful and hauls the slightly overweight Axiom around with minimal effort and the gas pedal's drive by wire technology really shines when you switch to power drive. Searched for 4 months for a new car and looked at everything from VW jetta wagons to Chevy Tahoe and no one came close to value, power, exclusivity or fit/finish. My wife wanted something with some leather and a more luxurious feel and she is more than happy with it. We got the Jet Black XS 2wd with the Gray leather interior which is the only choice because the other leather is less brown and more like a cantelope orange, yech. No problems so far because it is japanese. (America invents, Germany perfects and Japan builds) All in all, an all around rad truck.

Strength:

Smooth ride, Powerful engine, Great value (not resale), Very attractive looking, a lots of nice features that come as standard.

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage (common complaint for most SUV's), noisy engine, especially at cold start.

Heck of a deal when comparing what you pay and what you get. I've been looking for an SUV in 15K-25K ranges for several months; test-drove Pathfinder, QX4, Montero Sport, Xterra, Grand Cherokee, Liberty and Escape. None of these SUV's would come close in comparison when I test drove Axiom and fell in love with it. Intelligent Suspension works great, and there is a big difference when you switch it between Sport-Comfort. I saw a complaint on this page that Intelligent Suspension switch sucks because there is no difference - probably because it is malfunctioning - take the car to the dealer for check-up. The engine is powerful (noisy too). I am impressed how quick it accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH, especially with Power switch On. The "Check Engine" light came on once - gas tank lid was not tight enough. Make sure to check the gas tank lid before taking the car to the dealer and have the car inspected for $50-$90 - most common problem with many cars and mistake by the owners...

Strength:

warrentee, price, high end features (ie cd changer, info display, intel suspention, )

Weakness:

Brake light sometimes stays on. get about 13.5 Mpg around town

I shopped around for about 4 months and compared all the specs on midsized SUVs. For what I wanted was about $30,000. I looked at the Axiom on the internet but the nearest dealer was about 100 miles away so I test drove all the others first. The Axiom was right in there with the other $30k+ SUVs but when we talked price the $22500 price made the difference. On the home on the highway it got 21 MPG and handled great. I also tow a 3500 lb boat which it handled better than my 1988 Ford F350 crew cab. I also get many positive comments for passerbys about its style and good looks.

Strength:

Sharp looking SUV/Minivan, definitely a woman's car. Black / Tan leather combo looks great. 100,000 mile warranty.

Weakness:

see above. Don't waste your money!!

VERY uneven acceleration. Exaggerated speed bursts between gears are terrible. The underpowered V6 makes a ton of noise but is quite slow for 230HP. The ride is very stiff and it's tough to handle at high speeds. Service techs act like they can't detect the uneven acceleration. Much happier with my old Jeep Cherokee.

Looks, loaded with acc. Tight little kick ass engine. Best factory stereo out there. Though I prefer building my own, no complaints here.

Weakness:

Nice power = gas guzzler

Dig it. I've been a Mitsubish owner since '87. Couldn't find a new Montero or other SUV that I liked with all the options that the Axiom has.

LOOKS! When I'm driving down the road everyone turns their head to catch a glimpse of this truck. Beautiful leather interior, I have black and tan leather with the Metallic Blue color outside. Very smooth drive. Has a winter drive switch for when the roads are icy you will start out in third gear so you won't lose control and swerve. Great power 230hp V6.

Weakness:

The suspension mode switch sucks because you can't tell a difference between the two different modes. The suspension is not as great as I thought it would be. The stereo needs to be louder but you can do that yourself with some modifications.

It's a great looking SUV! I always get compliments about it. Not a lot of people have these cars. This car would look so decked out with some chrome rims. I'm saving some $ to buy either 20inch or 22inch rims to put on it. You can get stock chrome rims in either 18inch or 20inch but they don't look good.

2000 Infiniti QX4 it's better because it's an Infiniti but also $10,000 more. Infiniti has a much smoother ride and drives a little better. Overall it just depends on how much you want to spend.

Strength:

V6, Interior, Styling (a real head turner) Sound system, ease of maintenance, price

Weakness:

gas Mileage

I got lucky, got a demo that regional manager used-maxed out version with every option available. I love it, it uses some gas though which is only draw back for me. The V6 is very powerful and quick. The interior is leather and very comfortable, 6 disc changer is great and stereo sounds great to me-I'm a drummer and through the years have become very critical of sounds. Very functional-we recently moved and it became second moving van so to speak. I drove all kinds of SUV's and sedans before buying the Axiom at 0% financing by the way. Can't beat the price and what you get for it. Comparable vehicles cost quite a bit more. Always a treat to drive short to long distances. I'd buy another.....

Styling.Power.Underhood layout.

Weakness:

Handling/suspension.Stereo.

Have owned the Axiom for just over a year now.Overall we are pleased with it.The wife thinks it is great.I like the simplicity of the engine layout-easy maintenance, uncluttered and what do you know GM ,you can get to the battery and the transmission pan has a drain plug. What I really don't like is the suspension.Very soft on the turns and bumps.I call it a moon buggy.I also don't like the volume limit of 30 on the stereo. I like to crank my tunes!I would buy it again with some suspension mods. The stereo part I can take care of myself

Awesome, Had it since august. Far ahead of all the competition. Was comparing a Toy Highlander, but Toy dealerships are snoodey punks who wont work with you, buy I really wanted the Axiom anyway. More truckey and very good on the road, I have about 12000 on it. Not one problem . for the price you get a hell of alot more than any of the compeditors

Strength:

Good sounding radio. Forward thinking style. Drives like a car but has the storage of an SUV. Adjustable suspension. Great pickup. Classy interior. Lots of options for the price. Quieter than the Explorer other than the a/c fan.

Weakness:

Painted bumper in the front low to the ground gets dinged and chipped extremely frequently. Front license plate bracket is big and ugly! Doors should lock automatically when driving (they lock automatically after exiting the vehicle). EXTREMELY noisy air conditioner - not just the wind coming out the vents but the actual fan unit - the bearings are really loud. Poor stopping distance in "comfort mode." Sometimes excessive motion going over bumps. Virtually no aftermarket parts. Poor sales right now likely will lead to poor resale.

I traded a 1997 Ford Explorer Sport for the Axiom. In a way, I wish I''d kept the Explorer although I do generally like the Axiom despite its faults. The painted bumpers were a horrible idea and get badly banged up from rocks on the road. I probably wouldn''t ever buy another vehicle with painted bumpers. The a/c unit is cold and powerful but the fan bearings make excessive noise and is becoming really annoying. The fan is on the passenger side under the dash based on the grinding noises I hear. (It only has 2000 miles on it.) Headroom in the back is low due to the agressively curved roof. Legroom in the front is really bad if you''re over 5''10" tall. I have the driver seat all the way back and am still cramped. The engine is peppy. Gas mileage is about like any other SUV - not great but not horrible. It has great style outside and inside. The computer display is confusing at first but after riding in other cars with non-integrated displays, I find I really like it better. The dealer can''t keep the steering straight. It''s very susceptible to tire pressure due to the 4000 pound+ weight of the vehicle. If one tire loses some air, I have to turn the wheel slightly left or right to go straight. I wouldn''t say I adore this vehicle, but I do like it. I would be much happier with a quieter a/c fan unit and a radio that could be replaced. The built-in radio is integrated into the air conditioner, so you''re stuck with it. Getting a sunroof was a nice option.
