Strength:

Good in deep snow: my road is plowed late. Also good in case of accident: I was rear-ended on the highway by a car which was pushed into my vehicle by another car. They both had extensive damage; I had to replace the bumper because it had been 'depressed' by the impact.

Weakness:

Serious design flaw in the electrical system. Sensitive unit like the CCU is situated on the underside, exposed to loose gravel, mud & water from roads. Should never be taken on gravel & beware of mud puddles or road work otherwise you should be ready for expensive repairs.

As a second time Saturn owner I am extemely dissappointed with this vehicle. I live in the country & need a reliable vehicle to get me down country roads rain, shine or snow. In the past month this vehicle has cost me approx $5000 in repairs to the electrical system (more than 1/2 of it's black book value). It started with the gas guage reading incorrectly & over the next month the dealer worked on the vehicle multiple times for a total of approx 40 hours & ended up replacing the fuel sensors, both CCU's, the battery & fuses & did extensive re-wiring . It felt like a lesson in trial & error with the dealer calling Saturn for instructions on what to try next & then lecturing me on the underside of the vehicle being too muddy. (It's driven on gravel roads - of course it gets dirty - as did my old SL1 which had no problems for 10 years of the same roads.) According to one call from the dealer, the vehicle has major design flaws that caused the system to short out (during the repairs - it was working OK except for the guage & driven in between their sessions on it). Saturn says that the dealer did nothing wrong to cause the wholesale system failure, so I can only conclude that this vehicle is a design debacle. I got the old fuel system CCU from the dealer & it was muddy (on all six sides)& pitted from the gravel roads on the underside. It appears that this sensitive system is put where it is exposed to the road & the elements. If you need a reliable SUV & you don't live downtown on paved roads or drive stay away from the VUE - I'm now in the market for a reliable 4WD or AWD & this is definitely not it.

Strength:

Good acceleration. No major problems. Okay gas mileage, but not as good as it could be (we get about 30 on hwy and 26 in the city). The AWD works well and we have never been stuck in the snow/mud any time with it. (we even pulled my father's pickup out of a snowy ditch with it once - it handled that fine)

Weakness:

Noisy front end.
Roof leaks.
No local mechanics to work on it. (GM will not touch it for warranty work or recalls)
Peeling paint

Overall, our Saturn has been reliable and has suited our needs. But that said and done, we are generally disappointed in our Vue. We originally bought the Saturn because of it being a GM product and it's superior safety ratings. But with the continuous little problems, it doesn't seem worth the money.

We have 70,000 km's on the Vue and it is has a really noisy front end. We got the front end looked at and the mechanics said there is nothing wrong with it - that it is just noisy. But every time we hit a little bump in the road it sounds like the front end is going to collapse.

We have also had a lot of problems with our roof. Every time there is a hard rain, the roof leaks along the side of the roof. We took that back to Saturn to fix but they couldn't get it to leak. We hoped they could fix it on warranty, but if they can't find the problem, they can't fix it. So for now we put up with the soggy roof, because the warranty has now expired.

We are also very disappointed with the service we have on the vehicle. We live in Northern Alberta and we were told by Saturn that the vehicle could be serviced under warranty by any GM dealership. They were wrong on that. When there was a recall the GM dealerships would not fix it unless we paid for the repair and parts ourselves. We had to drive our Saturn to the nearest dealership (a five hour drive) to get the recall done on our vehicle.

We have also noticed that the paint is starting to peel on the rear door. It isn't much now, but I wonder how bad it will get in the future. On one of the side bars besides the windows the edge of this bar is starting to rust. So much for polymer panels!!

After viewing a lot of other reviews about this vehicle, I am definitely not going to buy another Vue. And I would never recommend buying one to anyone.

Exterior styling, no haggle pricing, friendly staff, pricing, great driving in snow.

Weakness:

Shocks are squeaky like an old bed! Reliabiliy is low, gas mileage similar to a truck, poor quality in materials, Saturn mechanics need to learn a new philosophy...."Fix it right the first time".

We bought our VUE brand new in May/02. Within the first 2 months we had the SES light come on. Dealer said it was just a fluke. Light came on again within a month, dealer replaced a thermostat. Since then we have had 3 thermostats replaced, countless windshield fluid nozzles, stablizer linkage, oxygen sensor, new rotors (wore down at 48,000 kms) and we've had the steering column "greased" 4 times to keep the squeaks at bay. Oh, and I forgot to mention the oil leak...dealer had to replace a gasket. It is frustrating to have such an unreliable vehicle. This is our 2nd Saturn...we also own a 2004 ION 3 which we've had absolutely no problems with. The dealer was good in the beginning but now I sense they are reluctant to see us coming in for more repairs. THANK GOD we had the good sense to purchase the 7yr/160,000KM extended warranty...it has already paid for itself! The vehicle now has 76,000KM and we are looking to sell it and buy a Toyota RAV4.

Safety, value initially, comfort, stylish

Weakness:

transmission, service, resale value, mechanical issues,

I bought the Vue just after my wife had had been in an accident which totaled her Camry, I was a bit freaked out and wanted the safest car I could afford. The Vue may have been that but in other respect I'm sorry I made the purchase. The VTI transmission stated having symptoms of a problem at 12,000 mile and the dealer replaced it with no fuss at all. a year or so later we started having the same symtoms and this time they will not acknowlege the problem, it's actually worse than when they replaced the tranny origionally. We have had it in two or three times for the same problem and they say it work fine for them, it an intermittant problem and they can't find it. The steering column squeeks, we have not taken time to get it fixed yet. The check engine light comes on for no reason. overall acceleration is good 90% of the time then one out of ten times it leaves you in harms way ( trasmission issue?) Considering a new car as our extended warranty will expire soon and they hav enot fixed problems anyway. I hear real good things about the 2006 6 cyl Vue but to be honest it's scarey to consider another after the last experience. I was real ticked when about 12-18 months after we bought ours, they were selling them for about $8,000 less, trying to get rid of vehicles they knew were junk I think.

47,000 when purchased, did not find these problems durng normal test drive. VTI Transmission Stinks - AWD is not worth a ***** front wheels spin in gravel uphill and rear wheels never quite have any pull. Rattles and Noise from everywhere. Very Noisy car!!! Saturn says to bring it in for warranty, thank goodness the tranny is warrantied for 75,000 miles. In reverse on a small grade, car will not back up, tranny slips and no power? 4 cyl. has good power and overall pleased with 0-60 time. Good Gas mileage and Good Room. Otherwise STAY AWAY FROM THESE CARS!!!! I will never buy another, you get what you pay for though, cheap price for a cheap car.

Strength:

1. Appearnce 2. Handling 3. Over all drivablity 4. I got a Honda 3.5 250hp drive train and didn't spend 45k to get the Acura MDX it came out of.

Weakness:

1. I wish it were a mid-sized SUV as I needed the space, but didn't want a minivan. I'm eagarly awaiting the '07 Saturn OUTLOOK mid-sized crossover SUV. 2. This version of the Honda 3.5 engine is a thirsty beast...okay I got a lead foot. 3.It needs a chrome wheel package.

At the 6100 mile mark, I'm wondering if a I got a cream puff of a vehicle or what!!I've read so many negative views about the Vue, that I started to second guess my purchase. And then common sense kicked in. If you want a Range Rover 4.6HSE, don't buy a Saturn. If you want a "reasonably" reliable vehicle, then the Saturn REDLINE VUE might be worth considering. I've owned a total of 4 Saturns: each loaded with all the goodies, and each vehicle had its "mechanical idiosyncracies" - the 1992 SL2 had Alternator and battery issues, the 2000 LS2 had alignment and tail light issues. All vehicles have them, and when they make mechanically perfect vehicle, I'll buy one. As for the REDLINE VUE, I like the way it looked, the way it seemed handle better than a regular Vue, and the thought of knowing that I'm not driving a "me too" Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. I got the ebony interior, which looks much better than the standard interior, a few dealer add accessoires and I'm really happy with the purchase. My dealer experience with the first place I visited left a lot to be desired. However, the Saturn of Thornton Road sell Saturns the way I remember buying them: no pressure, no haggling, no fuss. Caveat: carefully check your invoice: the finance add ons can be slipped in on you very unexpectingly.(I've got $600.00 worth of gap coverage that I really don't need). Overall, the only regret is that I wished I'd purchased a black one, because the black just has a presence my silver one can only imitate.

Loved the vehicle initially. After 3 months had problems with check engine light and noise in steering column. Was told by dealership that the light was just an error message and not to worry. They greased the steering column. Didn't work. Brought the vehicle in again and they ordered parts to repair. Turned out this was a recall. Later had problems with creaking noise in front right of vehicle. Was told it was nothing and they greased. Brought in again and was told it was fixed. As I drove out of the dealership the vehicle made the same noise. Left the vehicle and was told that the U joints needed replaced. Various other check engine lights would come on, i.e., if the car was in park for several minutes. I had to turn vehicle off, then on to get the light to go out. Told again that it was no problem. Now have ratting noise coming from exhaust. I brought the vehicle in, waited 1 hour, then was told a part was ordered. Came in the next day, waited 1 hour, then was told that all of the parts didn't arrive. Brought in again and was told vehicle was fixed. Drove home and heard the same noise. Told to bring vehicle in again and leave for 2 days to diagnose. Heard nothing after first day, on second day was told that they duplicated the noise and would have to replace a major part of the muffler. The part won't be in for a few days. This is my 4th Saturn. I had no problems with the 3 other vehicles. I will never buy a Saturn vehicle again!

Saturn Dealership== Royal Automotive in Alabama, avoid at all costs.

The dealership experience was horrible. I drove 300 miles to purchase the veh, because it was the specific model and year I wanted. I was in contact with the saleman 2 weeks in advance. I was pre-approved, and even put a deposit to hold it. In other words did everything he asked. When I got there I did my walk around, test drive. All good. Then the salesman kept me there for 5 hours, telling me there were glitches in the computer, blah blah. Said that it would be better if I got a loan from them, to move everything along. I was tired, and did not want to go home empty handed--long drive. I did what he asked, ended up with 1% higher interest, yes I didn't read the print. When I got home, I read the paperwork the next day. I was pissed. Bait and switch. It was Sunday. Nothing I could do. Monday I was on the phone, and he sent me to finance, finance sent me back. The run around. All from a dealership that is supposed be owned by a "Christian". Yeah right.... Other than that our Vue is great! Great ride, handling, gas mileage, the works. We got a 4 clyinder, which although I had heard it was under powered is not. Plenty of get up and go for highway and city driving.

Nice Power, full on features. Good traction in deeper snow.

Weakness:

Read above summary. Plus handles poorly compared to some other small SUVs

One word can sum it all up, "Problems" To detail it: 1. rear lift gate latch didn't work. Sturn replacedlatch, still didn't work, replaced rear electrical harness, than it worked. 2. very very annoying squeak from streeing column. Saturn greased shaft, failed to fix it, then replaced SIR coil, failed to fix it, the replaced entire stearing column, and finnally, it still squeaks. Mechanic told me it can't be fixed. 2. clunking from right front suspension. Saturn repired recalled parts from right rear axel and said clunking was fixed, clunk remained, brought it back in, the replaced steering column, said it was rettling, still clunked. Third time, told mechanic that I insist he check the right front suspension, he discoverd a bad strut. Only had 3000mi on car when clunking began, took until 8000mi for mechanic to find problem. 4. problem with mechanics, either they are incompetent and diagnosing and repairing problem, or they just don't care to fix the cars correctly the frist time. Only reason I bought a Saturn versus another SUV was the ease of purchase, and the total lack of pressure from the sales reps. However, I will never buy another Saturn, nor reccommend one to anyone.

I love my Vue. It has been dependable and economic to drive. I have had no problems with my Vue and it is as tight and roadworthy as the day it rolled out of the lot. @ 45,000. miles I did have to have the bushings replace in the front, but geez after 45k thats no big deal. Saturn of Warren here in Metro Detroit is an awesome dealership both sales and service. I am sorry some of your experinces have not been good but I can say mine has been the best!!!
