Strength:

Great motor, good towing power, very good part-time 4WD system, reasonable factory stereo, good gas mileage considering size & weight (20+ mpg), good waranty.

Weakness:

weak brakes, poor interior plastic quality, problematic squeak from rear hatch glass - dealer has yet to resolve after 1 yr. Soft suspension for spirited offroad work - tends to pogo when pushed hard. Limited clearance - thanks for the skid plates Isuzu!

Good mid sized SUV. Great 4WD system for offroad work. Peppy V6 will become dated as competition offer V6's with 250hp. Good gas mileage for this type of vehicle. Unique as a three legged frog up here in Canada. A real head turner. This is an show SUV that goes! And gets you back too. Just wish there were more aftermarket parts avalible for serious offroad work. Try one - you'll be impressed.

Strength:

Great value, good power.

Weakness:

Soft shocks, seat belt lock sensitivity (both minor weaknesses)

I'm very happy with my Rodeo. I put a great stereo system in right off the bat and tinted the windows for security/privacy. Looks sharp in Garden Green with black windows.

Put in Edelbrock Performer IAS to firm up the ride ($250 and three hours of time) and now it rides perfectly. Gas mileage is satifactory and performance/power is great!

I'm planning to use it until the powertrain warranty expires in ten years so my expectations are pretty high. I expect (and hope) that it can be done!

Definitely recommend!

Strength:

One of the best looking SUV's around, especially in silver. Power, ruggedness, versatility, and overall quality definitely a plus. Perfect size, not too big (Ford Expedition) and not too small (Toyota Rav4). Great warranty and beautiful DOHC 3.2 liter V6 to get you going. Took it offroad and was surprised on how well it handled the mud and rocks.

Weakness:

Poor fuel economy. I did own a 1988 Honda Acoord 4 cylinder before the Isuzu though. The fuel guage is my only major gripe. It shows half full 20 miles after a fillup and then hovers near empty with 8 gallons still in the tank. Isuzu dealer told me it is a common problem with Rodeo's and Isuzu still has not come up with a fix. The suspension is also a little stiff.

I am very pleased with the truck so far. I paid a very fair price for a 1 1/2 year old vehicle fully loaded with only 24000 miles. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a midsize SUV.

Strength:

Runs great and has plenty of room for carrying the family and anything else. We even put a 32 inch tv in it with no problem. The seats are comfortable. Also, it is very fun to drive. This vehicle would be great for anyone to drive. My wife is short and has no problem driving it.

Weakness:

It seems to be rough on tire. They are wearing rather quickly. It came with near offroad tires on it which are not needed. It doesn't have the best gas mileage, but it is bearable. The ride is somewhat rough mainly because the suspension is stiff.

Would definitely recommend. My wife says she will not drive anything else. I think she likes being higher up than she used to be in a car. Also, she can haul things back and forth to work easily. The best part about it is the room you have. This probably goes for all SUVs, but for us the Rodeo's size is perfect. Not too large and not too small.

Strength:

Looks, style, power, smooth ride, quietness, value.

Weakness:

Drivers seat belt rattles a bit.

This is a great vehicle and a tremendous value. The LSE has all the bells and whistles for a lot less than any of the others. So far, we love it. Do keep in mind if this is your first SUV, they are not cars. They tend to ride more like trucks.

We drove a Nissan Xterra and a Pathfinder. Both were much louder, and had sluggesh pick-up. The comperable Pathfinder (i.e. w/leather, etc.) was in the mid 30's.m Also, the Isuzu was much less bumpier than the Nissans.

Model Reviewed: Rodeo LS 2WD 3.2L V6 Auto

Strength:

What DON'T I like?? Sleek look, from front, side and back. Great ride - not so smooth you can't feel the road but doesn't feel like it'll rattle your teeth out, either. Comfy seats, tons of cargo room. 3.2L V6 is zippy as all get-out, feels like it wants to go 80 all the time.

Weakness:

At 80mph on highway, engine RPM could have been a little lower IMHO.

Owed a smidge on the Explorer when I traded it in, but if you don't count that part of the loan looks like I paid around $25k out the door including what they gave me for my trade. Got $100 over invoice on an Internet deal, and 2.9% interest for 60 months, can't beat that - free money. LS is a great deal. So much standard. To get an "S" to that point you end up paying more $$ for same options. Got standard LS package (ac, pw, pl, roof rack, cargo cover, cargo mat, V6 auto, etc) and didn't upgrade anything - took the AM/FM Cassette, figured they wanted $700 for CD and I can get an aftermarket for less than half that. Got treated great by dealer, service very high on their priority list. My first new-new car, and I love it, looking forward to years of happiness. I'd recommend it to anyone - fun, quiet, comfy, very cute (sporty), sharp looking. Like 16" wheels standard. Great on the highway, great around town, yet to take it offroad but looking forward to it. GET ONE!!! For $25k if you're lucky you can get an Explorer Sport 2dr or a 2dr Blazer -- why??? Lots more bang for the buck.

1994 Ford Explorer 4WD XLT -- Ford was a rattle-trap and squeaker. Rode like a truck but a REALLY rough ride. Had typical probs as mileage crept up but traded in at 75,000 mi and value took a dive. Shouldn't at 75K, but that's a Ford for you. Liked my Explorer til it started falling apart underneath me. LOVE this Rodeo and from what I've read about reliability I'm going to keep loving it for a long, long time.

Strength:

this truck has plenty of power for the mountains and 4 wheel disk brakes with rear anti-lock for smooth stops. There is plenty of room for 4 people and all types of gear. It is also well protected on the undercarriage.

Weakness:

After 50,000 miles my check engine light came on which turned out to be an emissions problem, but this was covered under the 60,000 mile warranty. Could use stiffer suspension and a hair more clearance. If I want to hear loud music I wear my headphones.

I got a killer deal on the truck due to some minor scratches in the paint, but I'm sure there will be plenty more when I retire it. This is a great truck for the budget minded individual, I would much rather have a land cruiser but they will still be around when my salary triples.

Strength:

I've only had my rodeo for a little less than a month but I already love it. The 205hp is nice to have in a truck. It's a relatively smooth and comfortable ride. The stereo is nice but can be made even better with an amplifier and some subs. I've only babied it off-road because I just broke 1000 miles but so far it seems to hold its own.

Weakness:

The 205hp version of the car is jumpy if you give it gas over any sort of bump. The only other thing i'm worried about is reliability, but so far so good. Could use some more ground clearance.

I would definatley recommend it. It has everything you could want in an SUV unless you want some luxury SUV which isn't really a truck at all.

Great for the price. Got my LS, 4x4, manual trans, alloy rims for about $22,000. More stylish and faster than most. Less ground clearance than a 4Runner, but overall a great buy.

Strength:

Fun to drive, looks great, sounds and feels tight. Comfortable and reliable. This vehicle is possibly the best liked vehicle in it's class that I have ever owned.

Weakness:

I'd have to dig to find a weakness. Maybe the suspension travel is too short. The stereo doesn't sound as good as I'd want it to. The AC is slightly weak, but I live in Phoenix.

I love this car. I've been driving it a year now, and it actually seems as if it's getting even better. I broke it in with regular oil, and have been using synthetic since. The engine is very smooth and responsive. It's fun to drive. I know someone that has a Rodeo with 280K on it, and he loves his too.

more horsepower than blazer and explorer. better handling due to 5 link coilspring rear suspension.

unlike my 92 rodeo ls the 98 rodeo has a rev limiter and speed shutoff at 115MPH. Rear suspension does sag with the slightest load. Open differentials on front and rear of 4wd model

A fter seeing prices elsewhere and looking over other reviews I see that I paid way too much for mine $27,985.00
