Strength:

Reasonable in price, many standard features, full ladder frame, each plug has its own coil, easy to change plugs..VERY RELIABLE.

Weakness:

To much wind noise, engine should have lower RPM,and more torque..Worried alittle about he GM tranny that comes w/the Rodeo..Reliable??? No problems yet @ 42K....Should have the Vericross transfercase made available!!!! Part time is a real pain in snow country...

I like the part where,I've never had to take the Rodeo back to the dealer for problems..it maybe not as polished as Grand Cherokee, not as fast as the Durango, reliable as a 4Runner??? time will tell..Now w/Isuzu upping the anny w/10yr. 120k Warr., what justifies the rest of the big buck field
with thier crummy 3yr,36mo. Warranties?????? The Rodeo doesn't do anything great, but it does evrything good, and thats good enough for me. Hummmmmm,I put my money on the Rodeo and you know what.....I still have some money left......kr

Strength:

I really like the smooth and roomy ride of my Rodeo. Its easier to load up a bunch of friends and travel because of the spacious backseat. I also like the power and smooth transmission.

Weakness:

Like most people, I think it lacks cup holders. Gas mileage isn't really a problem, but it could be better.

I traded a 1996 Cavalier for my 1995.5 Rodeo LS, and its probably the BEST thing have done in awhile. Eventhough it's 5 years old, its only got 62,000 miles on it. Its fully loaded, with some extras. Its in flawless condition...no dents, scratches, and the interior is immaculate! I only paid $9890 for my Rodeo...a BIG steal from J and J Auto Sales in Lone Grove, OK. For have never been an SUV owner before....my best decision was to test drive that nice Rodeo....way back in the corner of the lot!

Strength:

I like the look. It looks somewhat like a Hummer. I like the power you get with the 3.2 liter engine. It has a secure feeling about it. The engine (if properly toned) sounds much like a big block 454.

Weakness:

Everynow and then there is a rattling from the spare tire. If you dont have the a/c installed right it makes a very annoying diesel like sound.

I paid about $15,000 for mine. I would reccomend this car to someone who dosen't have the most money, but then again likes to go 4 wheeling on some of the most difficult trails. If this car is beefed up then it could be a real off road monster.

Body style, it looks somewhat like a Hummer. But it has more horsepower and better gas mileage then a Hummer.

Model Reviewed: Rodeo LS 4x4

Strength:

Fast, stylish, roomy, well built, gas mileage great (I'm getting better than then manufacturer predicts)

Weakness:

Packaging - I wanted the dark tinted windows but it was only an option on the LSE but the LSE came standard with leather which I really didn't want.
For those with the tire on the tailgate it is difficult to retrieve items out of the back by just opening the window.

I haven't owned this vehicle long but I love it. It is fun to drive and I think the 10 year powertrain warranty speaks for the reliability issue. We bought an Alpine white LS 4x4 with sunroof, alloy wheels, 6 disc changer, cargo mat and taillight guards for 23,950 (dealership threw in Yakima racks also). After $495 freight, $198 processing, taxes, tags.... came to 25,500 out the door. Only problem, we had to drive 3 hours to get it. Our local dealerships had no 4x4's.

Looks, Power, features and price

Weakness:

cup holders could be placed in a better position

I paid $22,530.00 for an LS 4x4 automatic without the cd player. It had the rear spoiler, tail lite gards and the cargo liner. With just over 1k miles on it I took it on a 3200 mile cross country trip without a hitch. The ride an fuel economy were actually better than I expected.I have just over 10k on it now with out any problems. I would highly recommend this rig to anyone. I shopped alot and this was by far the biggest bang for the buck. I tow a 16.5ft fishing boat with no problem, and the four wheel drive comes in handy on some of the boat landing.

Strength:

Excellent versatility - good cargo room. 4 wheel drive has been consistent and functional.

Weakness:

Power is seriously lacking for a V-6 sport ute. The GM built 3 Liter struggles to get the Rodeo up to speed - I shudder to think of the repsonse were I ever to try to tow something.

I got the vehicle from someone moving out of town so I bought it "worth the money" - I am very hapy with the purchase - hoping to get it up north of 150K miles before I even think about letting it go.

It's a perfect entry level SUV - I am plannig on moving up to the currect model group of Rodeo when I retire this one - they have solved the engine problem while managing to add even a bit more cargo space - it's a very strong package in it's current form.

Good Looks, Awsome V6, Smooth Transmission, Leather interior, Solid and well built

Weakness:

I'd like better gas mileage, but not at the expense of any power

I paid $2000 below factory invoice, after rebate. I have owned this vehicle for over a year and I am still in love with it. 27k miles with no mechanical problems at all. It is a joy to drive. I would recommend this vehicle very highly for anyone looking for a mid-sized SUV.

Strength:

The Rodeo is kind of a fun SUV. Very powerful and no problems in inclement weather. 4WD is very responsive, as well as Winter and Ice features. Comfortable and roomy. Decent factory CD and sound system.

Weakness:

Lousy on gas, like most SUVs. Sometimes it seems to have a good pickup; other times it doesn't. Some body sway in turns. For price, does not have same features of other closely priced vehicles, such as minivans. Poor workmanship on tail-lights and moonroof (short circuits when a drop of water hits it because they did not put a cover to the circuit board in the 97 Rodeos).

$258/month, about $28k at the time. Good price, as in all SUVs, but shop around.

Its a good vehicle and has more than 70,000 miles on it with no engine problems. Have been in one very serious accident when I was rear ended. Costly to repair, the accident caused more than $10k in damage, but I had no injuries whatsoever and was still able to drive it home (with a big dent in the back).

Its a buy in my book.

Strength:

Hardly hear road or engine noise going down the road, Smooth acceleration, comfortable on long trips and priced right

Weakness:

Gas mileage the same as a V-8(would rather have the power of the V-8) Very bouncy over BIG bumps

I paid $27k out the door in FEB99 for my LS 4X4. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an SUV that has some lighter toys to haul around, not any 27' boats or anything. I have a 16' walleye boat w/ a 50hp O/B and the Rodeo tows it just fine, the mileage drops down quite a bit but I'll live with it for now.

I would like to see Isuzu come out with an 8 cylinder for the rodeo that is just as smooth and dependable as their 6. The mileage would be about the same and the towing would be slightly increased. Do something to absorb bumps a little better and they'd have the ultimate SUV one might even make Jeep look over their shoulder.
