Strength:

Beautiful truck, the Red Rock interior is incredible.

Weakness:

Navigation is HORRIBLE..... Don't buy it or the factory remote start. They are garbage

Love the vehicle, HATE the navigation and factory remote starter. Gas milage is less than expected, barely getting 14 MPG city or highway.

Strength:

Roomy, Comfortable

Weakness:

Awkward/Confusing Controls, Noisy, Draws fumes

What's all the hype? I find this vehicle roomy and comfortable, but very frustrating! Ignition is great, no holding the key. Climate controls are okay. Defogging the windshield seems to be difficult. Controls, at steering column & elsewhere, are awkwardly placed and frustrating to understand & use. Beware, the power outlets all go dead when the car is turned off; no charging while you're away. Seats are easy to move once you get use to their method. Oddly enough, we could not get the rear spoiler with the moonroof we wanted. This brings me to the most annoying thing about this luxury vehicle. The noise & odors are ridiculous when opening windows. The rear gate window is adjustable. But, don't open it when you accelerate! You will suck fumes for a while. Open the side window(s) and you get a loud annoying pulsating noise. And with the moonroof open it sounds like your outside at a major airport. The ride is nice, but guzzles to gas.

Weakness:

Gas. Thats it!

Just picked her up after researching the 4Runner. I made the last second decision to pick up the Sequoia because I saw it and WHAM! Fell in love with it. Im a single guy who has had (and still does) sports cars and bikes and just wanted a cool Vegas cruiser. This rig rocks! I read allllllll the negatives from all the web sites. Spent 6 hours one long night and several hours on several nights picking and searching all the "goods" and "bads". Im am somewhat versed on driving and capabilities in driving that I thought I'd share my experience. Many people will say, "Oh this is the best car Ive ever had!" Or some other crap because THEY BOUGHT IT! Of course human nature is gonna kick in and everyone thinks they "gotta a great deal" and "it rides so smooth!" Well this is an unbiased, swear to God review. Im a retired G.I. (23 years Air Force) and I will give ya the no bull review. First Impression: A Large,Cheap Land Cruiser! Second Impression: Thump goes the door! What a solid sound! Third Impression: Sound of engine upon starting was awsome. After letting er' warm up, I was off. Comfy seating, controls at great reach, and smooth movement. Ive had many, many new cars. They all ride smooth at first. This one carressed the pavement. Excelleration kinda scared me. Just touching it and it OVER REACTED! Not a good thing when it shoots forward just by tapping the gas at green. Gas milage sucks but that'll teach ya to keep it slow! Room? No need to elaborate other than YES! Very versitile. Move second row forward and walah! You got Limo for third row! Rear height adjustment also rocks! Push a button and your rear end is up or down! I have the 2nd row with console and Captains chairs. Friends love it! Lastly, the steering is nimble and responsive. All in all? Handles most awsomely!!!! I payed chump change for this going through Costco. I put 20 grand down and my payments are 2 and change a month. I installed a spoiler on rear, tint, dash cover, rubber Sequoia mats and wood dash cover all from e-bay. I get many compliments. Plus major respect at 4 way stops! Buy this SUV!

Strength:

Rides well, lots of room, fits a family of 6 comfortably

Weakness:

The fact that it broke completely down after 7800 miles is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! Loved it until then! SCARY-glad the 4 kids were not in the car at time of breakdown.

At 7800 miles, water pump broke lose, coolant drained out of radiator, car made a horrible sound and came to a stand still in rush hour traffic. Dealership replaced water pump & radiator-no coolant found in spark plug tubes or in the oil, however I have a grave concern re:the possible damage to pistons inside of motor. No way to tell unless engine motor is completely taken apart. BE CAREFUL that this doesn't happen to you!

Strength:

Roominess, center consol is nice with notepad holder, and removal of seats is nice.

Weakness:

I have a constant vibration at 58-80MPH which is visable in the passenger seat and felt in the driver seat floor board. Taken to dealership 5 times now, been road forced 4 times, alighned two times, and new tires all the way around the vehicle, problem still not solved and dealership doesn't know what is wrong. Also, paid for stearing sensor in Jan 2004 ($300) because TRAC light was one. Light came one again in June 2005 but dealer claims it is master cylinder sensor now for $920, none is covered by warrenty. Also, it seems that bright lights won't stay on when these sensors malfunction. Have noticed rotten egg smell when rear window is down.

My mother has a 2001 Sequoia and loved it until recently, by the time she fell out of love I had already purchased mine used in August 2004. Love the room and all the seats for road trips and taking the office gang to lunch.

Strength:

Solid construction, smooth handling, quiet interior, incredible shape, JBL 10 speaker system is awsome and I am a stereo enthusiast. I have always been one to replace the stock stereo, but on this one I have had no need too.

Weakness:

The only bad thing that I have found is that when I replaced the wheels with after market TRD wheels, I cant get rid of the vibration. I have had them balance three times and had Discount Tire's Road Match Balance and still it vibrates at certain speeds. I was told by the dealership, that Toyota's are just extremely sensitive to balancing. I had a Tundra with the same problem. If anyone could help me here as to how to get rid of this problem it would be great appreciated. Gas milleage is also horrible 14-18. However, after reading reviews of the small SUV's MDX, Pilot and Highlander of people who are getting the same milleage, I gusess I cant complain. They cant tow a 3,000lb boat with eases.

I was actually condiering purchasing a smaller SUV, based on gas mileage. However, after reading how every SUV is torn appart by complaints, I have decided to keep my Sequoia. I even read all the many complaints about the Sequoia. I have to say, it all depends on how you take care of your car. This SUV has been a dream, it pulls my 3000lb boat no problem and rides like a car. The gas peddle is extremely responsive, but who would not want that. I am 6'2" and I am really comfortable in this SUV, even sleeping/camping the back. There are no rattles and this inside is silent. The best apect of the Sequoia is the resale value. With large SUV sales being down for the first time in 2004, the Sequoia still holds it value incredibly. Try booking out an Escalade in the same year and it has already depreciated $10K. If you buy this SUV and take care of it, you will love it!!!

Can not keep front end alligned, wears out front tires in about 15000 miles. Pulls to the right on highway. Oil gauge had to be replaced and has gone bad again. Acceleration is jumpy. Far backseat is difficult to access.

i have driven toyotas for years and loved the quality, however this has been the exception.

Strength:

Good Looks, Turns on a dime, Nice handling, Lots of Room, Tight Body.

Weakness:

Inconsistant accelerator pedal. Never know when it is going to lurch forward when accelerating. A side wind acts on the vehicle much more than on the suburbans. The automotive engineer that placed the clock so far down on the dash should have it ...oh well never mind.

This is a nice vehicle. It handles well, (except in a strong side wind). It has plenty of room, good looks with a tight body. However as soon as I am able it will be history with plans to never purchase another. The accelerator response is not that consistent and it seams the service dept. at Toyota of Baytown and Toyota couldnt care less. If it does not give a code they are lost. It acts as if the throttle body is sticking at times. ???
