Strength:

Power, looks, 4x4 on snow, did I mention great looks? :-)

Weakness:

Lack of any space, ride, noise, gas mileage, transmission flaws, minor electrical problems.

Powerful engine, awesome looks and really bad factory stereo system. Not too comfortable for a 6.1 man, but it's a Jeep and wasn't expecting it to be comfy, luxurious or smooth. The only real drawback is that I have been back to the dealership more times in 6 months than in 4 years of owning my prior Cherokee. Minor things that cost a couple of hundred dollars each time. Not expected for an 03 that I keep immaculate. Except for all the trips to the dealer, it feels great to drive a Wrangler and still love Jeeps.

Its a Jeep

Weakness:

Dealership does not like to fix problems that are supposed to be covered under warranty.

This jeep is the best one so far without a doubt with the heavy duty drivetrain and the powerful I6. However the factory stereo system is painful to listen to and those noisy tires pick up any rocks off the road and blast the nice shiny paint job.

Strength:

Looks, off road capability, tons of quality after market parts and easy to work on. And the "Jeep" people are great.

Weakness:

Expect bad gas milage, but hey, it's a Jeep.

So far so good. The Rubicon is a monster in the Arizona mountains. The lockers and the Dana 44 axles seem to handle anything. I also have a Nissan 4X4 pickup that is very good off road, but the Rubicon is far better. The only thing I have added was a winch, rock sliders and a K & N air filter. It is definitly trail ready. On the road it handles well (it is a Jeep), and rides good. Not anything like the motorcycle feeling from previous Jeeps. I have the soft top and it is surprisingly quiet, you don't need to yell at the passenger to talk. You can even listen to the stereo at 75 mph. The only drawback that I can see is the gas milage, I can get 15 if I keep my foot out of it, but I expected that.

Strength:

Look, strong vehicle if you dont abuse it, offroad capability, fun to drive

Weakness:

gas milage,

This is the second Jeep that I have owned, my other was a 1994 Wrangler S. I have owned both a 4 cyl and the 6cyl, and after having racked up 100,000+ miles on the 4 cyl before I sold it, the bigger engine is definately nice. The jeeps dont get great gas milage, but neither do a lot of other specialilty vehicles. And for anyone that thinks that this 4X4 cant perform, they need to go to driving school.....cause there is an actual art to offroading, its not just point the car and go. Jeeps are great, but know what you are getting into before you buy.....these are not Toyotas or Hondas (which is why I bought both of mine). And for anyone that has had problems....either you abuse it, or the person you bought it from did.

Very Good Offroad Capabilities Highly Customizable

Weakness:

Too Loud Too Small Poor Gas Milleage Lousy Ride Far Too Spartan Inside

I was pressured into this car by my father back when we bought it. I am 6'3" 250 lbs. The front seats of this car do not have enough room for someone of my size. My shin constantly hits the bottom of the dash and causes bruises. The placement of the cig. lighter is in a place that, because the seat area isn't wide enough, my knee always knocks out any adapters that I plug in. This car has had numerous problems. My dash lights would go out entirely for a while. The dealer told me that it was a known problem with the 99's and was able to fix it for $150 (why it wasn't covered by warranty, I do not know). The tires that came with it goodyear wranglers gsas were awfull. I got abou 14000 miles out of them. When I had a soft top I lost 2 stereos, so I bought the hard top. The hard top is much better in terms of insullation, but the car is still very loud. At 50000 miles my car began to shake almost uncontrollably whenever I would go over a bump. It turned out the stabilizer was broken. That in turn caused my intake manifold to break (luckily under warranty). The ride of Wranglers is very harsh. I would not recommend this car to anyone. I am very happy not having to drive it anymore and having moved on to something much more civilized.

This is the best vehicle that I have ever owned(out of 18). If you are thinking of getting a JEEP, DO IT!!! You will thank yourself later. The jeep handles anything you can throw at it on road or off.

Strength:

Very capable on the trails, great summer and recreational vehicles (I would say among the best)... offroading, camping, towing a boat, etc. Fun times with the soft top down.

Weakness:

Loud and bumpy highway driving, stiff suspension, low gas mileage

I've had a great time in the past year that I've owned my Wrangler. It's a lot of fun in the summer with the soft top off, has proven itself on the trails, good towing abilities, and has plenty of power for all practical purposes (I have the 4.0 inline 6). The Wrangler is at it's prime in the summer, or any time when theres nice warm weather, although its fine for whatever you need it for the rest of the year. It doesn't provide a real comfortable ride on the freeway, but its a Jeep, and wasn't engineered for that in the first place. Overall, its a fun and very capable vehicle.

To all you people complaining about power, get a 4.0 liter, performance exhaust, and cold-air intake system... that should shut you up. The add-on items are endless, it's like a freaking Transformer. #1 Strength = it's a Jeep!

Weakness:

Reliability. Never put wind noise, highway characteristics, or gas milage here. IT'S A JEEP!!! not a Lexus.......

Wrangler's are cool vehicles for many reasons but can be a pain as well. I love the way it looks, drives, and feels under the road but I've run into some reliability issues. I will always love it but get frustrated sometimes when I have to dump money into it to fix something when I could be spending it on one of the million accesories that you can add to them. But overall the pros far outway the cons and I love owning my Jeep. Nothing compares to this experience!

Before I bought my jeep I read about how bad it is on gas, noise, not for highway driving. Well I haven't seen any of that so far. It's not any worse than our 2002 shevy blazer, except that it doesn't have luggage room. I love this jeep! I drive it 100 miles a day to work and back, I don't have any complaints. I have been bitten by the jeep bug.
