Strength:

Well built with plenty of power comfortable ride and plenty of room.

Weakness:

Mileage could be better

I would recommend this vechile in a heart beat. It looks good, rides well and I haven't had any trouble with it. If you change out the stock air filter for a K&N model, the MPG actually improves.

Strength:

100k mile warranty (a necessity with this car--if you buy this car no matter what PURCHASE IT!) It is a great looking car, very comfortable, and that is it.

Weakness:

Being on a first name basis with the Jeep Service Manager. This car is in the shop every month for something--It is an electrical nightmare, broken axel, Air Conditioner, electric locks, power windows, rotors, and on and on.

I would recommend this car only to my enemies. It is a beautiful car but after 25k miles it fall apart and quick. Price is on par with other cars of its caliber but too expensive for the number of days its in the shop.

BUY THE 100k EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO NEED THAT FREE RENTAL CAR WHILE THIS THING SITS IN THE SHOP.

Strength:

Quality, Style, V8 Engine, overall comfort and performance.

Weakness:

Brakes (I pray I never HAVE to stop short), Climate control (why does the AC come on when I turn it up to 80 in the middle of January?)

Would recommend (V8 don't even bother with the 6). Well worth the money!

Strength:

Improved passenger compartment quietness. Better handling into turns. Hidden spare tire. Interior appearance and exteroir looks.

Weakness:

The added weight seems to be a little more than the 6 cyl. can handle on exceleration compared to the 1997 that I owned in the past.

$28,500 Yes. Superior ride, reliability and styling. Good workmanship went into vehicle. I've owned a 1985, 1988,
1993, 1997 and the 1999 is the best by far.

Strength:

Great styling, power, comfort and build quality. Ergonomics are terrific--much better than my dad's ML430. The off road performance is awesome. One thing, dear soccer moms (and dads), if you're looking for a Lexus, please remember that this is a 4WD TRUCK!!!

Weakness:

After I come to a stop and then start up again there is a transmission "clunk". I understand this can be fixed by repacking with heavier grease, but I haven't bothered to take the truck in yet. NOTE: shifting into 4 lo and then out, helps.

Leased for 32,000 b/c we had heard horror stories about jeeps. So far at almost 8000 miles I have nothing too terrible to report. The transmission clunk doesn't bother me too much, and the jeep does everything else so well that I can't complain. The gas mileage is just fine--I get around 15mpg in the city and 19mpg on the highway. Oh yeah... the performance is mind-blowing and the stereo is excellent.

Please don't hesitate to contact me via email if you have questions. I am very impressed with this Jeep.

Regards,
John Francis

Model Reviewed: Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd 5.2 V8

Strength:

What can I say? I saw it on the lot, drove it once & bought it. It's BIG, black with gold pkg, tinted windows, 4WD, love the leather interior, awesome Infinity Gold sound system, gotta have those heated seats, can't be without my steering wheel audio controls. I feel like I'm in control of the cars around me, probably because I'm so high off the ground. The V8 has great pick up. I like racing with the little sports cars that are stopped beside me at a red light. Of course I ONLY do that when my kids are NOT in the Jeep. It never fails, no matter where I am...at work, the grocery store, or at home, when I get out of my Jeep I ALWAYS ALWAYS have to look back. It looks so awesome & it's mine. Am I the only one that does that?

Weakness:

GAS MILEAGE...need I say more? But we are all aware of that, right? I do have a problem when making sharp turns. The wheels seem to hesitate & jerk. I took it to a Jeep Dealership, they say that it's the 4x4 system. Also when I apply the breaks at high speeds, the steering wheel shakes. So they checked that problem out & are telling me that the front rotors need to be changed. So soon at only 24K miles??? It's also about time to change the tires...$$$$

At $26,000, only 12,000 miles & 2/3 of the warranty left, the answer is yes. But I would love to Upgrade to a 2000 model

Model Reviewed: Grand Cherokee Laredo

Strength:

Interior is plush and confortable and has many goodies to play with; good power; terrific steering; and plenty of room and good heating and A/C.

Weakness:

Front rotors replaced; window motor in passenger door replaced; drive shaft replaced; differential twice replaced and in for third time (bearings and noises); one spark plug defective; wheel chatters when brakes applied; mileage dropping off from 19.2 to 18.8 after new plugs; driven 30,000 miles. Mechanically this is a bomb ready to go off. I too am looking for a "lemon lawyer"...

$34,900.00. I would not recommend this purchase..there is a lack of reliability and obviously no quality control.

Model Reviewed: Grand Cherokee Limited

Strength:

Very fast for an SUV, perfect size vehicle, nice stock sound system, great looking, very nice leather seats, full size spare

Weakness:

Oh my where to start. The stock tires are not up to par for either off roading or for on the road, the full size spare takes up a lot of room, mechanical problems galor, replacement parts cost a fortune, it rattles terribly, horrible rolling at low speeds when cornering/hit bump, stock audio system a total pain to upgrade, so-so transmission, 12-13 MPG, takes mid-high grade gas else performance lags a bit

I have just about lost all faith in Jeep. I have had two Jeeps and they just fall apart. Here is a list of problems I've had with my 94 GCL;
-Coolant container cracked
-Tailgate latch broke
-Thing that holds the gas cap down broke ($200 to fix!!!)
-Visor clip broke ($6 for a little piece of plastic)
-Fog light fell apart on its own on a hot day ($35 for reflector and lens [no bulb, no installation]!)
-Power Antenna broke
-Screen on cd player broke
-Two power windows broke
-Numerous fluid leaks of unknown nature
-High beam went out (but after 6 years...)
-Several MAJOR problems with brakes
-Electrical problems of unknown origin
-Keyless entry fabs broken several times

I think that is about it, and now for my complaints
1) Gas Milage - OMG it is terrible! I get 12-13MPG in the city and roughly 18 on the highway. I have to put $25 in this thing every week.
2) Tires - I tend to keep it on the road for the most part. The Goodyear Wranglers (225/70R15) that come stock on this car are pathetic. They aren't a street tire and aren't off-road tires either. I've lost all four original tires while off roading. Their performance on the pavement is only par at best. They love to chirp when making tight turns and don't exactly grip the road all that well. The OE tires have since been replaced with a street tire. I recommend that everyone put a street tire on this vehicle.
3) Interior Noises - This vehicle loves to let you know how its feeling. I have used damping materials and sprays to try and calm the mighty beast of its squeeks, but to little avail.
4) Mechanical Problems - I have had so many problems with this vehicle it is pathetic. Its not cheap to fix it either. This must be the most expensive domestic SUV to fix. Thank God for cell phones and AAA.
5) Alarm/Keyless Entry - Its a joke. The old school IR transmitter that it uses has a range of about five feet. I have gone through four transmitters (of which I was able to repair two until they were no longer useable). The stock alarm is laughable. The only thing it is hooked up to is the doors. Break a window, pop the hood, disconnect the battery and she is all yours along with everything inside.
6) Audio System - What a pain it is. The only way to upgrade the stock infinity system is to rip it all out. It uses 6 ohm speakers, an amp which has no parameters, and a typical OE head unit (cd player).

I do believe that is about all I have to say about this vehicle. I love the V8 power it puts out, but its just such a hassle. The poor MPG and build quality do not really make up for the good qualities in the vehicle.

Strength:

Looks great. Engine runs good.

Weakness:

Where do I start...After 2000 miles shifting problems 2nd to 3rd. Transmission replaced by dealer. Driver window electric motor replaced. Front brake rotors replaced. Continued problem with shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear at low speeds. Front rotors turned . Rear rotors turned. More shifting problems. Rear door latch problem fixed ok. Terrible brake shuttering, both front and rear brakes turned again. Still problem with shifting, has been in the shop about 10 times. Waiting for 2000 more miles so that I can get my brakes turned again if there is enough metal left on the rotors. Since July 4th purchase date I have 14,000 miles. My next trip on the 14th of Feb. is to a LEMON LAW lawyer here in Orlando. I hear he is great.....

Full price 26,000 or so plus tax, because of my trade in. My vehicle is a lemon. I could not recommend it to anyone,,, maybe my ex mother in law.
