This has been the worst car I've ever owned. We have replaced suspension parts, 4 way flasher switch 3 times( the service manager told me i was pushing the button too hard),brakes and now transmission is shot with only 58,000 miles.
Gas mileage was very poor - 16 - 18 mpg.

NOT so happy, I am on a first name bases with the dealership service department I just say it's me again. I visit once or twice a month and still nothing is fixed? Is it me? I liked the car over all but not the problems What is up with the noises the steering wheel, the knocking from underneth. I should have read all these reviews before I bought mine (stupid).

Power and Pick-Up.
Styling and NO blindspots.
Space and versatility.

It seems like this review page is for all the "negative nelly's." Well, not here!
I absolutely LOVE my VUE! With the polymer panels that are dent/ding and rust resistant (which is great up here in Buffalo) to the Honda engine to the ONSTAR for one year I have absolutely NO complaints!
Even if I did have some problems, you know what? It's a car, it's a machine, stuff happens, it's inevitable. But with my bumper-to-bumper and extended powertrain warranty I have full confidence that my vehicle will be taken care of until the day I reluctantly trade it in.

Poor Gas Mileage

I have been back many times and had the car in to be checked 4 times. They claim that 20 ~ 21 mpg. is within their standards. I bought it due to promises of around 28 mpg.
Since they feel there is nothing wrong with the poor gas mileage, I would like them to take the car back in trade for something that will get better gas mileage they are unwilling.
It was driven by them twice and they got 24 & 26 mpg. I'm not sure how, I've never been in that range - ever

Strength:

Can comfortably seat five grown people.
The built in fog lights have helped during winter fog.

Weakness:

I have had to take this Saturn to the repair shop more than any of my previous Saturns.

I have been purchasing Saturn vehicles since 1993, and after this most recent purchase of a 2003 Saturn VUE, I will never again purchase a Saturn. I have taken the vehicle in several times for various recalls. I took the VUE to the dealer for CV boot repairs. First they put on the wrong parts, then put the right parts on upside down. I thought they were being nice when they would provide me with a free wheel alignment for my troubles. Five months later, when my new tires were thread-bare, I learned from my tire dealer that the cambor/caster was not correct. I took the VUE in twice because the rear window wiper would not work, and the dealer said there was nothing wrong mechanically - the blade needed to be changed. Most recent is the transmission problem that left my teenage daughter stranded on I80. Saturn said that since I am 5000 miles over the warranty, I am to pay the $5000 repair bill. While working on the transmission I was notified that the water pump is going out. I cannot wait until I can get rid of this vehicle.

Strength:

Great on gas. Easy to drive. Nice design.

Weakness:

Poor manufacturing of stick shift/transmission.

I bought my Saturn Vue in 2005...one year later, the stick shift broke while driving. Just started moving around freely after a sick "crunch" when I shifted into 4th. Saturn fixed it and gave me a rental during the process. Great service. Last night, the stick shift broke again, almost to the year of the last breakage. I am going in today to get it fixed again. I've had the VUE for 2 years and two stick shifts have broken off in as many years. I've bought Saturn vehicles since 2000 and I have to say that this latest vehicle is very disappointing. Other than the stick shift, it runs perfectly...I just don't think anyone should have to put up with such obvious poor manufacturing.

Looks good.

Weakness:

Engine Noise
Wind Noise.
Does not feel sturdy on the road.

I am having problems with what I feel is the transmission. The engine vibrates when switching from one geer to another. I am so frustrated as twice I have brought it in and twice I have been told that there is nothing wrong. I keep being told that these new cars are "smart" and if there is anything wrong they will tell me. I am so disappointed and wish that I never bought the vehicle. It is under warrenty but it doesn't look like a good start for a car that is only 6 months old. At this point all I can do is wait for a major problem to occur and have them repair it under warrenty. Again this is very frustrating and I feel I should have stuck to the German cars I have been driving all my life.
