Strength:

Plenty of room, everything placed well within reach of the driver, plenty of power, comfortable ride

Weakness:

you can't fit any tires bigger than 265 on the truck,

The best truck I have ever owned, if you get stuck in this truck you either need to learn how to drive or you shouldn't have been there. This is a truck not a car so when it shifts hard that means you aren't pulling any weight, and closing the doors should be hard that means its built well and it takes a beating if needed, I guess they should make the door out of alluminum so when some one hits you they crush you. This truck is meant to work, not to parade around like a limo, for a truck its got all it needs. The only thing that would make this truck better is the price being lower, but then again you get what you pay for.

Strength:

Power; Appearance; Brakes; Interior room; Ride Quality

Weakness:

Big (barely fits in most urban driveways); Stock mirrors (non-power) are barely able to adjust for blind-spot elimination (power versions are allegedly worse, though )

Nice Truck! Smooth, quiet, easy to look at! No driveability problems. Only one recall (brake line interference-half-hour job). The usual trim/fit glitches found in other reviews-noisey rear window(s), dash squeaks, hard closing 3rd door in cold weather, funny sqealing/chirping noise through steering wheel/column-nothing to get worked up about. Very capable vehicle.

Strength:

Everything. V6 has plenty of power, smooth 5 sp., excellent interior.

Weakness:

NOTHING

I recently purchased a 2001 Silverado, 4X4, reg. cag, short box, V6, manual trans, and heavy dutysuspensionpackage. I absolutely love this truck! It rides so smooth, especially for a truck with heavy duty suspension. The V6 has plenty of power, and the 5 sp. trans shifts smoothly. The interior is great; everything is well laid out. It has the vinylinterior. Before I saw the truck I was a bit hesistant about the vinyl, but now I am so glad I
have it. Firstly, the vinyl actually looks like leather (very nice). Secondly, it wipes up in seconds.

One of the other reasons I bought the truck was price/feature ratio. I bought my truck for only $18K and it has great standard features like 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS, tinted rear window, chrome front bumper, trailer wiring hookup pre-wired, and three power outlets inside. It's stuff that the other trucks don't offer. I also like the height of the truck. With the heavy duty suspension it sits at the perfect height. Not too tall, but tall enought to tower over pretty much everything else on the road. I sit almost at the level of a F-250 super duty. My brother in law has dodge ram. It's just a rickity peice of crap.

My truck prior to this was a 1999 Chevy S-10, and this is so much more truck. My brother had a 1998 Ford F-150, and this truck Ford doesn't even compare. The Chevy is superior in every detail. Go check them out and drive them and you will understand. Test drive the rest and you will buy Chevy. Chevy has definitely done the job right this time.

Strength:

Good looking truck with lots of power & torque. Pulls thru thick mud with a load easily. 18 m/g empty, 10 m/g with a 6,000 lb. load; no problem. Lots of room (front & back) for traveling and gear. Better turn radius than older models. Third door is a plus for loading gear & letting people in the back out with having the front passenger get out. The heater & the A/C will run you out if left in the wide-open position. I like the message screen on the dash for the info. I like the way it auto-locks the doors @ 18 mph. Pretty good stereo system.

Weakness:

High price. Broke a valve spring @ 34,000 miles - factory defect. Steering column clunks. Windows were loose in their tracks. Wind noise around the rear door's window. 3 recalls so far.

It does everything I ask of it. I bought it in Oct. '98 and have over 51,000 miles on it. I use it for a 60 mile round-trip to work, tow a trailer with over 4,000 lb. of gear sometimes, tow a 26 ft. travel trailer, take it on long distance vacations, a little off-roading now & then, haul firewood, etc. It runs good, rides good, looks good. I do love this truck.
I paid to have dual cat-back exhaust & Flowmasters put on it @ 600 miles. At 46,000 miles, I had a new set of tires installed to get rid of the Firestone Wildernesses that came on it. Couldn't stop worry about them.

Strength:

Looks great. Has plenty of power for pulling skidsteer, and other heavy trailers.

Weakness:

I've had way too many of these! There is the common clunking in the steering wheel, the treamendous wind noise, the clunking in the rear end, the anti-lock break unit is stuck on as we speak, so I had to remove the fuse to stop it, the stock tires were shot in 6 mo., the auto door locks suck, the driver seat is constantly getting stuck, the ride is very rough compared to other 3/4 ton trucks, the tranny has slipped on occasion, I'm scarred to use the tow/haul mode because of the complaints I have heard, the gas pedel is sticking worse and worse every day(takes a lot of pressure to push it down), I'm sure I've missed some things, but this should give people a general idea of what to look out for.

I love the Chevy name and everything it stands for, but I was very depressed to find out that buying a new vehicle meant having more trouble than getting a used one. I was only 21 when I purchased it, so as you can expect i dont have a lot of expendable income yet, so this purchase put me faaaaar into the hole. This would be fine if I had no worries, but now I dont have enough money to pay for all the problems with this truck. They just keep adding up!

Strength:

power is great, good looking style, love the heated leather captains seats

Weakness:

clunking noise on steer column in turns, high pitch noise from fuel pump, wind noise from mirrors, doors hard to close, and main concern is the cold climate cold engine start noise (sounds like rod knock, tapping, clicking noise).

Pretty good truck overall and I'm certain Chevy will repair the main concerns with the engine knock or I'll will be the haunting wrath of discontent for them.

had a 1994 ford f-150-chevy definitely outclasses the ford. also had a 99 ford ranger (lemon-law'd) for multiple probs-mainly engine knock and ford couldn't explain or fix the problem. had to fight them til the bitter end, but pulled thru it.
