None. I want my cars to last at least 4 years.

Weakness:

VTI transmissions. Saturn's Customer Assistance Center is not very helpful in resolving their known defects.

HELP!!! HELP!!!!

I am also the stressed out owner of a saturn vue with a transmission problem. When I first took it into the Saturn Service Center they also could not find a problem. They gave me a list of $1800.00 dollars worth of work that could be done, but no transmission problem could be detected. Three short weeks later when I took it back with the same problem, they said I had an internal failure. I would love to hear any resolutions Saturn has offered others. I have already called the Customer Assistance line and am not happy with the resolutions made. My first quote was a $6900.00 price tag. Then it went to $5300.00 and finally to $4800.00 in repairs. I don't even owe this much on the vechicle. I would love to hear from others. I'm hoping Saturn will do better with a trade-in. It would help me greatly if anyone can let me know if a trade-in was a better deal. I have had excellent up keep with this car, everything including all oil changes were serviced at the dealership.

Strength:

My resolve to get rid of this piece of junk - even though it means extra debt.

Weakness:

My lack of judgement in buying a GM product.

Sorry to be redundant. My Vue's transmission went out in April 2005 and left me and my two children on the side of I95. Saturn in Savannah GA replaced it and rented a car for us which was great. It took a week to get the part in so I couldnt pick my Vue up on the way home and had to make the 12 hour round trip the next week to pick it up. Sooo, 13000 miles later - the second transmission went out and Saturn replaced it again - telling me that this transmission was the upgraded one. I reminded them that the last replacement was the upgraded one. Now at 65000 miles a module in the computer dealing with the emissions is kaput. I can't get the inspection (required in NC) until it's fixed. Saturn of Asheville will only charge 1/2 labor (a savings of 200.00). The cost of replacement is 806.00. I cannot put another dime into this unreliable car. I'm hoping that Saturn will give me top dollar for a trade in since I could not ethically, morally or with any good conscience sell this lemon myself. I have to say, I am only slightly hopeful that Saturn will do the right thing and will repost if they do. I've also replaced the right front wheel bearing - 386.00 and have always had the scheduled services performed.

Strength:

1) Aerodynamic wedge-shaped design
2) Reasonable entrance price - made more reasonable with low lease rates
3) Excellent dealership; friendly, competent staff - best I have ever met in over 30 years of car ownership. NOTE: The staff are not at fault for the manuafacturer's various problems and I am ceetain it is difficult for them when their customers express their concern with the Saturn VUE product.

Weakness:

1) Poor re-sale value
2) Unreliable transmission (for 2002, 2003 and 2004 models)
3) Loud cabin noise on the highway

My 2003 VUE's transmission stopped cold on a main thoroughfare - after a big bang under the hood, after 3 years and 77,000 km. Luckily the drive train was still under warranty (up to 100,000 km).

I subsequently researched this year of VUE and found out that the transmission in the 2002, 2003 and, I believe, 2004 models has had "big problems" with the transmission similar to my own. I can't get out of my lease and the vehicle is, to my mind, worthless. I had intended to purchase the vehicle outright after the lease expired, but there is no way I will do that now.

To get the Saturn VUE owners back, (i.e. those who have lost faith in the product), I recommend that Saturn/GM give special incentives to the people who have had big problems with their vehicles. A transmission failing at 77,000 kms does not instill confidence in the vehicle - particularly with many other VUEs having this (automotive, industry-wide, known problem).

Unfortunately, Saturn/GM is not offering any special incentives to us VUE owners so-afflicted. FOR SHAME!!!! A $2,000 to $3,000 incentive to get us (so-afflicted) VUE owners to buy one of these vehicles is definitely in order. It would go a long way towards re-instilling confidence in the Saturn VUE product.

Liked handling in snow and height. Like the cargo space and split fold down seats. Love my sun roof.

Weakness:

Cheap interior-learn as they go service departments-GM involvement! Problems and noises. Uncomfortable rear seats-small leg room for adults. Side windows fog easily.

Where to begin? Loved it in the beginning...could've spent a little more for a Honda or Toyota, but Saturn had a good American Rep-who knew that letting GM get involved with design practice would destroy the Saturn reliability name? Noise, windshield washer failure, peeling paint, several suspension changes, doors that rattle so badly that I wanted them to be replaced,Rusty components, brake problems, and now engine module problems. Beware Saturn vue owners this too is a common problem. In October of this year I was on a road trip-all of a sudden the car service light, security light and various electrical problems plagued my vue. After coming home it was diagnosed by Firestone who referred me back to the dealer for the engine/body module. Saturn told me that it couldn't find anything wrong...there's a surprise. I continued to drive the car, with various lights and electrical things blanking out. With increasing problems I took the car to a local-well known garage who also diagnosed my Vue with this problem. Guess how? The mechanic found had a camaro that did exactly the same thing years ago. He stated that this problem was typical GM. Today after having my car for two days-this crappy module would not program. I am now forced to bring this expensive piece of junk to another dealer. I am told that this other dealer will be able to fix it. I no longer am in warranty...if this problem is a GM disaster that they are known for...it should be free. Needless to say, I have been advised to get rid of this car by many friends and mechanics. I will be buying that foreign car...and more good news Vue owners. Depreciation is extreme on these junky impersonators of quality. I am a nurse in one of the largest hospital systems in the country...I am on a personal mission to make sure that my opinion of Saturn's quality is shared with as many people as possible! Let's see 8+pts per day x 365 days per year. Oh the wrath of a car owner scorned!

Transmission problems - car will just stop on the highway

This is the second time that my transmission has had to be replaced in 6 months - GM has extended the warranty on the transmissions to 5 years, but they are putting the same junk back into the car that they are taking out it appears to me. I would never buy a Saturn again. I bought a second car from Saturn because I was so impressed with their service, etc. Never again.

Strength:

Other than the door panels cracking, it has been a good car - good power, performance and plenty of space.

Weakness:

Polymer panels - I understand they plan to discontinue these on future models. Could there be a reason for this?? With the run around I got from Saturn/GM over this issue I will not be purchasing another Saturn/GM product.

It would seem that this is an SUV better suited for warmer climates. I have 67,000 km's on the vehicle and both rear passanger doors have cracks in them - I'm told by Saturn caused by something hitting the door when it is cold. The crack does not show up immediately but does eventually appear. Funny I remember a commercial showing kids playing road hockey and using a Saturn as the back stop for the goal??

Weakness:

Interior could use a redesign.

We purchased the Saturn Vue about 3 years ago. The vehicle has served us well. We travel from NC to NY about three times a year. We find it a comfortable ride for a family of three plus a dog. Storage is adequate. Gas mileage is decent for a SUV (about 25 mpg). Out of the "cheaper" end SUV, I think that this is a good find.

Strength:

It was reliable for me. It was shiny, had a good heater and heated seats. Good acceleration.

Weakness:

The ride. The cheapness of the inside.

I was so excited to get it. It was an SUV after all, and I got a red one. Beautiful. Lots of people asked me about it...in the beginning. Then, the way it drove, it was like a truck. Really. I didn't want to feel bad about the car, but after a year, I wanted to trade it in. The transmission would shift and then readjust-ver disconcerting. And it didn't feel 'put together". It felt cheap. So last week, I turned it in ( for a Subaru Outback), and really, it never did anything wrong, I just was disappointed in the ride, and the feeling of it. Only 19,000 miles in 3 years, but the deppreciation! I lost $.
P.S. My family did NOT like it.

- quality/workmanship

Have a love/hate relationship with this truck. I like the truck - it's size, comfort, styling, cargo room, the way it rides, etc. Hate the workmanship and sub-grade parts.

At 20,000KMs had the rear bearing replaced, had a fuel sensor replaced around that time as well, at 90,000KMs had to fix stabelizer bars and rotors.

The front end is very loud, wind noise is prevelent and the paint is starting to peel in little bits on the back lid.

I think GM has covinced me to buy an import next time.

Strength:

None that I can tell so far.

Weakness:

Everything that I can see so far. Specifically: Front end, wheel wells, doorsleaking, no service, bad warranty, windshield washer nozzles, touchy electrical system, tires are too big for wheel wells but any smaller and the ride would be terrible.

I have had problems with the vehicle since I bought it. I was told there would be service widely available but even a flat tire couldn't be fixed except at a saturn dealership. I am living in Northern Alberta off and on which is a mistake with this vehicle and I think with any saturn as the Gm repair people just shrug their shoulders and tell you to take it to Edmonton which is a few hours away. The engine light came on and i was told by road side assist to go ahead and drive it which leads me to believe the engine light coming on means nothing really. It is not even good in deep snow, the wheel wells on my vehicle have been torn up since the first winter I drove it. I was told by Saturn that it was not meant for off road so the wheel well damaged was not covered under warranty. "BUT I DIDN"T GO OFF ROAD". The front end makes terrible noise.
The sway bars had to be replaced, not because they are broken or worn but because they are seized. Is this not a design flaw? I have gottn no satifaction from Saturn and definitely no help from GM. I am at the point now where foreign vehicles look attractive. I definitely wouldn't recommend buying this vehicle, even the newer models because the service is just not there. I couldn't even get my oil changed anywhere else because I was told a special tool was required. Oh yeah my door leaks at times to. i have also replaced the windshield washer nozzles (just after I bought the vehicle). I am at the point where I am questioning how they can even legally sell this vehicle to people.
