Strength:

It looks cool. Handles good. Comfortable.

Weakness:

It's been stolen from me twice. Even with The Club (worthless piece of crap) on my steering wheel, it's been stolen from me twice... it's my fault for buying one of the top 5 most stolen vehicles made. I don't have it anymore cuz it was stolen last night and I didn't have theft insurance - so I'm a sad panda. It's one of the easiest cars to steal as well. Plus - the radiator they put in em are cheap and go bad the first year - so if you have one made in 93, it's probably been replaced already. The transmission went out at 130k.

I paid about 10k for it 3 years ago and it was a nice price for what I got. Now it's gone and I can't reclaim my loss. All I can do is cry and hope you all feel pity for me. Mine was red. I would recommend them cuz I liked having the car, but I would also recommend getting some sort of kill switch device combined with lojack and maybe that new brake lock (not the one from the brake to the steering wheel) at www.unbrakeable.com. I don't work for that company or anything, but it just looks like a good device to me. I'm giving this car the lowest value rating cuz for my 10,000 bucks I only got to drive it for 3 years and I didn't have a chance to sell it to get any of my money back. My sister has a 99 jeep grand cherokee and she loves it. I love it too.

Strength:

power, ride, comfort, decent 4WD system,

Weakness:

extremely poor quality control, rattles, squeaks, rough
transmission, numerous fluid leaks,

I bought this new in '93, and after 30,000 miles, it quickly
became a nuisance. It has had the transfer case seals
replaced 8 times, the front crankcase oil seal replaced
once, the EPV valve & gasket replaced, the steering damper
replaced, the electric window wiring harness replaced, the stereo has died, and the interior rattles like a banshee. And the crankscase, transfer case, and both axle differentials continue to leak. Luckily I had bought an
extended 72 month/100,000 mile warranty, or I would have
sold this thing as soon as the factory warranty ran out.
These cars are built like complete crap, and then sold at a
ridiculous markup. This will be my last Jeep purchase.

Strength:

Comfort, radio, leg room, road handling, seating, heaviness provides feeling of safety, suspension system

Weakness:

Gas mileage, 4 wheel drive and steering mechanical problems, cargo space inadequate.

We were somewhat concerned when a $30,000 vehicle developed so many major problems with only 30,000 miles. Fortunately, work was under warranty, but, we are unsure about whether the vehicle should be kept due to possible major problems re-developing. The vehicle performed very well until problems developed, and we planned to buy another Jeep product as a second vehicle. We will have to give this careful thought now. The vehicle was treated well, and the 4 wheel drive was used only infrequently in snowy conditions. We are wondering if other people have experienced similar problems.
The vehicle should satisfy anyone looking for a feeling of safety and road handling, however, gas mileage may be a concern for those traveling long distance too work on a daily basis.

Strength:

Great design and price

Weakness:

Terrible build quality. Look at the number and type of Technical Service Bulletins there are.

$33,500. Its back in the shop again. I believe there were 13 problems with it this time.

If it worked, my only nit would be the seats could give better back support -- but it don't work.

Strength:

Decent Ride and Handling for an SUV, 4.0L has good power and fuel mileage, Quadra Track full time 4WD is excellent on or off road. Body is sound and squeak-free at 110K miles.

Weakness:

Engine noise, transmission longevity, rear axle problems, rear seat legroom and comfort, cargo area too small

Engine replaced 3 times under warranty for piston slap noise, finally cured with new engine in 1996 at 40K miles. Transmission needed replacement at 95K miles, it always shifted poorly. Get this!- both rear axles needed replacement at 90K miles since they were scored at the outboard (bearing)ends. Rear axle lubricant was clean and fully filled. Improper factory heat treatment?
Rear seat legroom is sparse and seat is poor for long trips. Rear cargo area is small and way too much space is taken up by the full size spare which is required with the limited slip differential. I paid $24,000

Strength:

SPEED, handling, braking, front seat comfort.

Weakness:

That weirdness of having to constantly correct the steering while highway cruising, the gas mileage.

I got this vehicle (94 Laredo V8) used for under $20k including an extended warranty about 3 years ago. I've never been stuck in the car, and do feel it to reliable, but it is not perfect. There have been several repairs though none at inconvenient time or without warning.

There are times when this truck is so much fun to drive. It's fast and - dare I say - nimble, especially in less than ideal conditions. My major gripe is that truck takes too much focus to keep it going straight while cruising.

The four wheel drive is amazing. Whether its off-roading or bad weather, it seems to be able to handle anything. It's my first truck, and I have been very impressed.

I love the front seat. I wish there was a place for my left foot though (fixed in '99 and newer). Initally, it took a little time to get used to the distance to the dash. Also wish it had more storage.

I would have no quams about a 2000 except for a) reliability (which is going back up) and b) safety. There's no reason a truck this heavy coudln't have put a little more reinforcement into the safety cage. Bad move for a family oriented vehicle.

I have had this vehicle since July '99. I love it even with the gas mileage. I just don't uderstand how I can get the same gas mileage as a 620HP V12 Mclaren F1?!?

Weakness:

Fuel economy, Transmission sounds, limited aftermarket upgrades due to new model year.

I purchased my jeep last July, and man do I love it. I've taken it off road, to LA, to Tahoe, and this jeep is awsome. I have the limited with the 6/4.0. I choose it over the 8/4.7 because i thought i could save some gas. My jeep has enough power to pass other SUVs going up a steep incline at 7000 feet. I may make some upgrades to the engine to give it a little more power for off road use.
