Strength:
Looks cool
Weakness:
Gas millage 12 or maybe 13 miles to a gallon. very poor handling, ride and comfort not there at all...rides like a pick-up truck. Seems like it will tip over on cornerer. No off road capabilities at all...not even on 2 inches of snow or even a little bit of rain. And ya, sun roof is just designed too badly. Super Charger or not, this vehicle is way too under powered. Going up a small bunny hill in snow is impossible even with 4x4 and super charged engine. Would not recommend to buy. Stay away, it's a gas guzzling monster that will eat you $$$ on repairs too. Have had it for 2 months and already been in the shop for fuel injection problems. Similar Products Used: Susuki samurai, toed 18 foot boat with it and drove it in snow for 8 years. Loved it. Got family so looked for a new veh. Exterra...big mistake. |

Strength:
Looks great, seats are great, tie downs and multi 12 volt plug-ins are very handy.
Weakness:
Very poor snow performance on all surfaces, from a plowed road to 6 inches of snow, front tires would not run straight, no grip at all. All service items mentioned above. I was thrilled to buy this vehicle, loved having other more pricier SUV owners ask me about it and compliment the nice looks. That ended quick. Would love to have the thing stolen. Over ten visits to garage; replacement of locking hubs (acting up again...heavy thunk as it shifts from 4 to 2 after about 5 miles driving), twice for A/C repairs, 3 separate visits to change injectors (#2,5 and 6, gas smell in cab), rust on back window (1 yr old!), twice for heat sheild adjustment / replacement, twice for emission control valves. Add in 3 return visits for corrections re: sloppy work (freon on floor, broken rear wash nozzle, cables unconnected, block plug left to hang under vehicle). Bought because we have a rough rocky road into our cottage but it drives very poorly in the snow. Currently the heat shield has 4 of 6 screws stripped and rattles like an old beater (too bad since I take excellent care of exterior and interior). Nissan will get this lemon back when lease is over. Strength:
Allright, enumerated below: 1. Comfortable Ride, smooth glide. 2. Very good sound system 3. Killer looks! 4. 4 interior 12 volt power outlets 5. Even with the heavy body(5000 lbs) the braking system is very effective.
Weakness:
1. Even with V6 SC i don't get the pickup that i expect. 2. Fuel Consumption, for commuting to office and back, little interstate little road, i barely get 14-14.5 mpg, the initial sticker said 15 & 18 but i think mine does 13-16 :( 3. Tilt up Moon Roof, well if you think its the tradition one then you are wrong, cuz of the curved roof, xterra offers a tiltup moon roof, but for that you need to remove the roof rack bucket thing, and many times the top-front Aleron/spoiler too. 4. Don't like the way 4x2 to 4x4 shifting works, they should do a better job at it. I love it, i moved from a 91 Isuzu Trooper to 2003 Xterra. After the initial aweee, i am down to being an impartial critique now. Lets see, Beautiful looks, rugged look, great charcoal interior(if you go for this one) very smooth ride, too good on bumps, it glides over the bumps on the road and feels great, good radius of turn(small radius so you can turn in given small area) love the roof rack, one dealer i went to started jumping on the side bars and invited me to do the same, i did so hesitantly, not to break anything but man its strong! Doors close with a woof(nice sound!, i LIKE THAT!) Overall a good buy with some cons which i will tell below. BTW i got top of the line Xterra(minus the leather seats, anyone got a spare 1000$ bucks?), here are the specifications: 2003 Xterra SE-SC V6 Automatic Transmission Granite Color, Charcoal Interior Brush Guard, Tow Package, rear light Guards(i'm getting into showing off now..) 17 inch Allow Wheels PS: Btw i took it to Snoqualmie Pass on Christmas Day(lots of skiing parking lots empty) did some doughnut acation(360-ing) .. within 20 mintues there were 5-7 SUVs, vans, even cars that joined in! REAL FUN! Similar Products Used: Hey don't ask me, 1991 Isuzu Trooper(what can i say :) ) |

looks,ok for the on road use to work and back but thats it as far as snow is concerned
Weakness:
just got it ,live in the snow, wont even climb my yard in 2 inches of snow you've got to be kidding,NOT...like others said it might be lousy tires, but more likely is the short wheelbase and lack of sufficient weight over the tires.am afraid of performance in the rain.it reminds me of the old cj jeeps for the turning ratio and sitting close to the rear wheels.might be returning to dealer for refund.(3 days to cancel contract and all)got it for snow season for its 4 wheel drive abilities . not just looking cool. also cheap interior, roof basket is a joke with sunroof use cool looking, power is adequete,if i wanted lots more power i would have bought the Dakota with a 4.7 v8, upgrade stereo is better than the stock one.needed the extra passenger room over the crew cab. used it first night with 4 adults and 1 12yr. old going out to dinner and the fit was much better than the crew cab would have been for sure Similar Products Used: nissan pick-up 2&4 wheel drive models longtime nissan user and rollover rebuilder, had them since the 1970s |

Strength:
Looks Awesome, GREAT IN SNOW. An SUV that does not drive like a car. I hate that. It drives like a truck, and that's what I want.
Weakness:
The only down sides to the car are" Gad Mileage, it just sucks, and the rear seat cusions have to be removed to put down the seats. That is stupid. Also don't bother geting a sunroof. It is only a pop up and to open it you have to remove the basket from the roof rack. Also a stupid design, but since I don't have one. I didn't care. I test drove a 4 cyl Xterra in 2002 and hated it, not nearly enough power, I walked right away. In 2003 I decided to give it another chance, mostly because I liked the looks. I test drove it, then drove it off the lot. The V6 has enough power. Not tons, but I am not towing or off roading. I have had it for just over a week and just got a ton of snow, it handled GREAT. Cut thru the snow no problem. All in all I am REALLY happy with it. Similar Products Used: Toyota 4Runner Chevy Blazer Jeep Pathfinder |

XE V6 Automatic
Strength:
1. Looks. In my opinion, best looking SUV on the road. 2. Price. Got a great deal. 3. Audio. Standard radio has GREAT sound. The only difference I heard in the standard and the RF 300 Watt upgrade was in some bass...If you can live w/o a 6 disc changer, don't bother to upgrade. you will be paying for the name.
Weakness:
1. Automatic Transmission switches gears too quickly, which causes some power loss. 2. WOW! Not only looks tough, but drives suprisingly well. Great handling. |

A/C is powerful, along with the six disc in dash Rockford Fosgate system. Leather seats are comfortable, along with all the power outlets.
Weakness:
one weakness of course is the gas mileage, but that would be all. Overall, this SUV is at the top of the list for me. The 210 hp supercharged engine is great. The mileage is typical, and all the extras are fantastic. This is the first leather edition, and I must say, "you gotta have it." Similar Products Used: Toyota 4 runner, 1995. |

Strength:
Looks good and seems to be very reliable. Has been a popular SUV lately.
Weakness:
GAS MILEAGE, GAS MILEAGE AND GAS MILEAGE!!! Underpowered too!! Overall, a decent TRUCK. Yeah, it's an SUV, but it rides like a Frontier. Ditto on the CRAP FOR GAS MILEAGE!! Each gas fill-up is about 16 gallons and that gets me about 240-260 miles(and 80% of my 10-mile commute is interstate highway). This is a few-frill SUV. I have an SE 4x4(top of the line) and it still feels like a lot of corners were cut to keep costs down. The 170hp engine is about 40-50 short of what it should be! Sure, a 210hp is offered, but it's more expensive both in up front costs and even worse gas mileage. WORKING 0N GETTING RID OF MY GAS-GUZZLER AND PICKING UP A TRAILBLAZER! |
