Strength:
Really nothing about this truck stands out to make it a great value. Dodge stated more room inside, this may be true but at my height (6''3") should have gone for a full size truck. I drive about 25000 miles a year to work. Had hoped for a much better value than I got
Weakness:
VERY weak engine, Lots of ambient engine noise throughout truck, Hard to see out of (may be due to my height), Less than great gas mileage for a 4-cylinder Overall I would say that the dakota is a average pickup. I am not very impressed with the truck at all. My overall opinion is that if I knew then what I know now I wouldn''t have bought this truck Similar Products Used: Owned a Chervolet S-10 before I purchsed this truck |

Weakness:
Poor braking system and many, many technical service bulletins requiring time-consuming repairs and tweaks! DON''T BUY THIS TRUCK! It''s unreliable and costly to repair. Similar Products Used: GMC Pickup Chevy Pickup Dodge Neon - YUK! |

Strength:
Agressive-looking, good 4wd and traction.
Weakness:
Poor Workmanship, bad factory tires (Goodyear Wrangler A/T''s) 2001 SLT+ 4x4 3.9 Nice truck...spent the past week in the shop for a broken blendor (Something with the heater box) and broken headlight, foglight, dome light switches. It seemed real sturdy for the first 5 months, but I''m questioning whether I should have bought something that was put together better (TOYOTA). I bought a used 89 toyota before this with 150,000 miles on it -- drove it for 2 years without a single problem and decided to get something new. I wish I''d have kept that or gotten a new Toyota. Strength:
Lots of room for the family. Plenty of power. Looks good.
Weakness:
Can''t turn corners while in 4-wheel drive, big problem in middle of winter snow or ice. Or just going fishing in some remote location in summer. The truck itself is perfect for my needs. Only one problem. You cannot turn corners in 4-wheel drive. Chrysler''s tell''s me this is normal. I beg to differ, as I have owned 4X4''s in the past. Dodge Dakota
My stepdaughter bought her first vehicle,a fiery red 1998 Dodge Dakota 3 months ago. This truck has been in the dealership for repairs 3 times and currently is still in the shop with the motor torn down. What a bummer. A lemon for a college student. |

Dodge Dakota
Strength:
The truck has power and has plenty of room in the cab.
Weakness:
I went through 3 catalitic converters before 30k. I have 90k now and im about to make the decision to put another tranny in or junk the truck. I have a leak in the cab on the passenger side that dodge says isnt there. I waited very patiently for Dodge to change the body style on the Dakota. Finally they did and I bought one. That was a big mistake. I have had nothing but problems with it. Leaks, exhaust systems, multiple transmissions, and stearing problems. |

Dodge Dakota Extended Cab (LE) Model
Strength:
Its a good buy. Solid motor, Magnum V6 does well on highway mileage. 18 in town, and 22 on the highway.
Weakness:
Have had to replace the waterpump, starter. Easy to replace. I have had my 92 Dodge Dakota since new. Have been very happy with its performance. I have one that is Dark Forest Green Metallic, that has peeled and faded around the corners on the front, side areas on the windows, and edges on the bed. Again, I did take in to the dealership for review, and was told that their agreement with the Manufacturer was to compensate the owner with 50% of the cost of a new paint job. Now why should we have to pay for a manufacturing defect or a poor quality process that the manufacturer should have had control of? No way was I going to put out $1000.00 out of my pocket for something done defectively. But just recently, I started having problems with the transmission. At low speeds, below 45 no problem, it shifts well. Get it over 55 up to 65 mph and the transmission starts to slip, and regress to passing acceleration. Similar Products Used: None |
