Strength:
Drives like a good solid sports sedan, like a goat off-road and outstanding in the snow. Good overall drive train and handling.
Weakness:
Rear design is poor. Has anyone found a good way to attach a "real spare" tire to this truck? Key weakness. The lack of an opening back window prevents even a swinging gate spare to be realistic. Overall very pleased with the truck. Drives like a good solid sports sedan, like a goat off-road and outstanding in the snow. Good overall drive train and handling makes it ok to overlook a few annoyances on the interior (compared to the luxury market). Yes the CD changer is a pain as are the cupholders (Germans don't use cupholders so don't understand). My reason for a 4 rather than a 5 is the backend design is poor. Has anyone found a good way to attach a "real spare" tire to this truck? Key weakness. The lack of an opening back window prevents even a swinging gate spare to be realistic. Why they could not have lenghtened it a few inches to load the spare where that stupid donut tire I will never know. |

Nice smooth ride. Great for taking on long trips.
Weakness:
The CD changer, located at the back section, is hard to reach. Having been used to an Isuzu Rodeo, this truck drives more like a car. It corners fairly well and noise level is quite low. Similar Products Used: Isuzu Rodeo 1997 |

Extremely smooth and quiet engine and transmission. Lots of power. Incredible Bose system. Seats. Amount of space for hauling. HANDLING!
Weakness:
Styling, maybe. But it is hard to get that much space behind the rear seat without giving it that boxy rear. Absolutely the most satisfying vehicle I have ever owned. I could not get comfortable in the Yukon after having the Mercedes. It satisfies on every possible level, and I am sold on the Mercedes Star. The dealership (Schumacher European) gets six stars out of five. They have spoiled me completely, and I only wish Mercedes made a pickup truck as well, because going to the Chevy dealer for service is a dreadful experience always. Hats off to you, Mercedes for your highest of standards. Similar Products Used: Full size Yukon, 1995. |

Strength:
Nice ride height, ample power, reliable engine, quick for an suv, "chick magnet", great sound system!
Weakness:
The pedal feel is awkward, 6-disk cd changer in trunk makes it impractical when swapping cd's, rear seat entry exit is tight, only thing reliable is engine, harsh ride, rattles too much, feels stiff when driving, low torque for what it is. Had to bring in for repairs a week after purchase. ie door handles falling off, seat belts not working. Paid about 50 grand for it because i had to pre order it, so price was higher. Not worthy of the mercedes name. Overall an unreliable car that spent more time in the shop than being driven. DO NOT BUY! GO LEXUS OR BMW OR FORD OR ANYTHING ELSE! Similar Products Used: None |

Ride comfort. Ladder frame construction, not bolt to body strong engine, lots of torque, tough looks.
Weakness:
CUP HOLDERS. I was told the Germans did not even want to put them in!!They were forced to. Forget about 16oz drinks. They spend their time on the rear floor. Through all the smear campaigns,This vehicle is tops. Consumer reports gave it an iffy rating based on reliability. Don't listen to it. If you are a discerning shopper and want the best value for the cost ratio, the ML-320 takes the cake. It is by far the best constructed TRUE suv on the market. The lexus is a car trying to be a truck. Power is very adequate, for a 6 cyl. My gas mileage has been around 22 mpg highway. Handling is great. Corners well. Love all the advanced 4 wheel drive embellishments. No regrets about not springing for the ML-430. Got the fully loaded version, M-1 and M-2 package. List was 41+K. paid 39.4K Similar Products Used: 1997 Jeep Grand.... Chevy Blazer. Test drove Lx300, Range rover, Discovery |

Rear folding seats and cup holders $ 56,000 Canadian with Cd changer, phone and heated seats. Went 4 x 4ing in 2 feet of snow and mud and with a full load of 4 adults and a 13 year old and a couple hundred pound of gear; no problem what so ever! If you are trying to decide between the RX300 and the ML; the Ml is WAY better! Similar Products Used: Lexus Rx300. Ml better looking, better ride and far superior |

Strength:
Sleek design, overall comfort
Weakness:
Lack of power. I had a Navigator previously and the Mercedes cannot compare in terms of power. I would recommend this product because of its efficient gas mileage in comparison to the SUV market. However, I think I will go back to the Navigator with my next lease. Similar Products Used: 1999 Lincoln Navigator |

The ride is very smooth and quiet, the car has lots of power, the sound system is awesome, the interior is comfortable and luxurious. It's a reliable, it's a Mercedes!!
Weakness:
There's just a few minor details like the size of the cup holders and the glove compartment. Alot of the stuff is plastic. For the price and the quality that comes with Mercedes, this is a great buy! There's power and 4wd for all you snow people, great SUV!!! Similar Products Used: 4 Runner, Pathfinder |

Weakness:
Not many, and these may be picky, cup holders need to be larger, glove compartment needs to also be larger, 6-CD changer located in the rear of the ML,The plastic bumpers are a little cheep looking for a Mercedes vehicle and they scratch easelly. Paid 41 Grand & change.I would highly recommend this vehicle.I first test drove the following, Expedition,Escalade and Navegator, the ML320.My first concern was room up front, I'm 6 foot 6 inches and the ML had them all beat hands down, the shoulder head and leg room are great. The ride comfort and handeling of the ML was simply the best, this ML rides nearest to a sedan then any other suv I test drove by far.I did not test drive the Lexus suv, some reviews say it has the best over all ride in suv's, but it doesnt have the room up front or a STAR on its hood!!! The ML looks much better also.PS I also took the new 420 S sedan out for a 20 minute drive "ALONE" did I have fun the 420s is simply breathtaking I was shaking when I got out of the car. 70'000 grand is alittle much for me but in 2 years when the first starmark 2000's become avalable ill be line for mine. Where do I start? Ride is excellent. The interior is simply beautiful. Paint quality and exterior design is great. Consumes less fuel than many other Suv's out there. All wheel drive. Bose system/ cd changer a must option.
Weakness:
I WISH THE ML HAD AUTOMATED CLIMATE CONTROL. I'm in the automotive industry and I've yet to see a vehicle built as well as a Mercedes Benz. I'm glad they took their time in building the M-CLASS. It was worth the wait!!!! Similar Products Used: TOYOTA 4 RUNNER LIMITED 1997. I've been a Toyota fan for many years but this ML is in a class of it's own. |
