Power, comfort, off road capabilities, appearance, size, list goes on and on.

Weakness:

Gas mielage

This car has been great for me. No problems at all. I've test driven a few SUV's and nothing compares to the power and off road capabilities of a jeep. i can't believe it's so low on the list when "Cars" like the Haundai Santa fe and toyota highlander are at the top. Sure they ride better but they belong in a differnt catagory. if you want a short station wagon buy a santa fe or highlander, but if you wan't an SUV buy a JEEP! 'It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand"

One of the only real 'Sport' Utility Vehicles as well one of the few that can truly handle off-road driving. The 4.7 V8 is just plain fun to punch! Ride quality is excellent for an SUV. The size is right and the turning radius is very short, making everyday driving a pleasure. The Quadra-Drive 4 wheel system has handled everything I've come across without flinching. The Grand Cherokee would fit the needs of anyone not needing a massive vehicle, from soccer moms/dads, to true hard-core off-road enthusiasts.

Strength:

I actually get good gas mileage from mine, great power, great comfort, easy to drive and park. Very good visibility. Love the interior.

Weakness:

Quaility. From the peeling door seals to the replaced shocks, differential, oil seals, power steering, radiator fan, exhaust manifold, and I'll also mention the reprogramming of the computer for the engine and the transmission twice. I am a mechanic so I know how to take care of a vehicle - these problems seem to be pretty common to lots who have posted here.

Wow, looks like someone is trying to manipulate this review. The the last dozen all look like they were posted from the same guy. I have a 1999 that has had to many problems to list. I do like the power and ride. Everyone seems to have a problem with the gas mileage, but I get 17-18 with the v8 on the interstate. My problems have been with the quality of the parts. Also have many oil leaks. All 4 shocks were leaking oil after 30k miles. and there's the constant pull to the right. ALSO: this is worthy of notice if you are buying a used 1999+. I have noticed the noise from the drive train has gotten louder and louder as I put on miles. The dealer says there is nothing I can do about it. I'm serious when I say it IS LOUD! My wife and I can't even have a discussion while driveing without talking loudly. Just an FYI if your looking at used Jeeps.

Strength:

Great off-road capabilities and yet luxury sedan comfort on-road. Great
engine with gobs of power. Very attractive vehicle inside and out.

Weakness:

Seats could be improved on. A little to soft for long drives.

Very good overall vehicle. Very smooth ride. Very smooth and powerful
driverain. Excellent fit and finish.

Had a 93' Ford Explorer. The Grand Cherokee has much more power and is
much smoother and quieter on the road. Also the Grand Cherokee is far more
versatile in its off-road capabilities.

Strength:

Very good on-road as well as off-road. It seems to "change personalities" for each use.
The I6 4.0 engine has plenty of power and is known for it's durability.
It's a Jeep!

Weakness:

The biggest problem I have with it is that my wife loves it too. Sometimes she takes it and leaves me stuck driving her Mazda 626!

After driving beaters and subcompacts for nearly 20 years, I vowed that my next vehicle would be something that felt comfortable and that I loved to drive. I wanted an SUV and quickly narrowed down my selection to either The JGC or the Ford Explorer. Both were comfortable, the Explorer had a little more room, but the Jeep was clearly a more versatile vehicle. Some people had complaints about Jeeps (build quality, slightly higher cost, etc.) but I knew that I would never be "proud" to own an Explorer.

I love my Jeep and I'll probably always own one. It may not be for everybody. Kind of like there's dog people and cat people, there's Jeep people and non-Jeep people.

It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.

Strength:

lots of power, solid ride,

Weakness:

inside is a little small, the full time 4wd transfer case wears out at 180K miles, 12mpg

Great ride , wish I had the money to buy a newer one. 2" lift with 31" tires makes it look more like a jeep. can wait to go 4.5" and 33"s then it will really look bad!

Strength:

Absolutly the best off road, tough looking, "go-anywhere, anytime", no more checking the wheather forcasts!

Weakness:

My 5.2L V8 sucks down gas but on the highway it isn't too bad @ 20MPG considering I have a 4" lift and 31" tires.

So far I have had NOTHING but great luck with this monster. I love the power, the look, the capability, the JEEP TRADITION and the overall feel of the vehicle.
EVERYONE NEEDS A JEEP IN THIS JUNGLE!
