Strength:
Gas Mileage ( Avg. 20 mpg ) combination City/Highway.
Weakness:
I'm not crazy about the wiper mounted windshield wiper sprayers, I found the driver side wiper washer enept on windy days. I am posting this Review for the much needed inquiry on the Silverado. I have heard many stories of problems with this truck. This is my second Chevrolet Truck and it has kept my approval. I previously owned an 86 Silverado 1/2 ton, Short Wide, with a V6, However it was stolen in March 00'.I now own a 2000 Silverado, 1/2 ton Regular Cab, "Short Wide". It is powered by the 4.3L V6, and is an automatic. I purchased it new in April 2000, and I have had no notable problems. I live in Arlington, and in Stephenville, TX. I drive allot and I've become very familiar with the truck.Feel free to contact me for questions, good or bad opinions welcomed. I have a picture of the truck as well if interested. Pretty Truck, 3rd door
Weakness:
TRANSMISSION!!! Junk all the way. Rebuilt twice I don't think I will ever buy a truck with an automatic transmission again unless is an old truck. They are the only dependable trucks even though they ride like tanks. Similar Products Used: Dodge Ram both junk |

Strength:
Power and Acceleration are awesome in this 5.7 reg cab truck.
Weakness:
Gas mileage isint the greatest Totally kicked the crap out of a new dodge that a friend was so proud of and did the same to a brand new 5.4 F150 with performance exhaust and air intake systems. This truck would run with sports cars with the right performance aceessories. Similar Products Used: Fords and Dodges |

Strength:
Looks...that's it.
Weakness:
clunking noise in rear end (they replaced the fluid several times with no help-it always came back); the metal rear brake tube severed and the brake fluid leaked out and we had no brakes; the steering column had to be replaced; transmission problems; So many problems, I can't remember all of them. I was just glad to get rid of it. This truck looks great, but that is where it ends. I have talked with several other 1999 and 2000 Chevy truck owners who are all experiencing the same problems that I experienced. Chevy cannot seem to find solutions to any of the problems. Chevy has issued several service bulletins, but the corrective actions only last for a short time and the problems always return. I cannot count the number of times this truck was in the shop. Do not buy this truck without a very extended warranty! Similar Products Used: Can't even begin to compare to my new Toyota Tundra Limited 4X4. This Tundra is awsome. |

i used to drive a 95 chevy that i really loved much more...i´ve never liked this piece of crap but my father wants to buy it...
Weakness:
When i first drove this truck i notice several things i didn´t like... 1) it doesn´t turn on at the firs time i try to...2) you have to put to much force to close the doors...and 3) a lot noise inside the cabin...mostly from the dash, whish is make of a poorly quality material... so far i have an endless list of dislikes and problems my truck come out with... this is a very disappointed product...i've been driving this truck for a little more than a year...the mileage is about at 15,000 and i have had problems with abs computer...with the power window elevators... leafs...the dash paint is falling apart...and the back windows frame broke and water leak into the cabin on rainy days or when i wash it... this is a truck i really loved a lot when my dad bought because he bought for me but everyday i thinking more seriously about sell it... i have put to much effort trying to keep this truck as new but it's imposible... this is not definitely the best product chevrolet has came out with... also the cabin is very small... Silverado EXT SB Z-71
Strength:
Very powerful, nice ride, great in the snow, push button 4WD, large rear seat area, great hauling power, nice looking.
Weakness:
Rattles, interior build quality is sketchy, rear doors do not close when it is cold, weather stripping around driver and passenger door is already falling off, wind noise is very annoying, had to take it to the shop already to have a new transfer case fluid put in to stop the chirp when accelerating. Poor gas mileage, and the Firestone Wilderness AT Tires that come on it SUCK!! I would rate this product fairly high because I can overlook the annoyances. My family has always owned Chevrolet Trucks, and I have seen 318,000 miles on the original engine of a 1986 Chevrolet C/K. So I know what they can do, and I know that I like the engines. The plastic shortcuts Chevrolet uses are very disappointing, especially when you are spending nearly 30K on the truck. So, if you buy one of these, expect to have it in the shop a few times to get the minor annoyances taken care of. The Firestone Tires SUCK, and I can't wait until I have to replace them, (or the tread comes flying off!) But, I think overall, these trucks last, and are good vehicles. Mine has also proved to be very good off-road and in the snow. Similar Products Used: 1995 GMC Sierra - this was a good truck, but it does not compare to the power of my new truck. |

C1500 5.7 2WD
Strength:
Power from the 5.7L V8 is not overwhelming, but it is plenty strong if you need to get into it. However it does get 19MPH at 65MPH on the highway. Have never had any problems with the transmission. I like the way the truck looks and it handles well, for a truck. I would buy this truck again at fair market value. It may be because it has been a daily driver and commute vehicle, but the interior looks almost new, and has held up really good.
Weakness:
Clunking noise in the rear or drive shaft. Same story from the dealer-"that's normal". Other than the annoying noise, nothing ever broke and it never left me anywhere, and my complaint on the issue was years ago. If it were not for the fact that I really wanted 4 wheel drive, I would definately keep this truck. I just bought a new 2000 Silverado 4x4 and am getting ready to start marketing my 94'. Most of my driving is highway, and occassionaly, I have pulled a light trailer with it, such as a 12' Uhaul, loaded. After reading the posts about the problems with the later model chevys, I am wondering if I should not have just added a used jeep to my vehicles in order to go to the beach. But, I will give the 2000 a fair chance. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger, (utter peice of garbage), 83 Chevy 1/2 ton p/u. Nice truck. I am not brand loyal, too much anyway. Just tell it like it is. |
