Strength:

Power, Stereo

Weakness:

Minor fit and finish issues. Nothing major.

I have the Quad Cab Sport V8. Great power, so so Mileage. The roominess of the 4-door Quad Cab is fantastic. I frequently have four people in the truck and there is always plenty of room.
Consistent and robust power from the 4.7 Liter V8. More than enough for in town (in fact I wish I had a V6 sometimes), plently of power on the highway and decent enough to tow a 4000 lb trailer. For this i have the towing package. Good option in the Desert areas.

Strength:

This truck is smooth and quiet! The 4.7 V-8 has quick acceleration and sounds cool too. I initially checked out the Ford Ranger, but after seeing and driving the Quad Cab, I was sold. With three kids, this truck can haul and still take the whole family along. I really like that. The interior is nice and the AM/FM/CD stereo sounds great! Outside, the two tone paint treatment along with the 16" tire/wheel combo makes this truck a real looker. 4WD system is easy to use. The truck has 6000 miles on it so far and has been pretty reliable.

Weakness:

Rear diiferential was replaced for noise under warranty, however I was provided a loaner car, and the problem has not returned.

Overall we have been very happy with the Dodge for the length of time we have owned it. I have always been skeptical about Chrysler products, due to their poor reliability record and my dad's experience with Chrysler products when I was growing up. He was working on the darn things. I do like very much the way this truck looks, and rides. Hopefully it won't let me down!

1995 Chevrolet Z-71 Ext. Cab. The Chevy had the same ride qualities as the Dodge, however the with the Chevy, you couldn't pass a gas station because it was such a pig. I also like the four full size doors on the Dodge, compared to no rear access on the '95 Chevy models. Leg room in the rear of the Dodge is Much better than the Chevy was too. My wife likes the Dodge better because it's not as big and easier to handle, but sits up just as high as the Chevy did. We both like the height to see above traffic-unless you're behind one of those REAL thirsty Ford Excursions!

Strength:

Couldn't find any good qualities so I traded it off.

Weakness:

Poor turning radius, gutless 4.3 liter V6, rear differential leaked, transfer case seal leaked twice, extremely light rear-end, ate tires like you wouldn't believe, since day one always had a clatter under the hood that the dealer told me was nothing and all of them did that, could dent it with feather.

Was unimpressed. Was sorry a week after I purchased it and yearned to have my '92 Ford F-150 back. Would probably have been more satisfied if I had opted for the V8, but instead went with the 6 cyl. 4.3 liter. GUTLESS. Downshifted on EVERY little hill encountered, and it even turned my blower off on my AC because the engine was struggling so much.

Strength:

The truck drives smooth and quiet like a luxury car. It has the power of a full size pickup truck.

Weakness:

POOR gas mileage. The air conditioning condensation drain drips right on to the oxygen sensor. This sounds like a problem when you park the truck after running the A/C.

This is probably the nicest pickup truck I have owned. I did have some problems with the truck when I bought the truck new. I didn't have the truck home fifteen minutes when the truck just poured antifreeze from the firewall area of the engine compartment. It was an inconvenience to take it back to the dealer. At the factory the heater hose going to the firewall was not attached and clamped properly. The only other problem I've had was the front right wheel hub leaking grease after 5 months. The dealership made all the repairs under warranty. There are a few areas on the truck that the paint quality is lacking. But overall, compared to the new truck problems I've had with the new Fords and Chevrolets I've owned, and how they responded to the problems, I like the Dodge product. Everyone who has driven my truck wants one.

Strength:

Power, smooth quiet ride, off-road performance

Weakness:

Mileage

I just love the 4.7L V8, plenty of power right off the line and on the highway when you need to pass. The interior is quiet and the ride is very comfortable. Off-road capability is good, I have the 4X4 with limited slip rear end (3.55 gears) and the upgraded tires (31's). It's great both in the city and on the highway, a joy to drive. My only complaint is the mileage. Average mileage in the city is 12.5MPG (19.5L/100 Km). Not great but some modifications should help (tonneau, synthetic fluids all around, electric fan, etc.)

Strength:

There are not very many strengths to this vehicle. It holds up well when you roll it three of four times.

Weakness:

This product should come with a warning that is rolls extremely easily. I rolled my vehicle less than 4 months after purchasing it. I was driving 20 km less than the speed limit and did not do anything unusual (i.e., touch the steering or break). In fact, I was on a straight stretch of highway. The back end of the vehicle spun in front of me, forcing the truck off the road. It then rolled several times. Had I been driving any other vehicle I am quite certain that this would not have happened. Sure the road was a little slippery, but I watched as many (50-75)other vehicles passed the same spot, and none of them even entered a skid.

Gas mileage is extremely poor.

The dealship was not only pathetic, but misleading (for example, I asked if I should get it rust proofed and they said sure bring it in and they would do it for more $$$). I subsequently found out that all new vehicles come with a five-year warranty for rust. I also was led to belive that I had bought the power window package when I bought the vehicle, but when it arrived at the dealer there was no power window package. I was told that I had not paid for that, even though I was led to believe that I had.

Do not buy this vehicle if you like living. However, if you are a crazy thrill seeker looking for the experience of rolling a vehilce, I would highly recommend it.

I had two Ford Rangers for over 10 years and never rolled one of them, many times while under much more severe driving conditions.

Looks and comfort I traded a suv for it. So I still have ample room. Quiet interior.

Weakness:

Of course gas mileage is poor but so was my suv so nothing new.

After reading other reveiws I feel pretty good I bought mine for $15,900.
I love the looks you get I'm starting to see a lot more Dakotas on the streets. For comfort I would definately recommend and as far as problems Knock on Wood none yet! Mine was well taken care of as far as I know. For gas mileage I don't know alot of trucks that say "I'm easy on Gas". My wife's Chevy CK does pretty good but not great. I would recommend as of right now, and probably by another one.

5.2 motor, what a nice truck, no trouble with this one, strong running, will pull anything & fast. Rides a bit bouncy. a strong truck.

Weakness:

Gas millage, Gas milage, Gas milage.

I paid 18750.00 for this new 1999 Dakota SLT. There is no other truck that I would say this about, I LOVE THIS TRUCK!! I have had others, this is the one. If you want power, room, 4 speed auto tranny, safety, this is the truck. This is the second 1999 Dodge Dakota I have had, the first one had less than 5000 miles on it when I was hit from the rear on the Hollywood freeway by a ful size Chevy van. My Dodge only had $1650.00 worth of damage, but the guy who hit me his ful size van was a total loss, I was told he was going at least 45 mph when he hit me, I was stoped. The truck is a strong one, I was not hurt, I drove the truck home, his van was towed.

Ford Ranger, I like this truck so much better, it wil hold more weight, pull more weight, tow more weight, just a nicer truck.
