Strength:

Quality and dealership service. Lexus replaced an immobilizer and key free of charge. This was over $1600.00 worth of parts. The few times I've visited Lexus in Mobile, I received the best service.

Weakness:

Turning radius is poor.

Tested many SUVs. Nothing comes close to the ride of a lexus. Power is good, craftmanship is tops, styling classic, quality # 1. Can't say enough. I'll buy the RX 400 in a few years.

Really good 4wd system.

Weakness:

Turns like a school bus - ridiculous. Not comfortable or fun. Service problems and costs - not what you expect from a Lexus. Dealers are condescending; love to rip you off. If your argue, they'll charge it to warranty and rip Lexus off.

Not impressed at all. This vehicle is grossly underpowered and not fun to drive. Every trip to the dealer finds something wrong: main oil seal, squeaky suspension (fixed twice still squeaks), engine lite keeps coming on, etc. Service prices are in the stratosphere. Front seat comfort is way below average.

New Stereo is horrible!!! Rattling at times. Lexus has still not corrected that turning radius issue!

Carol, Medford NJ I must say, oh my what an awesome SUV. I purchased the 4x4 of course(its an SUV why would someone wants a 4x2) with all the extras but no navigation. Was a bit turned off when I first saw the new RX. I had another RX300 (01) before this and loved it. The ride is great, dependability is key, good in snow, quick pick up, Plenty of "Looks" and more. Dealership is great and always has a loaner vehicle.

Strength:

Fun to drive, ok mileage (better than anticipated), sporty look, easier backing/parking with the camera in the rear. Don't know how I ever drove without a rear camera and navigation...it's become very addictive!

Weakness:

The only weakness is LONGO LEXUS at El Monte California. If their service department doesn't CONSISTENTLY screw up minor maintenance issues, I would enjoy the Lexus a lot more. Went in for svc only three times. The first time I went in for the 1000 mi service, they scratched my car at their car wash and reluctantly agreed to fix it after blaming me for doing it. Second time, told the service consultant directly not to wash the car, guess what, washed it again and this time I had their service guy as a witness. After talking to the svc manager, they said it was not documented when we called again to confirm their fixing the scratches as they agreed at the 5000 mi svc. Third time, they had us wait 30 mins (was it vengence?) to get our loaner car while everyone got their car who came after us. (I can't wait to go pick up my car tomorrow and see what drama I run into this time- yeah right!) The only thing the svc consultant said was 'they're getting the car for you now' after confronting the issue. No apology, no remedy (I asked for something that's readily available), just 'they're getting the car for you'!The sales went so well I thought their maintenance service was just as exceptional. Now, I literally cringe thinking about going to get my car serviced. Overall, I would say consider another dealer before even going to them because apparently when I emailed and complained to my Lexus driver/friends who services at Lexus, I found out that I was not an unique case. The dealership is very very disappointing! (I am not one to post reviews, but the last 3 experiences was the worst in my whole life. I hadn't ever had such bad or close to bad experience even with Honda, who's technically a less 'luxurious' class. I am so mad that I am writing to their corporate office tonight and want everyone else to know how horrible Longo Lexus is!)

The car drives ok. After 4500 mi, the wheel seems to be a little wriggly when driving fast. Enjoy the rear camera, navigation, and sporty look. The euro-suspension is not all it's claimed to be. Basically, it's nothing worth thrilling about. Based on my overall experience with the dealer and car, I would say I would have considered another car with no doubt.

Strength:

An improved car for the same price as the old one, the best dealer network in the business, usual attention to fit and finish that this brand is famous for, the best runabout for the money.

Weakness:

In keeping with the new trend for larger wheels like everyone else Lexus has opted for low profile tires. This compromises an otherwise great ride especially when on bumpy pavement which can produce a surprising choppy ride. They should make the the low profile tire an option for those who prefer looks over ride. Sooner or later Lexus needs to replace this old engine with one that is smoother more powerful and hopefully quieter. Here Nissen has shown the way.

I traded a perfectly good 2001 RX300 for my new RX330. There are many notable improvements. The ride has a heavier feel, more substandial. Its quieter, has more space up front. Improved memory seating which now includes side mirriors settings. They have increased the horse power but it's hardly noticable because its heavier. A five speed transmission vs the previous 4 speed. Overall more goodies for the same price and one of the reasons why I bought it. For me this was as much a financial transaction as a car purchase. The car cost me $4 more each month than my previous payment but the real reason for this move has more to due with the dollar than any great improvement in the car. If you haven't noticed lately the dollar is falling like a rock against the yen. Lexus hasn't changed the prices yet but in two years Japanese cars will be at least 20% higher. Meanwhile interest rates are still low and they will surely head higher when you know who is reelected. So if you're interested in a Japanese car, run do not walk to your nearest dealer.

Seating position. Good stereo system.

Weakness:

Gas tank too small. Transmission is really bad. Extremely hard shifting when car is cold. Rattle like cheap huyndai. Make too much noise with the sunroof open. Customer service is way over-rated. Maintainence and service is expensive.

Not a very good vehicle. Expected so much more from a Lexus. Very disappointed.

poorly shaped seats, and 18 inch wheels are too high for me. Should have drive it first. Our mistake.

What a disappointment, seats are hard, too high to get into, At 700 miles I gave up on it, and the dealer found us an RX 300, a 2003. It is great. Had an RX 300 for 3 years, it was the greatest car we ever had and we have had 54 cars.

Noise under dash.

This is my first Lexus and I will not buy another one. One of the tire was off balance on the day I bought the car. There is also a strange noise coming under the dash when driving under windy condition. But the dealer said no trouble found. I contacted customer service at Lexus but did not resolved the problem.

Has a quiet ride, excellent sound system, gets a lot of eyes, smaller than an '89 T Bird, fits in the garage with my John Deer, my wife is happy!

Weakness:

Lexus dealers think you're stupid, [ The 60,000 mile service is about $800.00 ] my Silverado gets almost as good fuel mileage, needs about 50 more horsepower, and I think I'm going to have work on this thing!

Although I've always thought they looked like an insect, my wife has wanted one since they came out.[ It had to the pearl white one ] She's had the car about 2 months now and she loves it.[ What's not to love? She had an '89 T Bird! ] Car has 40,000 miles on it and the dealer tells me all the break pads are down to about 25%-30%. Dealer price is about $450.00 not including machining the rotors. They're either crazy or they think the average Lexus owner is a complete moron. I got a set of premium pads at an import parts place for less than $60.00 and it's a 2-3 hour operation. The dealer wants $200.00 for a 2-volumn set of repair manuals. [ I winged my way through it ] I guess I was a mechanic too long to appreciate the move upscale to a Lexus. It's still a better quaility vehicle than my '01 Silverado extra-cab by a long shot. Show me a GM dealer who will warranty a USED vehicle for 100,000 miles?

Check engine light comes on about every four months. The dealer keeps saying it is a loose gas cap. They have replaced the cap and the ring twice to avail. When I replace the cap I make sure it clicks at lease five times. I don't think the dealer has a clue as to what the problem is.

Good in the beginning but the check engine light is a MAJOR weakness
