Strength:

4x4 is unstopable. I have only gotten stuck once and that was in a freshly plowed wheat field during a rain storm. My work takes me to some rough places. And the Jeep is great fun to take any where from city to mountains. And you can modify the TJ with every thing you could imagine

Weakness:

The dana 35 rear end is week and have broken the rear axle this last winter when the emergency brake froze to the wheel and the torque of the engine twisted it right off. Also the exhaust manifold has been fixed five times by the dealer under warranty and it started leeking again after another 30,000 miles. And the wiring harness was defected from the factory and had to be replaced under warranty.

This Jeep will go any where and do any thing that you tell it to. I will keep it forever. The 2.5l is a pretty good little motor but if you can get the 4.0l with a five speed & Dana 44 rear end that would be a better choice. I have 107,000 miles on it now and haven't had a lot of problems. Mostly factory mess ups and the all common exhaust manifold leak. But over all I have loved the little Jeep and can't wait to modify it more and more over the years.

Similar Products Used:

I also have had 2 Cherokees, Grand Wagoneer, Isuzu Trooper, 2 Ford Rangers and a Geo Prizm. The Wrangler is the most fun to drive, but the smallest in space. And go more places than any other vehicle on the market.

Strength:

Aftermarket options
REAL offroadability
Removable top and doors
Legendary style
If you cant get there in a Jeep, you really shouldnt go there.
Solid axles and leaf springs
Pulling other lesser SUVs out of stucks :)

Weakness:

Ride quality takes some getting used to
A little drafty and noisy (soft top)
No V-8 offered

I love this vehicle. Wouldnt trade it for anything.

Used as intended (off road) nothing but a Land Rover D-90 or Hummer can beat it in stock form.

What are those?

I thin Jeep Wranglers are incredible. Nothing else really compares. The simple design and great performance (both on and off-raod) are things that set it apart in the class....WAY APART!

Going Topless is great! Playing in the mud is always a good time.

Weakness:

All other SUV's are whats weak

Jeeps are the greatest! The first time you drive one, you fall in love! Nothing else can compare. It's a 4x4 Convertible! The best of both worlds! Not to mention customizing your jeep becomes an endless obsession! You can drive it almost anywhere.

Strength:

Amazing head room, more than any other vehicle I've been in. Great power (4.0L I6 engine). Goes anywhere, great for camping in the rockies.

Weakness:

Only suitable for lightweight towing. Doesn't handle like a sports car (but then again, it is an SUV, you shouldn't be driving it like one).

This vehicle has done everything I've asked of it with no complaints, overall quality is great, it handles my family of four just fine.

There really is no competition for this product. Nobody but Jeep builds a small off-road vehicle that is as sturdy as a Wrangler.

Strength:

Off roading, Open air, fun to drive

Weakness:

interior storage space

Great truck. Best off-roader made. A HUGE selection of aftermarket upgrades. Most fun to drive this side of a motorcycle. Have had no problems with truck. Not for people who just want to pose and dirve to the mall. Doesn't have all the creature comforts some people want.

Similar Products Used:

Nothing really in its class. The other small SUVs are aimed at women going to the mall.

Strength:

Top comes off, Fun, it has cup holders.

Weakness:

Poor quality, 4.0 underpower, bad gas milage for how small it is, engine had no problems but everthing else did!

I bought it because the drop top. I should of looked harder. I have had too many problems. For one in the morning the transmission would shake the whole thing untill I stoped so I took it to the dealer and they replaced the transmission with only 15,000 miles. Other problems I have had are water leaking from under the passanger seat.
I had an electrical problem and it would not start, and it died at stop lights.
My boyfriend says he compairs it to a box with tires. I did'n notice how small it was untill I drove his 4runner.
I can not recommend a jeep to anyone.

Strength:

Versatility and a definite "head turner"! Shift on the fly 4WD, accessibility to engine components for maintenance, ground clearance.

Weakness:

Poor customer/mechanical service at 3 different area dealerships! I have taken my Jeep in several times for a ticking sound (I swear it's a tappet) but they always tell me that it is normal with "those Jeeps". I have had the lower block replaced once, exhaust manifold replaced 3 times, oil cover 2 times and have gone thru more catalytic converters & mufflers than i can count on one hand.

Other than that ticking issue, I am completely satisfied with my Jeep. I bought it with 22 miles on the spedometer and now have 118k. We have been off roading in Death Valley, Gorman, Palm Springs, Big Bear, and a few dirt roads off the side of the road. Knock on wood, we have never had any trip stopping issues. As for ride...it's a Jeep so you can't really expect much. Then again, I am 7" above stock height without the need for a body lift. I love the ability to drive with the top on, top partially off, top completely off, doors off, windsheild down. So many ways to enhjoy this vehicle. Not to forget the great bunch of accessories that I purchase from John Meehan over at 4WheelParts Wholesale. Currently I am saving up for the spring coil conversion. That is a 6" lift alone! That combined with my Boston Acustic speakers, Kicker subs, and Fosgate amps...like I said...it's a head turner!

Strength:

Off road prowess, I-6 low end torque, removable doors and top, easy to work on, easy to modify to fit your particular use, fun to drive, retains value.

Weakness:

Limited cargo room, difficult to secure your personal belongings.

Awesome and fun to drive vehicle. I bought my first Wrangler several years ago because I wanted something that was fun to drive, affordable, and would retain it's value until I could afford a more expensive "dream car"...probably a sports car of some sort. Well, that was several years ago and now the Wrangler is my dream car! I have since traded away my old YJ to start over with a newer TJ (1997 and newer) for it's better safety, handling, and offroad features. I take my Wrangler offroading at least once a month (if not once a week!) and have the top down every day I can.

All of the weaknesses I listed can easily be remedied with readily available aftermarket products.
