Strength:

Strong V8 engine. Very tough vehicle. 17" wheels. Great off-roading. Handles real well.

Weakness:

Framing makes a little noise in sharp turns. A little noise on the inside.

Overall it is a great vehicle. It has a strong V8 engine with a K&N air system. Very roomy inside except for the rear seats could use a little more room.

Roomy interior, strong engine and great stereo sound.

Weakness:

Gas Mileage and a even worst while running the air conditoner.

Great Truck, On road: smooth ride with great cornering and quick acceleration from 35 to 50 MPH. Off road: manuvers and climbs effortlessly and a great hauler.

Weakness:

Poor performance of cruise control.

Unable to get Cruise Control to hold speed. Plus or Minus 5 to 7 mhp on not to steep grade. Set speed at 60, droops to 55 going up and runs to 67 going down. Dealer says this is normal. Comments appreciated.

Strength:

Chevy durability and strength. Big gas tank (480-600 miles a tank), road trip to chicago avg. 19.01 mpg. Lots of storage. Beautiful. Silky transmission. Smooth Cadillac ride. Awesome in snow and rain. Great value.

Weakness:

People who wouldn't know how to take care of a truck, even if they were born into a family of mechanics, writing reviews about it.

I have looked at and driven about every truck there is to drive. The Avalanche beats them all hands down in most catagories. I have had no problem whatsoever with this truck, and I use it for business and haul a trailor 90% of the time. The engine and transmission is as smoothe as silk, by the way, plenty of power. The midgate, bed covers, and extra storage compartments operate flawlessly and with ease. The large interior room is comfortable, noiseless, and of high quality(not like ford & dodge w/ cheap almost cushionless seats, noisy cabins, and 'fisher price' quality interiors). Few other vehicles turn heads like this truck, especially when you personalize the wheels and tires to fit it's robocop tuffness. It looks like it would eat up and spit out the competition(leaves a bad taste in the mouth) if they dare approach. If you want the truck that stands alone, this will be the one you buy.

Strength:

Tows way better than my silverado did, I think weight distributes better in back so less wheel slippage towing up steep gravel roads. Incredibly roomy and easy to convert.

Weakness:

good thing it has a 31 gallon gas tank nuff said about that!

Looks cool, runs great, and mine is without the cladding (Kind of the reason I didn't buy one earlier) What other stock truck gets the entire staff of a Taco Bell and all of the guys from boat marina over to look at and admire truck? Also reasonably priced, after $4,000 in rebates it's only $25,000 which as cheap as a similarly equiped Silverado.

Strength:

Hauling stuff, pulling the camper, pure lux. The deals today are Awesome. GM are giving them away!

Weakness:

Longer wheel base and width limits off road accessability way way off the road. But I expected that!!

Pick up or truck, we couldn't decide. The AV filled both requirements. Unless you have more than three kids, this is the truck/SUV to look at.

Strength:

I'm impressed with most everything in this vehicle

Weakness:

Gas guzzler (but what elsewould you expect with one this size?) Warranty is poor (but it is on ALL GM products) Washing and waxing takes a while:)

This is the car/truck to beat all cars/trucks. It is an incredible vehicle. I have had 15 vehicles in my lifetime and this is by far the best. GREAT ride, can haul just about anything you could want it to, styling, comfort, room for the family, four wheel drive, GM thought of it all with this one!

Model Reviewed: Z71 1500 AV

Strength:

Auto 4WD mode. I finally got to drive it in some deep snow during a snowstorm. Incredible! It gives you the impression it can go any where. Room to upgrade to a 2100 Watt stereo. That turns heads along with the styling as I go down the street. The ride. My parents both prefer to take the AV when we go out rather than their Buick! It's that good.

Weakness:

Make sure you have a big garage. Mine 'shrunk' quite a bit after I bought the AV! Aftermarket parts and mod's are still hard to find. Gas mileage is only around 17 mpg, but it is almost a 6000 lb truck. I wasn't too surprised by it.

Warning! GM is trying to convert all of us 'former' car drivers to truck drivers! I had a 93 Pontiac SSEi (super-charged Bonneville) that had a lot of side molding. That's what drew me to the AV initially. Plus it was also finally time to say goodbye to a great car. With the leather heated seats, OnStar, design, etc., I don't feel like I stepped down in class at all.
