Strength:

Gas Mileage, Size, versatility

Weakness:

Power, but I figured that when I bought it. Nothing makes up for power better than Cubic Inches!

Not to many of these; Club Cab Sport, 4 cyl 5 spd. 64,000+ miles and I drove all but 150 of them. 20-22 MPG empty or loaded wether I am driving 50 or 80 mph. I am currently looking to replace this truck. Lease is up! No major problems and I am pretty hard on it. I have hauled large garden tractors, roll-a-way tool boxes, fire wood (filled to top of bed rail) sand, home construction items etc. The truck has performed well considering the lack of power. Steering and brakes worked well even when truck was loaded to max +. I will probably replace this truck with a Dakota Quad Cab V8.

Solid Truck Relatively good highway miles Great sport design Better performance than my buddys F-150 and his brothers Ranger

Weakness:

Not as good city miles 15-17 17 max so far. plan on getting upgrades to increase this Doesnt get up to speed on highway quickly enough expecially in 4th and 5th gear

Although I havent had this truck long and am getting accustomed to driving a manual transmission vehicle, Iam not disappointed. This is the 3rd dodge I have owned and I am only 20 years old. It has a V6 3.9 liter engine and only 38,000 original miles. I got a preety good deal on the truck and it runs good. Its a tough and solidly built truck. I have no problems hauling my small fishing boat behind it.

Strength:

Dodge tough. I havent been too easy on this pickup, but its holding itself well, I''ve hit large enough bumps to get airborn twice and driven it 100+ mph for over 40 miles at a time. No problems

Weakness:

Slight miss when first started when cold. (40,000 miles) New plugs cleared it right up.

Even though I''ve only had this pickup for 3 months, it has been the most enjoyable pickup I''ve driven. The good old 318 propels it down the road at 110 mph no problem. Seems like a shame to slow down to 70 (note i''m from montana). The bucket seats are soooo comfortable.

Strength:

POWER!!! I have the 5.2L V8 mated to the 5 speed manual gearbox (4x4) It has all the power I''ll ever need. Considering the engine I get very good fuel mileage, in the 17 - 22 mpg range. Very solid vehicle I''ve been rear ended once with absolutely no damage to show for it. I couldn''t be more impressed with this truck.

Weakness:

The cab isn''t insulated from sound very well so you do hear a fair bit of engine / tranny / road noise.

Awesome truck! Perfect for someone who lives and drives all week in the city, but likes to get out with his/her toys on the weekend. It''s been a good solid reliable truck - with regular maintanence. (Oil changes and wear and tear stuff like light bulbs, tires etc. Definetly not excessive.) I have almost 200 000kms on my truck and the only issues have been the exhaust system (rusted off from the coneverter back) and I had to replace the starter at 195 000kms.

Model Reviewed: Dakota 4X4 V-6

Strength:

I cannot think of any.

Weakness:

Suspension, braking; transmission; interior room.

I am very disappointed with the performance of this vehicle. The V-6 has no power, especially when accelerating. When accelerating from 50 mph, I have to press the gas pedal to the floor and force it into passing gear; otherwise, when just depressing the gas pedal for more speed, it is extremely SLOW to accelerate. It only stays in passing gear for a couple of seconds and then bogs down. Accelerating onto highway from 10-15 mph, it accelerates to 50 mph; then the above problem kicks in. It is almost as though there is a "governor" on the engine that keeps it from going much past 50 mph. Putting it into passing gear causes it to smell like it''s burning. It downshifts constantly, then upshifts, then downshifts. I hve to keep giving it gas to maintain a constant speed, making gas mileage less than acceptable. The suspension is awful; even though its a 4X4, it should not ride like it has concrete tires! I recently took a 4 hour road trip (highway) in it and I couldn''t hardly move once I got out of it - not to mention the headache. It was like someone was lifting me up and smacking me down on the ground for 4 hours. The seats are increadibly uncomfortable. I have had a problem with the braking system as well. The interior is cramped. I am only 5''4" tall, and I cannot imagine a taller person being comfortable in this truck. The turn signals, especially the right one, do not always turn off; one has to manually turn them off after the turn is completed.

Strength:

5.2 Liter V8 offers plenty of power. Especially with five speed Tranny. Smooth Ride, and a great looking truck.

Weakness:

Hmmmm... fuel economy maybe But what do you expect from a V8

I bought my Dakota (A Extended Cab V8) at 28,000 miles. It now has over 83,000 miles. The only things I have replaced have been tires, and the engine oil. What a wonderful Truck. I have read some nasty reviews on this site, but I am in love with this truck. I have owned many other trucks, however this one is tops in every catagory.

Strength:

4 Doors, strong V8, smooth ride.

Weakness:

Gas mileage could be better, I avg 13mpg with easy driving, could be 1-2 mpg better.

I love this truck. The quad cab is the way to go. I can haul the kids and then throw stuff in the back. The 4.7L V8 is powerful and the truck is very smooth. It is the best truck I have owned...ever...dot.

Strength:

Pretty powerful engine (alot better than lowly four cylinders) Antilock brakes Easy to work on Nice factory wheels (no need to buy aftermarket ones)

Weakness:

Redlines at a low 4900 RPM Too few properly placed vents for the defroster Windshield wipers are too slow in downpours Mediocre paint quality

I bought this truck used with 47,000 miles on it. A friend of mine had the same one and had good luck with it so I decided to get one too. Overall, I''ve been happy with it. It has the 3.9 liter Magnum V6, automatic transmission with OD, and antilock brakes. The engine is semi-powerful, though its way less powerful than the V8. It has ample acceleration for racing kids with civics at stoplights. Passing power is ok on the highway, although the engine redlines at 4900 RPM. Needs a bigger reserve of power. I almost went with a V8 Dakota sport with the offroad suspension and 4x4 but it was a ''92 and it was $13,000. A nice bonus is that theres ample room in the engine bay, so its easy to do your own tuneups, etc. The only items that have broken on it so far are the radiator ($400) something called the air idle controller ($150) my passenger side window falls off its track often even though I replaced the window clip, the cabin doesn''t have enough vents for the defroster when it''s on. A large portion of the windshield remains foggy during the winter even with the defroster on full blast. The windshield wipers need to have a little more speed, as the highest setting isn''t enough for torrential downpours. The paint quality is kind of poor as areas of my trucks body has flaked off (same thing with my friends). Overall a higher redline, rear disc brakes, a higher setting for the wipers, and more vents for the defroster would be nice. Lastly people should get the extra cab because there''s not enough room for anything in the regular cab.

Gas Milage, but for a Powerfull V8 Cant complain

This one does it all . . . and carries it all. Only Dodge Dakota has best-in-class available horsepower, torque, towing and payload. And it''s the only one in its class with a choice of two Magnum V8 engines. With Dakota Quad CabTM you get the largest standard cargo bed and the only pickup in its class with available seating for six passengers. In addition, Quad Cab and Club Cab® received the highest government side crash test rating: 10 stars.

Porr Customer service from Dodge Heater Core went a couple of months after the warenty expired and could not reachj a reasonable compromise with the dealer and the cost for the repair was $1000 Canadian which is alot of money for a 3 year old truck I think Dodge could have been a little more resonable with the heater core and not tell me the Warenty is to cover them not me!NEVER BUY ONE AGAIN

Nice riding truck and ample power from the 3.9L V6 engine but getting rust on the front metal bumper and ironicaly after the warenty expired everything is breaking down, Front break Callipers siezed up Heater core went Blower motor burnt out
