Strength:
Large comfortable interior. Good looking truck. Runs good. No major problems.
Weakness:
Mileage is bad. Minor fit and finish. Haven''t had the major troubles, yet. Noticed the rear window leaks in hard rain storms. Engine tends to ping, not all the time. Took a 2,000 mile trip to Colorado towing two motorcycles with no problems, interior was very comfortable. Did notice the tranny changing gear constantly, soon learned to turn off the over drive, problem solved! Truck does pull to the left on certain roads but the front end is straight. No matter what I did uphill, downhill, headwind, tailwind the mileage stayed the same, 10 mpg. Similar Products Used: 1996 Mazda SE V6 |

Strength:
Best looking truck on the market. Killer pulling power with diesel or V10. Rides pretty good for a heavy duty truck. Nice sound system. What a view while driving.
Weakness:
Tires are to small for a truck this big. No power rear sliding window option. Drinks gas like water. loud diesel motor. I have a 2500 4X4 V10. I''m very impressed with the truck. No major issues to date. I have had the door speakers replaced under warranty. I have heard the horror stories but I must say that most makes are having similar issues. Transmission and cheap trim interior packages come to mind. I believe this truck to be as good as any of them out there, it jsut has a different set of weakness compared to other makes. Over all I''d recommend the vehical but know what your getting when you order the truck. The 1500 can work but not like a 2500 or 3500. Looks Great. Chrysler has some amazing designers...
Weakness:
Everything else. Horrible vehicle. This truck was my first NEW purchase it was also my first truck. I always loved the design of the RAM, it is still one of the best looking trucks on the road. But the old saying is very true, looks are not everything... After only 1,500 miles the engine had to be replaced. This is after taking it in to service about two times. After that it was all down hill. I thought I had just purchased a bad apple but I kept hearing of people having the same types of trouble with this heap of shiat. Engine noises that shouldn''t be there, air bag "clock spring" bad (which by the way, it will soon be recalled for this), horrible pick-up on acceleration, etc., etc... I ended filing for the Lemon Law and Chrysler was extremly fast in settling the case. They must be aware of what a piece of crap they have on their hands. Please do not buy this truck. I know it looks great but save yourselves some major headaches. To the US Auto Manufacturers:, you are letting Americans across the nation down so badly, if you keep this up this country will soon have no Auto Industry. Impossible as it may seem, the Japanese are kicking our asses. So get off yours and start making some quality vehicles... Similar Products Used: None |

Dodge Ram 1500 4x4

Weakness:
None I have a 98 QC 1500 4x4, I swear it was one of the first off the assembly line. I have had only minor issues with my truck mostly with appearance issues. I love to dick around with the dealers and try to get them to make a Toyota out of a Dodge. By that I mean I don''t take no for an answer when it came to problems. I have not spent a dime on repairs in 4 years of owner ship (Oct 97). Just had a door replaced due to a very small amount of rust along the lower seam in the door. Mopar paid every dime and I got half my truck repainted for free. I just get ugly with them. Remind them that we shouldn''t have bailed them out in the 70''s. How the Dodge brothers would be turning over in their grave. Like they should get out of the business and do America a favor. Make sure others can hear. I believe that for the kind of money we spent for their product, they need to make it right or not at all. I am not a nut. I just don''t have 25k to drop around on vehicles every couple of years because of poor manufacturing and let a big company mess with me from their own failure to make "the most dependable trucks on the road". Big thing I recomend to Ram owners is read your owners manual with regards to the guidance about use of overdrive. I live in a congested area and tend to only use it on trips where I know there''s not a lot of stop and go and hilly. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Unbelievable space inside - we can fit 3 car seat and 3 adults comfortably inside the truck. I originally hated the redesigned Dodge trucks but now I like it. I also feel very safe driving it with my 20 month old daughter despite recent reports of poor safety ratings.
Weakness:
Gas mileage is a weakness but what else can you expect from a truck. From what I hear, Dodge is notorious for bad transmissions so that makes me a little nervous. My husband purchased this truck to use for his building business and it has become the family vehicle because of all the space the quad cab offers. The space is great but it''s not very practical to drive for long trips at 12 miles to the gallon for gas. Similar Products Used: None |

strong 5 spd manual(never replaced clutch in 120,000 miles) is that insane or what? can tow anything but I usually dont make it. More power than anything else ive been in great low end tourque. BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Weakness:
none well maybe gas mileage but for a 360 12-17mpg isnt so bad Great truck! cant say much else. Its a workhorse, I bought it recently from my uncle so I know everything about this truck its great it has 120,000 mls on it and looks and runs brand new, my friend said it even smells new. The paint is still gorgeous the interior has held up to us hunters and youd need 4 feet of snow to stop you from going somewhere with the 4X4 and ground clearance. The truck is just fabulous and I recomend you buy one by what ever means be it new or used. It fits 6 people but its kind of tight up front with the shifter in the way. If you Tow alot or Haul alot this truck is for you if you hunt or take long trips or camp this truck is for you. If you do landscaping or carpentry or what have you this truck is for you, if you dont do that stuff but need a pickup sometimes, get a dakota better daily driver as far as gas goes. Great truck, great truck!!!!!!!!!! (((((((((DDDDOOOOODDDDDGGGGEEEEE))) DODGE!!!!!! Similar Products Used: ramcharger and a dakota but they were pretty good too only problem was they were automatics so they werent as nice for towing |

Strength:
Power, looks, , basically indestructable.
Weakness:
The quad cabs have some pretty significant blind spots, due to the smaller rear quarter windows and the seatbelts integrated into the higher front seats. Still don't understand why you cannot get the manual transmission with the 5.9L in the half ton trucks, but you can with the 3/4 and up. Lastly, it seems as though I get a recall notice about twice a year, always something minor and easy to fix, but still a nuisance. Outstanding. I bought my current truck after four years and 90,000 miles on my 96 Ram 1500. All those miles and the only problem I ever had with it was a s hort in the battery cable. It was a base model w/ manual transmission, so I traded it in for a fully loaded 4x4. Still haven't found a better looking truck, with the sport package in black it's bad a$$, and the offroad wheels and suspension set it apart from the normal 4x4's. It does ride a little rougher than my old truck, but a stiff suspension is a small price to pay. I ended up with a great deal from the dealership, some promotion took over $5k off the price so I couldn't pass it up. Like I said my old truck was base model, no cassette or CD player, cheapo cloth interior, power nothing. This one has leather, power everything, the little digital thing that tells you in what direction you are heading to get to the next gas station, really a gentleman's truck that fits in working on the jobsite and heading out Saturday night. As money comes available the accessories are soon to follow. The only thing I recommend against is nerf bars. They mount to the body/frame bolts and they creak and groan and drove me nuts. I bought steps for this one and in addition to better ground clearance, they look better and are less than half the price. Go Buy a Dodge! Strength:
It drives well. I would like to tow a boat to really feel the cummins power, I'm sure it would not have any problems. Fuel Millage is good.
Weakness:
The oil filter is a little hard to get at(not a big problem) I am happy will pretty much all features of this truck. Its big and comfortable to ride in, short and long distances. The only option I don't have is the leather seats which I didn't want. I have noticed a few rock chips, but don't know if I would blame the paint or the roads. I got some touchup paint from the dealership and go over the truck every 3-6 months. Similar Products Used: Chevy 1985 350 V8 small block. A fun truck to drive but guzzeled gas. 250km from 50L of gas. That was my reason for finding a vehicel that was good on gas. |
