Strength:
More than enough storage for gear. Very dependable and tough.
Weakness:
The only real complaint that I have (other then the gas milage) is about the bike racks. It''s too tall to place on top, the rear rack that fits in the tow hitch is in the way of the rear hatch and the internal rack requires the removal of the bike seat and front wheel. I''ve now got the internal rack and am slowly starting to like it more nad more! The other complaint is the dealership... Don''t purchase a vehicle from Barwick Nissan in Orange County. Other then the dealer lying and some initial problems with them, the truck is awesome. We use it to haul all of our camping gear, bikes, kayaks, you name it... Very solid, rugged and tough truck. Reliable, smooth driving, excellent handling. Interior is well layed out and functional. Exterior...well...it just looks really cool! I like the "beefy" styling - it looks like it should!
Weakness:
The stock tires that these trucks come with have got to go, particularly the BFG Long Trail''s. This truck should be coming from the dealer/factory with at least a decent set of A/T''s. (hint...hint...hint!) (Price paid as stated above is in Canadian$$) All I can say is that I LOVE this truck! As the commercial says, it has "everything I need, nothing I don''t!" This is a performer on road, handles well, corners well, and the V6 has enough power for me (hey if I wanted to go fast I would''ve bought a car!) Offroad this is also one awesome machine, even just in stock form. Similar Products Used: Nissan Pathfinder, Chevy S10, Jeep Cherokee |

Strength:
- Rev happy 195HP engine w/ Auto. - Smoothest Trans I''ve encountered - Honda''s grade logic transmission REALLY works !! - Beautifully sculpted sheetmetal. - No feel of understeer in most cornering applications. HANDLES Fantastically - Ride is fair (due to stiff suspension)
Weakness:
- if you''re a 6''0", you may ''not'' like the lack of easy entry/exit. - Rear suspension components have a nice ''clunking'' sound everytime u pass a pothole/speedbump. (nothing can be done to remedy issue). - Rear bumper and body ''gap'' tends to increase w/ time. Needs adjustment w/ Honda service. - EXPENSIVE BODY KIT (front/rear spoiler and side sills) - Paid too much w/o negotiating price of vehicle. Wonderful high revving VTEC 2.0L Engine. Enough HP for most occasions. Don''t expect 4 people to fit in this car, only 2 + a baby seat or pet. Interior is modest and generic w/ Honda''s typical dash setup. No strings attached.. Strength:
Very high reliability, I have not had a single problem with it in 3 years. Excellent visibility from the front and rear seats.
Weakness:
Handling is definitely truck-like. Ambient noise level is high. Gas mileage is not so great, though I probably average about 16-17mpg. Overall, it has been a good SUV for my purposes, which are to be fairly rough with my vehicle. If you need reliable truck capabilities in an SUV, this is a good choice. Looks, handling, the interior and exterior, 4x4 and sound system. The crumple zones are a great plus, I feel safer in this vehicle then I ever did. As far as gas mileage goes it is just what they said it would be and it doesn''t bother me.
Weakness:
None. I Love this car. I wanted one in 2000 when they first came out but at the time they were in demand and the price was a bit high for me, so I bought a KIA instead (big mistake) I drove my husband nuts because I wanted an xterra. I didn''t buy a 2002 because I don''t like the new front end as much as the old one and I got a solar yellow (it had to be yellow)we called everywhere and found one with only 6000 miles on it loaded with everything from the water proof seat covers, cd, hitch upgraded stereo system and sunroof. I love this SUV it drives great has alot of cool stuff and looks great! I drove a ford escape and for the price it was as bad as the KIA sportage. I would highly recommend this SUV to anyone looking to purchase one. Similar Products Used: KIA Sportage, Jeep Cheroke. |

Strength:
excellent 4x4 for the money , this is not a $40,000 Suv so dont exspect all of the top of the line goodies. I exspect to see 200k out of this one as well.
Weakness:
all that is above and a better sound system would help we also wanted to go into suv market, test drove all in its class and found xterra to be the best for its money.I have owned nissans before and had good luck with them, lasting into the 200k area with little problems. we are into our sixth month and no problems so far. Most of the problems you read are true , wind noise, worbble sound with back window down, gas mileage, useless sunroof and exterior plastic easy to damage. Above all that I find it to be a grate SUV and does every thing that its suposed to do and more. owners of the 3.3 tell me the mileage will improve after 15000 miles, and should get around 19 to 20 MPG. we just had 18 inches of snow and it worked perfect in the slush, and excellent controll over the road. I recomend getting the tow hitch, if for nothing else carring Bike and gas cans so the gas smell doesn''t get in the SUV. Im not to pleased with Central Nissan though, the service personal do not have the training to take care of small problems , just one of my problems were that they never taped off the truck for under coating (they say that they don''t) and coating spray was sprayed over trim package. I sent it back to have them clean it and do a touch up it came back even worse. |

Strength:
Nissans reputation for reliability. Looks really cool. Solid. Good road handling. Tight turning radius. Good torque for off-roading. Excellent interior space for both people and storage. I''m 6''-3" and it fits like a glove for me. "Stadium" seating in the back is great for kids to see out the window. Lots of tie-downs. Power mirrors are great because both my wife and I drive it and they are easy to change. Back opens up (not to the side). Spare tire is out of the way under the truck.
Weakness:
Don''t bother buying a SE with a sunroof. You have to remove the basket/wind deflector when you want to open it up. Some people don''t like that you have to be going 40km/h or less to shift into 4x4 but you shouldn''t be driving that fast anyway when you''re 4x4ing and if the roads are slippery you should have a clue about that before you leave your driveway. If you actually want to use the roof rack/basket you have to be a tall person or carry a step stool in the trunk. I am tall so it''s not a problem for me. I''m just speaking for all you vertically challenged people out there. The only real peave I have is with the bs service I''m getting from my dealership. I''d switch to another one but they are so far away. The price paid is in Canadian dollars. I bought my truck for such a good price (about $18,000 US) because it was a 6 month lease-back with 13,500 kms on it. Also, I understand, vehicles are cheaper here in Canada. This is a true truck on the same platform as the Frontier. You can feel the toughness and you ride higher than you do in a most other suvs. It''s very comfortable to drive and is very solid. It is a true off-road truck that performs excellent off-road as compared to other car-like suvs out there. They say the Xterra is not a luxury vehicle, but I say it provides above average luxury such as standard alarm, keyless remote entry, cd, ABS, pwr windows, etc... which suits me fine. You can''t get leather seats even as an option but it''s not that desirable in colder climates without heated seats. Unfortunately, the service at my dealership has a lot to be desired (too much BS). All in all I highly recommend the Xterra for people who''d like to have at least a little off-road fun. Similar Products Used: None |

Kinda wish i would have waited for supercharger, but hey, I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!(and yes it is a TRUCK!!) The day i got it, it has been turning heads left and right. The Solar Yellow is i think the coolest thing about the truck, its one of the few vehicles that can play the yellow color. Yes I read the sticker and I knew gas mileage wasnt the best,, but jeezzzz. I have the V6, it isnt the fastest truck, buit it can tow. I towed a 2000 Hyundai tiburon filled with items inside it andfilled the inside of X with stuff and had a full roof rack of items and had no problems from Iowa to Florida. even the mountain(hills rather) of Tenneesee were not a problem. I got a good deal on mine, bought a 2WD in a mainly 4WD market. They had to get rid of it, I played with the dealer for about a week. Did i mention I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!!! Power!! Has a lot of pep!! I was a little apprehensive about an SUV not being economical. However, after being crushed between a Ford F250 and a minivan, I figured I needed something bigger. I am very impressed with the smoothness of this vehicle. And it does not guzzle gas like I thought it would. I really love this vehicle! Similar Products Used: None |
